I'm going to keep it short and sweet: Ritz has really great coffee. If you've read any of my reviews, you know I don't say that lightly or easily. But, seriously, the coffee at Ritz is the bomb diggity, and they don't make any pretenses about there being a difference between a melange and a cappuccino. You can order one and get the other, because they are, *gasp!* the same exact thing.
I was giving Ritz "only" 4 stars because it's a bit on the pricey side, but then I reconsidered... For a "double" melange/cappuccino, it's about €4,80, but that's for a huge coffee, which is at least twice the size of a normal cup (and not just twice the coffee, but also twice the milk/foam). With the going rate of the melange/cappuccino in Vienna at €2,80, €4,80 is more than reasonable for an exceptionally tasty double (to-go). And, get this! Not only are the people very friendly, but they also prepare your coffee for you since you are taking it to go. Now, I know a lot of places will do that; however, I use a sweetener from the U.S. that I've yet to find here (except at Bobby's), so I carry it with me. The peeps at Ritz were not even weird or shitheads about me giving them my own sweetener for them to prepare my coffee zum mitnehmen! (I probably would have been - I mean, how neurotic is that? To carry your own sweetener because you want to use only this brand?!)
So, mad props to Ritz for having great coffee at a fair price, with nice people serving it. Now I need only to try some of their delicious-looking baked goods... read more
