It was a Tuesday around 11am and the place wasn't busy so we sat right down and were served immediately. Cute country vibes all around! My husband got the scramble with sausage and grits and ate as much as his elastic belt would allow. I got the Big Grumpy Breakfast with toast and bacon and it was all cooked perfectly. My husband went to the bathroom and left me alone /unsupervised when there was pie & cheesecake available at the register - Silly man. I got a slice of cheesecake and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly chilled, not overly sweet and had a great consistency. The only thing I'm grumpy about after leaving this place is the fact that we don't live closer. Eat here, leave happy!

To our surprise, the non-assuming quiche plate my partner got, and the burger bowl I got, were both delish!! The quiche was simple, but cooked to perfection. It comes with a bowl of side salad with a delicious maple balsamic dressing, a blueberry muffin, and a slice of tomato and lettuce on the plate. The quiche has a nice, homemade crust that's surprising light and just pure goodness. The burger bowl was a deconstructed burger without the bun. I got it with grilled chicken, and it was, of course, cooked to perfection. Juicy and flavorful, which is hard to achieve for most places. The salad was fresh, and the homemade Grumpy's sauce was delicious as well. The waitress was sweet. Service was on point. Price is good. Place is nicely decorated and clean. Both this place and the town of Madison has exceeded our expectations. We will for sure come back when we're around next year.

I try to regularly pop into the South Eden Plantation, especially in the fall and on one of their live music nights. The wine menu is extensive and all available by the glass, which may make the decision-making process more difficult, but you'll always end up with a good wine. I eventually made up my mind with the old vine zinfandel followed by a glass of sangria, paired with the delicious cheese platter. With those hard decisions over, I could sit back, sip on my wine, and listen to some music, while the cicadas played their own music in the trees. But Busy Bee absolutely wants you to know it studied the Buc-ee's playbook in great detail and copied enough homework to pass the class. And honestly? Respect. After hours on the road, I pulled in needing gas, caffeine, food, a restroom, and probably some emotional reassurance from the highway gods. Busy Bee delivered on most of it. First off, the bathrooms were clean. Not "gas station clean." Actually clean. That alone immediately moves a roadside stop up at least one full star in America's travel grading system. Then came the snack exploration phase. They had homemade jerky, specialty snacks, random road trip impulse purchases, and enough "well I wasn't planning to buy this but here we are" items to keep me wandering around longer than intended. It's the kind of place where you walk in for a drink and somehow leave holding candied pecans, smoked sausage, and a giant bag of pork rinds you'll later regret in silence. It's a good place to refuel both your gas tank and your stomach before heading back into the chaos of interstate survival.
