The venue itself is exquisite. Every detail of the decor is charming and in line with the historical significance of The Carrington. Facilities are always clean and the staff patient despite the size of the crowd. I can't give five stars since I have never been in a private guest room, but if the public spaces are any indication, this is a great place to stay.

Our room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Our spa tub worked very well and was perfect after a long day of hiking. Everything was absolutely delicious. You will love staying here- I know we did.

This was the first time staying at a motel in Sydney, but it came with a mini-fridge, hot water kettle, toaster, microwave and serving ware for two. On check-in with the friendly Aussie reception, we received a pint a of milk for our tea. Free milk? Even if we are out in the mountains, this is a civilized place ;) Oh and the hot breakfast was amazing. Motels in the States are quite different, but to be fair, the room prices were much closer to a lower end hotel. Make sure to ask about WiFi password, and how to turn on the electric blanket before reception closes. It was unseasonable chilly, and were too lazy to figure out night reception, but luckily we got the radiator to work. FYI, the phone didn't connect to anything, but we (typical Americans) had a good laugh at the STD line sign. Turns out STD stands for the state run telephone service. Definitely recommended!

Our orders were taken ahead of time and called ahead by our tour guide. First, let me say, we found the food quite tasty. I had the vegetarian burger with eggplant and chipotle sauce. It was flavorful, well seasoned, and accompanied by perfect hot chips. My husband also enjoyed his grilled fish and chips with tartare sauce. Despite being in a remote mountain town, it was as food or better than anything we had eaten in Sydney. The restaurant itself was quaint and cozy and had beautiful views of the Blue Mountains. But then there was the service. And that's where the three stars come in. It would have been five stars otherwise. One member of our tour group changed their order. Then there was a simple to fix mix up between my order and the order of another group member. The staff member (unsure if he was a server or kitchen manager or what) LOUDLY proclaimed what a pain tour groups are and how ridiculous we all were. He then stomped off. And when he returned, he was extremely RUDE to the group leader. These tour groups must bring hundreds of dollars to this small town restaurant. They bring multiple tours of 20+ people each week. If they don't care about them, I can't imagine this establishment cares about anyone. I don't care how good the food is, I would never return after being treated like trash.

The tour buses all stop, but not for long, so if you can wait a few minutes you can get the whole thing to yourself, if only briefly. A one bedroom typically rents for about $189 AUD, but we were able to talk them down to $125, which is the cost of a studio. I'm guessing they agreed because it was in the winter, which I'm guessing is their low season. Anyway, it's a great deal for the price we paid. Each apartment comes with a bedroom that either has a portable heater or electric blankets. The bathroom has a hot tub. The spacious living room is heated. There is a small kitchen with plates, cups, bowls, and cutlery. There is a full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker and water boiler. Basically, the kitchen is fully stocked. You can also leave your luggage there and pick up later should you want to explore the little town more on your check out day. I would definitely recommend Leisure Inn Spires to anyone who plans to visit the Blue Mountains. And an added bonus, the train station is right across the street and there is a hop on hop off bus stop for the Blue Mountains within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It's hard to ask for a more convenient location than this.
