With all things wonderful and tea related, this place is great for sitting down for an afternoon refuel. A great selection of traditional and unusual teas. The owner is a sweet and charming man who provided outstanding table side service. Free entry to the museum when you order food and/or refreshments. The museum itself isn't huge, but it does show a massive range of teapots from all different eras including one from the eighteen hundreds.

We went there in October 2014, where the place was in the progress of being renovated. The main dining area was fully reserved as they were expecting a tour group, so we had to sit in the area which was just renovated. They had a sign that the final touches were not completed, but from the experience we had, we didn't like the renovated area. They used foldable tables and the floor isn't carpeted, as such the noise in the area echoes and can get quite noisy. The food here is over priced, so you're there for the atmosphere and experience; as such it was quite disappointing. We had lunch there and initially wanted to try the Devonshire tea, but as the area we were sitting was noisy and not enjoyable, we decided against it. They have a teapot museum in the shop too and you can purchase some of the items. Those were quite interesting to look at. Probably won't busy there any time soon and might try it again once the renovations are fully completed. Even then, we'll go in first to see how the sitting area is like before committing to dining there.

Bygone Beautys - where more is more. Should be the slogan. Housed in a gorgeous old cottage, Bygone Beautys is an antiques & collectibles store/tearoom that also houses the Treasured Teapot Museum, apparently the World's Largest Private Collection of teapots. Who ever said the Mountains attracted eccentrics? Needless to say, it's a little cluttered. To put it mildly and with genteel understatement appropriate to a tearoom. Crockery and antiques gather on every available surface, right up to the ceiling. As delicate crockery, small children and tight spaces breed disaster, this is not the place to bring small kids. You can view the over 3000 teapots (sheesh!) buy antique jewellery, kitchenalia, teacups and saucers while also having a spot of devonshire tea at the tables at the back. The 'beauties' on offer run the gamut from blue ceramic scottie dogs (never understood the obsession with scottie dogs) to a zylonite dressing-table set to antique mourning rings. And quite a few feather boas. Somebody quite likes feather boas methinks. It reminds me of being in some eccentric old aunt's house where you'll get cracked over the knuckles with a walking stick if you happen to move something or breathe incorrectly. It has to be seen to be believed.

This is concerning the restaurant. Additionally, this review is all about the service…read more We went here as part of a tour group of 20. Our orders were taken ahead of time and called ahead by our tour guide. First, let me say, we found the food quite tasty. I had the vegetarian burger with eggplant and chipotle sauce. It was flavorful, well seasoned, and accompanied by perfect hot chips. My husband also enjoyed his grilled fish and chips with tartare sauce. Despite being in a remote mountain town, it was as food or better than anything we had eaten in Sydney. The restaurant itself was quaint and cozy and had beautiful views of the Blue Mountains. But then there was the service. And that's where the three stars come in. It would have been five stars otherwise. One member of our tour group changed their order. Then there was a simple to fix mix up between my order and the order of another group member. The staff member (unsure if he was a server or kitchen manager or what) LOUDLY proclaimed what a pain tour groups are and how ridiculous we all were. He then stomped off. And when he returned, he was extremely RUDE to the group leader. These tour groups must bring hundreds of dollars to this small town restaurant. They bring multiple tours of 20+ people each week. If they don't care about them, I can't imagine this establishment cares about anyone. I don't care how good the food is, I would never return after being treated like trash.

Good food. Poor service. Messed up our drink order (ordered…read more2, poured 3). Food order was lost or forgotten. Luckily a passing female employee noticed we were sitting there watching others at our table eating their lunch while we had none. Food finally arrived without an excuse, reason, or apology for the long delay.
