When we first got to the winery, at the parking lot, we had a little fun encounter with a dog owner who was trying to get his new puppy out of the cars she was hiding underneath in. After we successfully got the puppy out (thank goodness!), us and the dog owner just had the most amazing time chatting inside the bar area of the winery. It was such a beautifully decorated speakeasy. Not only the wine collection was tasty, the hostess LA was super friendly + attentive. We felt like we were just hanging out with some long time friends there and hours gone by just like that! Thank you LA, thank you Karlo Estates for giving me such an incredible + memorable afternoon.

Service was good while we were there and I would recommend visiting this winery over the others in the area mainly because there's such a great variety here.

I'm ok with lower sugar wines as long as they're more fruity, but haven't developed a liking for high acid wines. (I learned from the server here that due to the soil/weather conditions, the wines in this region are higher in acidity, more mineral-y and that's not really my thing.) Keint-He seems to specialise in Chards/Pinot Noirs. And I haven't really delved too deeply into either variety to say whether or not what I tasted were good examples of either wines. 4 x 1oz pours for their Mixed Flight was $19, so not super bad. Recent pricing is $12, and you get to taste four wines, and if it's not too busy like the day we went, the staff allowed us to taste a couple more. We sampled all 6. Outside seating only and underneath shaded gazebos or in the sun. It can get windy so prepare a jacket if you're in the shade. The stone oven pizza, salad and staff were fantastic. Most staff there are seasonal student workers. I personally love the John Bil wine, a blend of dry riesling and chardonnay. They also credit your wine tasting if you buy $20 of wine. On your wine purchase, they give you a handy reusable wine tote bag with divided interior spacing to hold up to 6 wines. Perfect for when we go on LCBO runs to refill our small wine stash or purchase from the next winery

She answered all of our questions in detail about each of the wines. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting with her. The oysters were medium sized and tasted very fresh. The restaurant had plenty of outside seating (and is dog friendly!), with a rustic feel to it. The winery itself was beautiful. We loved our time at Norman Hardie and would definitely recommend it!

Greer Road Grocer has a food truck outside the winery and it was fantastic to buy a glass of wine and then order from the food truck. We shared an AMAZING sweet potato tostada and po' boy sandwich. The tasting room attendant was cheerful and friendly, telling us about each of the wines and sharing some of her favourites. I had six samples in total: the 2013 Windward White Blend (which would be great with spicy food), the 2014 Pinot Gris, the "Friend's Rose" (which is the one I bought - it was bright pink, with lots of berry and some rhubarb, a definite afternoon sipper), the 2013 St. Laurent, the 2013 Gamay Noir and the 2012 Meritage. Tastings were, I believe, $1/sample but they were waived with purchase. This is an environmentally friendly, solar powered winery with a sustainable mindset! Interesting. They make a Port wine but they can't call it Port (we're not in Portugal) so it's called The Navy Left PxxT. Cute. In addition to the wine, we were also treated to some pizza, made in their wood-burning oven. It was pretty good! Our tutoured tasting was led by Woody, who was celebrating his birthday.
