There are not a lot of independent sub shops left out there, the mom and pop sub shops seem to have fallen to the Wayside and have been swallowed by the national chain brands. So upon hearing about this establishment and being in the Live Oak area on business, I decided to give them a try. The business itself is located in the downtown area, who knew that live oak even had a downtown area? The interior was particularly large and open with plenty of tables to grab a seat and enjoy your lunch. The service was extremely friendly and the prices were fair. Since I am trying to do healthier these days, I opted for the turkey sub. It was my original intention not to get cheese on it, but when they offered pepper jack cheese oh, well, let's just say I was powerless. Despite the open area and plenty of seating I chose to get it to go and went to a nearby park to enjoy my lunch. I definitely had a lot better subs and the quality of the meat was not the best. Still, for its location and the friendliness of the people I have chosen to give it 4 stars. You can do a lot better for lunch but you can do far, far worse. Would I return here? Maybe if I am in the area, but I think it provides a great alternative to national sub chains and fast food. read more

I've been here twice and by far the best subs I have ever had, better than Publix. Ive had a club from here and a gyro. The pickles are also to die for, and the sweet tea. The service is great, prefers are in quick, and food is pushed out even faster. Place is usually busy Anytime I go, but it's never a problem. I thought it was going to be a small hole in the wall, but there's quite a spacious inside, and was fairly clean. They have lots of sides and dessert options as well if you ever stop in! read more

The sandwiches were very good if you like home made cold subs. Perfect subs for lunch on a hot day. These subs remind me of eating cold subs from a cooler on the beach in a good way. The prices are about the same as other places. The problem and the reason they aren't getting 3 stars is that they way over charged us on our most recent visit. They immediately refunded our money after I brought it to their attention. But now are going to charge us for everything we actually did order. Which is crazy. Suoer clean, friendly staff. The bread is so soft and delicious. They even offer call ahead with drive thru pick up. I orgered the club sub and it was very good except I thought it should have came with some bacon and it didn't. My husband got the roast beef and it was delicious. My brother in law got the tuna salad sub and he loved it. We will definitely be back. Also if you are trying to eat less bread they offer all their sub on a salad plate. read more

Me and my wife just had this for lunch yesterday and I am extremely satisfied and surprised how great this little place is. I love local restaurants, some are lacking in some way but Live Oak Sub Shop is not one of those places. According to their sign, they are only open from I want to say 10am-4pm which is a shame for anyone who would want the food later. They were also pretty packed when we were there, there was TONS of people inside but it had such a homey feel to it. The service was great, the place was clean. The bread is very soft and fresh, what can you hate about that? I got the club sandwich and everything was high-quality about that sub but I'm most pleased with the bread and cheese. I am pretty certain if they offered a bread and cheese sub I would eat it, the cheese isn't that processed stuff- it's real cheese and it's making my mouth water just thinking about it again. I will go back next week for a Gyro and Cheesesteak sub! OH ALSO, VERY CHEAP. $6 for a 12" sub that tastes better than Subway BY FAR.
