Extremely Disappointing Pool Construction Experience
My overall experience with this pool construction project was extremely disappointing. The biggest issues were poor project management, lack of communication, inadequate coordination, and a lack of accountability throughout the construction process.
My project manager, Mai, was particularly disappointing. When I initially signed the agreement, Mai assured me that I would receive good communication, professional project management, and a positive customer experience. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Throughout the project, communication was inconsistent and often nonexistent. I repeatedly had to follow up for updates regarding schedules, delays, next steps, and unresolved issues. As the homeowner, I felt that I had to personally monitor the project and essentially act as my own project manager.
A professional pool construction company should have a clear process for communicating schedules, coordinating subcontractors, identifying problems, and keeping the homeowner informed. That level of organization and oversight was missing throughout my project.
The quality of work and attention to detail were also concerning. I reported problems with defective equipment from the beginning of the project, yet these issues were not properly addressed by the company. Instead, I was directed to deal with the manufacturer and warranty process myself. I do not believe a homeowner should be left to resolve equipment problems that were identified during the construction process.
The pool's water-bubble feature has also been a major disappointment and has not performed as I expected. When I raised concerns or asked questions about problems with the project, I often felt that my concerns were met with frustration rather than a genuine effort to resolve them.
There was also a serious issue involving the remaining balance on my account. I had provided authorization for the company to process a one-time charge using my card. The company had the card information and authorization, yet more than two months passed without the remaining balance being fully charged. Despite this, I was subsequently accused of not paying the balance. If the company had the authorization and failed to process the payment as agreed, that should not have been presented to me as though I had simply refused to pay.
My interactions with Mai were particularly frustrating. On one occasion, I felt that Mai laughed at me and treated me disrespectfully while I was attempting to address legitimate concerns about my project. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with professionalism and respect, especially when discussing problems with a significant home construction project.
Overall, this project lacked organization, proactive communication, accountability, quality control, and professional customer service. I experienced unnecessary frustration and stress throughout the process.
I expected a significantly higher level of project management, workmanship, communication, and customer service from a professional pool construction company. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of those expectations.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously and uses it to improve project supervision, customer communication, equipment quality control, payment processing, and employee accountability. Homeowners should not have to repeatedly chase their project manager for information, monitor construction themselves, or fight to have legitimate concerns taken seriously. read more
