On July 21, 2014, my neighbor recommended this business to purchase a used transmission for 01 Honda Accord. He told me that he believed the transmissions were shipped from Japan and had very low miles. He had purchased a transmission for his Honda Civic and had no issues with it. After speaking with him, I went to the aforementioned business and spoke with Rich, who sold me the transmission for my vehicle for f $756.00. He provided me with the invoice and told me that he would be willing to purchase my used transmission from my Accord for $60.00. He told me I had a 90 day warranty on the purchased transmission but never mentioned he wouldn't refund my money if it turned out the transmission was bad. I had a local, licensed garage install the transmission for $ 400.00. I sold my bad transmission to the garage for $60.00.
Fast forward a month and a half later, as I was driving up a a small incline on the 210 FWY, my Accord shifted very violently and the TCS light and check engine light turned on. I exited the freeway and turned off the engine. I inspected the engine and the transmission and did see and obvious signs of damage. After a few minutes, I was able to drive away and the warning light were now gone. I had no other issues until the early morning of October 13 as I was on my way to work. The same thing happened to my Accord as I drove on the freeway, but this time, the D4 light on the dash began to blink. I was able to nurse the vehicle off the freeway and left it there and went to work. Later that after noon, I drove the vehicle to the same mechanic and he worked on it for a few days. His diagnosis was a bad transmission. I paid the mechanic $70 for the diagnosis and drove my vehicle home with the lights still blinking on the dash.
I contacted Rich at C&T and asked him to refund my money since i still had a few days left on the 90 day warranty. He told me he wouldn't refund the money and suggested that the mechanic that installed the transmission was not qualified. I expressed my desire to return the transmission and again he reminded me he wouldn't refund the money but would give me another used transmission. He suggested I take my vehicle to a transmission specialist he recommended. I reminded him that i just had a few days remaining on the warranty and he told me he would extend the warranty for 2 weeks to give an opportunity to take my vehicle to the garage he recommended. I took the vehicle to the new garage and the diagnosis was a bad transmission. I then contacted Rich at C&T and told him the bad news and ASKED HIM FOR A REFUND, Rich declined and told me he would give me another transmission. I reminded him that I would have to pay the mechanic to remove and install the next transmission and he said he couldn't help me. I had no other choice but to agree to have the transmission exchange.
I paid the mechanic an additional $300.00 and he removed the transmission and installed the 2nd transmission. A few hours later, the mechanic called me with the bad news that the 2nd transmission was really bad and the vehicle was worse than the first diagnosis. I contacted Rich and told him the bad news and pleaded with him to refund my money. Rich said he would consider refunding me less than half of the purchase price but I would have to return the 2nd transmission. I reminded him that I had sold my original transmission to the garage and had no other transmission. I also reminded him that I had to pay the mechanic $ 300.00 to remove the transmission and return it to him.
I asked him to refund the $300.00 that he offered earlier and he replied that I had to return the 2nd transmission. I told him it wouldn't make sense to do that since that was the cost of removing the transmission; and that would leave me without a transmission. Rich said he wouldn't help me. I told him that he should place a sign in his business that clearly states that he doesn't provide cash refunds so that potential customers can make a decision before they drive off with a bad trasmission.
I have since taken my Accord to a transmission specialist who is rebuilding the transmission at a reasonable price. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE AND JUST SPEND THE MONEY TO HAVE YOUR TRANSMISSION DONE RIGHT. read more
