I've been attending trivia at Syberg's on Dorsett for about 3 years running, every Tuesday; I think…read moreI've missed maybe a half dozen times when I was out of town. It is by far the best trivia I've ever taken part in. The rounds are organized properly and coherently, the questions are varied and provide a good balance of challenge and fun, they mix up the categories regularly, each round is its own game, unlike some other annoying trivia nights where you need to know 95% of all the answers ALL NIGHT in order to get any sort of prize, and it's all free to boot. One of the big selling points(for me at least) for this trivia night is that there are rules to the game, and they are actually enforced, which is a good thing unless you're pretty much an ass. As Murph has said on more than one occasion, "It takes a special kind of person to cheat for a $10 gift card." but at other trivia events there are, in fact, no rules about cell phone use, so the music rounds are more about who can more diligently press their Shazam/Soundhound to the ceiling than what people actually know. It's just so damn satisfying when you dig deep and actually come up with the answer for some of this stuff, I mean, no one else in my group was going to know that Nick Guilder sang Hot Child in the City, hell, they didn't even know it was a guy singing. Now, aside from the trivia nights at Sybergs, this company does events and such, and I didn't really have much of a use for that until recently, I just enjoyed it at Syberg's. The event that we needed his service for happened to be a small charity event in town at a place called Deserts on the Boulevard. We pretty much walked up to Steve at Syberg's and asked if he was able to do it, exchanged emails and off we went. After he cleared up that he was free on the night in question we were locked and loaded. Steve Murphy, or Murph as we call him, is the owner of the company and usually the guy behind the microphone. This is a good thing too, because the man has his shit together. When we were setting up our amateur event he was helping us along the way with little suggestions here and there to make things run more smoothly and efficiently, he has clearly done these sort of things and understands how it all works. Other than just making everything just a little better, even stuff that he wasn't directly involved in, he has something you just can't teach, he has the voice, and on top of that he just speaks in such a way on mic that is somehow better than other DJs, he has presence. This guy could announce for the Cardinals and no one would miss John Ulett. Our event went off without a hitch, he arrived early and coped well with the venue's poor systems and could have easily brought his own if we had not been misinformed about the facilities we had at our disposal, though he did have some extra stuff anyway that made it better than it might have been. So he was more prepared than we had told him to be basically. I encourage anyone having an event needing DJ services, Karaoke, Trivia nights, or anything involving a man with a deep sexy voice, to use Sound of St. Louis. P.S. I *hate* writing reviews, but these guys deserve some exposure.

I've also been attending Syberg's trivia for awhile now--about half a year--and it's by far the BEST trivia night experience I've ever had. He definitely has "the voice" and I swear he could do radio or be an announcer!! I'm generally not so good at trivia but every so often there will be a question or two that I happen to know to help our team out. Best of all it's free! He DJs at multiple locations too so if you can't go to Westport, hit up a different Syberg's or Helen Fizgerald's. We had the pleasure of having Murph DJ for our charity event at Desserts on the Blvd. The sound quality wasn't so hot but that wasn't his fault. His voice is really clear, though, so I never have problems understanding him. I like how he mixed it up with an audio round too. it definitely got everyone's blood flowing! Sometimes he does visual rounds too which I think is very brilliant and innovative. The questions are usually spot-on in terms of increasing difficulty and #15 is always a "give me" question which is nice if you sat through a whole round of celeb trivia not having a clue about it. But that's the great thing about it...each round you get a chance to win a giftcard, and the rounds are totally different. Seriously. Hire this man. For your party or whatever. If we ever get married (LOL) we are SO hiring Murph!!!

The pressure kicks in so that adds to the fun. I went with my fellow Yelp elite members so we had a large group so we played two rounds and ensured everyone got a a turn in 2 hours. The time really flies so enjoy every minute! A tip would be to come up with your best family friendly nickname so the MCs can call you to the stage! The two MCs were so welcoming and supportive of all of our members. They even made a few modifications for us who needed to be seated versus standing. That is a huge plus for mobility accessibility. The game room is not too noisy and all the words or numbers were large on the screen too for those with auditory concerns. The venue was very accessible and the restroom was gender neutral but I did not see a changing table to maybe leave the little littles at home. There is a room to set up banquet tables if you host a party to eat. They also sell juice, tea, lemonade, beer, seltzer, soda, and wines!

We loved all of the games literally. There was not one game that we didn't have fun in. I do feel like it was very competitive as it should be and I love that. They offered drinks as well. The hosts were both amazing and they were literally made to do that job. I can't wait to try it again with my family and friends!

So what was it like? The service is a mixed bag. You have to go to the service, it doesn't come to you. The menu is not too complicated. We came for pizza. And all the pizzas have an artist name. We had the Francis Bacon. It's a meat pizza that's pretty good on top but the crust was so burnt it killed the pizza joy. At $18.50 this pizza shouldn't be charcoal around the crust. On the other hand the salads were excellent. The small ranch salad was a delightful mix of romaine with bacon, heirloom tomatoes, Parmesan with some very thinly sliced onions and a delicious ranch dressing. This was the best $5.49 salad I've ever had and it was the redeeming dish for our meal. Overall the food was satisfactory in quantity but take ten points off for the burnt crust. We put in our order at the bar where we had to wait in line. Minus 10 points. The salad arrived quickly but the wait for the pizza was longer than expected. I guess they need extra time to burn the crust. Now as to ambiance. There isn't any. It's a neighborhood joint. The stools are too high and the benches outside are too hard. But in the end we enjoyed it. It's a neighborhood joint.
