Anyhooo....Just wanted to give a quick shout out to Just Junk Ottawa. We had them come by earlier this week and the service was excellent. The gentlemen who came to do our haul away were professional and fast. They were also mindful of our walls, doors and surroundings and didn't damage anything. The price was also very reasonable and considerably lower than 1-800 Got Junk. We were very happy and would recommend this service to everyone.

TL;DR/The Short Version: Quick and efficient junk removal…read moreservice. Was very happy with this business. The Slightly Longer Version: We had an old gas range and a snowblower to get rid of. We contacted a few businesses for quotes. Some got back to us quickly, but their prices were high and those with advertised lower prices either never got back to us, said they didn't deal with gas appliances, or only got back to us after we had already booked with Take It Away. Everything was quick and smooth with Take It Away. I emailed Clarence for a quote and he got back to me within minutes. Price was lower than the other businesses who got back to me. We had all the details worked out and appointment booked within the hour. He was available the next day, but we preferred to wait until the weekend. On the scheduled day Clarence and his wife Debbie arrived and were very punctual. At first I was a bit worried because Debbie looked small, but that lady is strong, let me tell you. She and Clarence carried our gas range down a bunch of steps and out to their truck. I was very impressed, lol. The snowblower was easy peasy since it was already in the garage. We paid them and they went on their way. Everyone was all smiles, them and us. They list their prices on their website, so the minimum price is $79 and the price increases as you add more items. It depends on how much space your stuff takes up. So it's $149 if your stuff fills 1/8 of the truck, up to $599 if it fills their entire 1,088 cu/ft truck. I liked the transparency. Great experience all around. I definitely recommend Take It Away Junk Removal! (206)

They engaged fully with me to ensure that everything was going well and according to my needs. Five stars to the team. In dealing with Junk Gods Ottawa, I recommend that you phone and discuss your needs in detail with Robert to ensure that there is a clear understanding of what is to be done and the cost. Otherwise you may be surprised by additional fees for extra time, etc. Four stars instead of five because of the need for additional cost negotiation on arrival at job site, Based on the service received and having negotiated the cost ahead of time, I recommend Junk Gods. AVOID, AVOID, - Long but worth the read. Good reviews mean nothing if you're not taken care of when…read morethings go wrong. I liked my contact in the office and went with my gut. July 10th, our move started well -- the team inspected all the walls both before loading and at the new house before unloading. Good start but unfortunately, went downhill. The move took as long as our move from Montreal two years earlier, including a 2 1/2-hour drive. This move was a 5 minute drive from where we were living. It became clear that our antique furniture was mishandled: My buffet was gouged and a piece broken off the back. The roller ball from an antique table leg fell off and was lost. I asked them to check the truck; the response was "It's dark." I asked them to let me know the next day -- never heard back. My husband's desk had a piece broken off. Too many things to list. Several other items were broken. Boxes were well-labeled, but mostly ignored. Here's where some of them ended up: Cutlery box office upstairs Pantry items furnace room Fancy glasses upstairs hallway Bathroom box office upstairs Master closet items office upstairs Office supplies kitchen counter Living room décor upstairs office cupboard Bedroom furnace room When I couldn't find my cutlery box and asked the team leader for help, he literally said: "Nope, it's late. We're done. Deal with the office." That summed up the attitude perfectly. I still tipped them and said it would have been more. Some boxes weren't found for a long time. One of the movers even said, "It was a bad day." -- It added so much stress especially that boxes couldn't be located. One imoportant box labelled Bedroom wasn't found for over 3 days. It was finally found in the furnace room behind a table that the box wasn't visible. The Aftermath I followed the office's request and sent a detailed email with pictures, copied many people. Then... silence. July 23 - I asked if they could check for a missing box. No response. September - told they'd send someone assess the furniture repair, and did but then nothing. By then, I had already followed my bank's advice after being refused asking to a partial paymenht, submitted all documentation, and they agreed I was justified -- so the payment was reversed. That finally got the company's attention. When they contacted me in November they said they couldn't resolve anything "until payment was made." I told them I would love to pay my but no one had gotten in touch to actually resolve anything or answer questions.. That was the last straw and I spoke with an owner, who was shocked by the breakdown in communication. and other things that happened. He reduced the bill by $300 and sent someone to repair the furniture. They were also supposed to: Install a new roller ball on my table which I supplied btw. Steam clean the upholstered part of my slat bed and realign it. Assess wall chips left by the movers and repair. Arranged for movers to come do this. But it was never clear who was responsible for what.bThe steam cleaning wasn't done by them nor the person who came to assess the wall. One mover even commented he "has bad days all the time." I told him: That's not what customers want to hear.It was arranged for 10:30 and got texted before 8:00 they were on the way. I re-arranged the time again. When I relayed that to the owner, he suddenly decided to cut off communication, even after emailing asking him to call. He claimed the wall and mattress issues "weren't move-related. even after our discussion" They sent $100 and stopped responding completely. All businesses have problems and it's all how it's solved that the story gets told. Final Thoughts This whole experience has left a terrible taste in my mouth. Many details are left out, but in short -- the lack of responsibility, poor communication, and dismissive customer service were unacceptable. Please, avoid this company

After doing 6 utility trailer loads myself I decided it was time for professional help. I called the gang at Capital Junk and talked with Justin who got me all set up for an appointment to send 2 trucks and 2 men to cart it all away. Throughout the process Justin kept me informed and aware of when they were arriving and how long things would take. As we live in the country about an hour drive from Ottawa there was an additional $100 fee per load, which seemed fair given the 2 hour round trip just to get here and back. Paul and Coran arrived at the specified timing and worked like beavers to sort and haul. Despite the fact that it was snowing hard they worked steady and tirelessly. It took them 2 days and 4 truck loads but the results were amazing. Thoughtful, pleasant and respectful, these 2 young men were a credit to their employer and I really enjoyed their wit and conversation which they never used to slack off....they just kept working away through it all. The cost seemed reasonable given the tipping fees, gas and time involved and it was all done swiftly and efficiently. Highly recommend.
