Byler Lane Winery is a cute winery tucked away on a small country road in northern Indiana. This winery boasts beautiful outdoor seating and ample indoor seating. In addition there is a pond on site perfect for sipping wine and watching the sunset. The road it is on has minimal traffic and the seating is set back to allow for a peaceful fun time with friends or a loved one and trying out there multitude of delicious wines. Though they do have some dry wines, I believe their semi-sweet and sweet wines are the the highlights for this winery. Still an outstanding place to come and relax. We were here on a slow Sunday afternoon in which not many people were here. We got the run of the covered outdoor setting and super fast bar service. The outside is still very comfortable. Lots of seating with some in the shade. We had two specialty drinks. My wife really liked the mojito wine - very fresh and tasty. Was disappointed in the food options. They had a limited choice of food on the menu and my boyfriend and I ordered the mini charcuterie board which was The size of a round coaster with two pieces of cheese, three crackers, a piece of meat, and two-three blueberries and grapes. The menu did say it serves one person, but when you drink wine, most people want something a bit larger to balance the alcohol. And they charged $6 for a legit bite of food. What a lovely winery! The atmosphere is comfortable with plenty of places to relax and enjoy a glass of wine - both indoors and out. The tastings were fun - we were able to select six wines and they were served in small glasses on a wooden board. I suspect this was due to COVID, but I'm actually a fan of this method - we get to enjoy them at our leisure. We also picked up a cheese plate - which was a terrific deal with several tasty cheeses and meats at a very affordable price. There was a nice variety of wines - something for everyone. I especially enjoyed the Vino Rita just because it was different and really tasted reminescent of a margarita! Do note that this is a 21+ establishment, so don't bring the kids. read more

I met up with some friends here for the first time and had a lovely time! The caramel apple slushy was insanely delicious! We sat outside and they have a huge patio with fire pits around and it was so relaxing! There was a live band and it was great, not too loud, and a food truck with yummy options! read more

Very very nice winery!! You can tell it's newer and very well thought out. Lots of seating both inside and outside. You can sample 2 wines for free or 6 for $5. The white vintage was amazing! We bought a cold bottle, cheese/meat tray, veggie tray, 2 debrand chocolates and sat on the patio and enjoyed the amazing weather! They have lots of different wines to choose from. They even have a "margarita in a bottle" which is squeezed limes with some other ingredients, no grapes. It was neat to try! read more

If I could give this place six stars I would! So I've lived in Washington, spent time in California, all over the country and have visited many wineries. This one is top notch! It is big and beautiful inside and the outdoor seating is unique and VERY comfortable - cushions and fire pits and all! Plus they have a heated tent area with high quality patio furniture inside. They had a food truck there (RoKo's) that had delicious standard fare plus vegan and gluten free options during my Saturday visit. There was also a live band there that night. But above all, the wines were so absolutely unique and DELICIOUS! I had 2 wine flights before I could decide which wine I wanted to sip on. The service was prompt, smiling, funny, kind, and PLEASANT! Great winery located on a beautiful property. Lots of shaded outdoor seating as well as some covered tables and chairs overlooking a pond. The interior cozy and comfortable as well. We stopped in for a tasting and I enjoyed sampling a variety of different wines. I would say that some of the wines they have labeled as semi sweet are more on the sweet side. Either way, the wine selection was great and I walked away with a couple of bottles I am looking forward to enjoying at a later date. If I lived in the area I would be spending time here on a more regular basis. read more

We only did a tasting but this place was nice! We loved the way the bar was set up to do the tasting, it had coat hooks and a bar for your feet. The tasting a just a tad smaller than I think surrounding places do, which made it hard for us to share but all in all I can't wait to come back and enjoy a glass of wine sitting on the beautiful deck area. read more

We are big winery fans. In the summer, we typically try to check out a new one every other weekend or so. Since we were itching for spring, we decided to try Byler Lane. It was a bit out of the way for us, but I'm so grateful we chose to go. The whole tasting room has such a homey feel. There was live music, but it wasn't too loud. We all (three of us) did a tasting, which is offered complementary, and got a glass of wine. The girl that did our wine tasting was knowledgeable about the wines and told us her favorites. We were incredibly surprised to find out she was in training! I got the Pinot Gris, which was so perfectly balanced and the perfect amount of dry and had a barely there sweetness. They also had excellent dry reds and I even enjoyed their sweeter wines, and I'm not traditionally a sweet wine fan. We sat on the couches that they have nestled by a fireplace and noticed there were some dice games on the coffee table, so we grabbed one and started playing while we listened to the music. We could have stayed for hours. Overall, I loved this little spot. It's super cozy, it has a rustic, farmhouse feel to it, and the wines are delicious! Everyone who works there treats you like a houseguest (no uppity wine connoisseurs here)! Even though it's out of the way for us, and a bit off the beaten path, we'll be back again and again! read more

This place is beyond adorable. The building is made with repurposed old barn wood and it's got a rustic feel. The Vinyard is beautiful. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. My bf found out about this place and took me there for my birthday, and I'm so glad he did. It's kind of out in the middle of nowhere, so a bit of a drive for us but was well worth it. We did a wine tasting and then ordered slushies to drink outside on the patio. There wasn't a ton of choices being that this place is still new, but overall the wines we had were great, not too dry but not too sweet either. The building itself and the patio area are super cute and relaxed. I'm a big fan of country heritage so this was semi similar, but still a different enough to draw people in. I am so excited to have Byler Lane in DeKalb County. It is a fantastic winery with delicious wine with a beautifully decorated rustic ambiance. There is a large outdoor space with plenty of seating. From picnic tables to comfortable patio furniture with umbrellas, perfect for socializing in comfort. Last night a food truck was there providing a one stop establishment for a nice date night. The wine tastings are complimentary. Most of the wines are on the sweeter side. They offer 2 wine slushies which were perfect mixed together. It is hard to believe that this is a new business considering how seamlessly everything appeared to be running. I plan to make many return trips to Byler Lane! read more

Beautiful place decorated for fall. They were cooking something amazing smelling on the patio and setting up for a band that evening. We visited last weekend while on the Indiana grown wine trail. It was a very busy place with a lot of space so it wasn't crowded feeling. I love the names of their wines too. My favorite wine was the Foch Sho. Staff is incredibly RUDE! I am a 49 yo and drove in a significant snow, was 'carded' for the tasting (which btw was RIDICULOUS! Two free, $5 for 5! Country Heritage is NO CHARGE!). A young 20 something looked at my license and told me she couldn't serve me because "Indiana State Law requires my ID to be valid". To my surprise my ID had expired two days prior. Upon some research of Indiana law & validating with a sgt with FWPD, there *is no law* that requires the ID to be valid! Further, Excise suggestion is to ask for ID of anyone that, "...looks 26 or younger". I then called to inform them of this and was laughed at by the 'manager' and hung up on. Never have I've been treated SO RUDE! It's sad because I've been to Byler 4 times, and I enjoyed their wine along with 3 of my closest friends. We have spent significant money there before, but here we sit at Country Heritage Winery, a short 6 miles away, and we will NEVER return to Byler. These ppl need to learn how to handle a difficult situation because bad customer service SPREADS like wildfire! read more

This is a beautiful place for a date. The scenery and area is very relaxing. On the day I was there, they had food which I did not eat but it looked delicious. I was a little frustrated about the nobody under 18 policy but after being contacted by Mr. Byler personally about my experience, I understand it more. I appreciate when owners take the time to contact customers who were not happy with an experience. Mr. Byler was professional and caring in his email to me. I am a dry red wine fan but I did enjoy their Riesling. Mr. Byler informed me he would have more red wines soon due to the fact red wines take longer to make. I highly recommend going to Byler Lane Winery for a quiet afternoon and evening. I will definitely be going back some time when I can find a babysitter. Cute little winery with a great view. They give you a free wine tasting where you can pick 5 different wines off of their menu to try. Glasses of wine are 5-9 dollars which isn't bad at all. I typically will buy a bottle to split with a friend and a meat and cheese plate (4 dollars for small, 8 for large). Prices are cheap compared to any other Winfrey you will go to. Slushees are around 5 dollars and basically the bomb.com. 10/10 would recommend just for the chill laid back environment alone. As if that's not good enough they also do trivia nights on Friday or Saturday nights and the occasional food truck camp out. It's an amazing time if you just want a chill ahh out night, dressy girls night, date night, or solo binge drinking fest. Plus they have Debrand's chocolate so can you really go wrong? This is my go to hang it for any occasion especially since it's so big and spacious with AMAZING views. Forever coming back here and you should too. read more
