The store itself is typically quite spacious and clean, though it can get pretty chaotic on weekends when there aren't enough cashiers open to handle the crowds, leading to a bit of a wait. We usually come here specifically for items we can't find at a standard Western supermarket, specialty sauces, fresh produce, and all sorts of snacks and pantry staples. They also have a great bakery section inside that sells fresh pastries like bo luo bao (pineapple buns) and hot dog buns. Overall, it's a reliable and decent place to get pretty much any Chinese-specific groceries you might need. Just be prepared for potential lines if you visit during peak weekend hours.

Not sure why they insist on selling months-old fruit even in discount section, it's not a great look - yes, some can save, but at what cost? The vegetable section is good; things are trimmed, usually the leaves are fairly fresh. The noodle section is also excellent, with a variety of dried noodles from various cuisines. The sliced meats are mostly too fatty; need to select for better trims (for example for hot pot). The service and help is still difficult though; the workers aren't particularly helpful so you'll need to go through and find stuff yourself.

FoodPak Express is THE place to load up on all your asian cuisine and cooking essentials. This…read morestore is massive - warehouse massive! They've got every conceivable asian food item needed to create an entire restaurant menu - which makes sense, as I believe this store was originally intended and serviced restaurant owners only. You are able to become a member - don't ask me how, I'm just a chun dy paw who shops here. You receive slight discounts on everything. You'll notice on the price tags the "member" price and the normal price. It's seriously like 10¢ less for members - so unless the membership is free (don't hold your breath!), I don't see myself jumping on that too soon. They've got dried goods, canned goods, frozen sections, fresh vegetable and meat sections, juice and soda sections, snack sections, condiment sections, noodle and rice sections, cookware sections (utensils, dishes, rice cookers, deep friers, etc.), cleaning ware sections, paper goods section (think wholesale sized boxes of napkins, toilet tissue and paper towels) and just about everything in between. The price is right as well. I go here to stock up on $1 bags of frozen edamame, gyoza and bags of noodles and condiments as well. The workers are all just buzzing around you on forklifts, moving inventory and stocking shelves. They leave you alone and don't bother you until you're ready to check out. Chances are, an older asian lady will ring your stuff out. A younger asian guy will pack your items into boxes and an older asian guy will drop it down the loading dock, wheel it to your car and pack it into your trunk for you. Talk about service! It's just how they operate. No bells and whistles. Just good old fashioned straight up wholesale asian food products.

It's almost like a Costco's for Asians, and all the fresh-off-the-boats seem to know about its existence. (Warning - be careful during Chinese New Year - EVERYONE and their mom seem to come here for stuff.) While it's encouraged that you have a membership at Food-Pak if you purchase from there frequently, you can shop normally without one. We get our ice cream by the gallon from here (green tea, red bean, and ginger - the specialty kind), along with fortune cookies and place mats for Asian night. Their utensils and other food supplies are sold by the thousands in large boxes, so make sure you have a car with lots of storage (or a van) if you do come here. The service is fantastic - they'll help you bring your stuff to your car and load it with you. What can I say - I'm a sucker for cost savings and any benefits that come along with it.

Since my husband and I were in Quincy to visit the Adams National Historical Park, we decided to…read morestop by this H Mart for lunch (as there is a food court here) and also to do some grocery shopping. The food court has quite a good selection of restaurants to choose from, in addition to having Tous Les Jours bakery and also Gong Cha. There is plenty of seating and there are also restrooms available. After we had lunch, we ended up purchasing the following from the market side: FInger Kimbap, $6.99 prior to tax- Picked up these to bring with us tomorrow on a day trip to Springfield, MA. Shrimp Tempura Kimbap, $8.99 prior to tax- Picked up these to bring with us tomorrow on a day trip to Springfield, MA. Razor Clams, $22.34 prior to tax- Rarely have we seen razor clams sold in a market (the only other one we have seen them was at a T&T Supermarket in Washington). So we decided to purchase them, even though the price did seem more expensive. We ended up purchasing a little over a pound (it was $14.99 per pound). My husband cooked them back at our Airbnb and they were delicious. Live Lobster, $13.10 prior to tax- Price for live lobster is significantly cheaper than back home in Los Angeles so we knew we had to get one (the last time we were in Boston, we dined out for Lobster over a handful of times and also did purchase them from seafood markets). Lobster was only $7.99 per pound, we got close to 2 pounds. My husband also cooked this back at our Airbnb and the meat was nice and sweet. Pink Apple, $2.51 prior to tax- Ended up only purchasing 2 apples because the quality of fruit seemed to be rather sub par. ----------------------------- (Total= $55 after tax) When we were in the seafood department, we were able to get an employee's attention to help us. But we did see this one young guy just standing there waiting to see if any one would help him. I think at these places, you have to get the attention of the employees if you want to be helped since there was no number or ticket to get for someone to call you when its your turn. Also I was greatly disappointed with the quality of produce on this visit. A lot of the fruit was rather poor quality, looking like some of the fruit was too ripe. And some of the vegetables looked old. Overall, I think our shopping experience was good, just wished the produce was better. But the prices seemed to be pretty good in general and similar to what I have seen back home at our local H Mart. If I was local to this area, I would most likely be a regular here.
