We went twice over the week and the second time (indoor seating earlier in the evening) was definitely better than the first time (outdoor seating around 8:30). Stopped here on a whim while walking by. I got a buffalo chicken sandwich which was way better than I expected, my brother got fish and chips or shrimp I forgot but he enjoyed it. My friend got ahi tuna tacos that she really enjoyed. None of us liked their fries (shoestring esque with an odd seasoning), my brother lovedddd his old fashioned and my friend really liked her jalapeño margarita. My water cup was dirty but I didn't ask for another one, just drank my bottled water instead. No one was wearing a mask though, which some people don't care (or as it appeared most people didn't care in Carolina Beach anymore as opposed to when I went there a few months ago). Our server wasn't wearing a mask and would lean superrrr close to talk to us which was a little awkward, but she was nice and probably just assumed we didn't care if she was directly in our faces like that. Meh, mediocre food. Catfish bites were funky tasting. The blackened swordfish was okay. The blackened shrimp tacos were probably the best choice of the table but not much shrimp. I read online there were Sunday taco specials but the waitress said she didn't know of any. Their version of a Margarita was nasty - I think it was Buzzarita. This is a place you want to stop in. Not only is the customer service fantastic but the food is tasty. We had the calamari for starters and it wasn't as crispy as I would have liked but let's be honest it was tasty and it came with a variety of the rings and the actual tentacles which I throughly enjoy. It's also came with peppers that had been soaked in sugar water or jelly but basically the tasty was sweet and hot and different. Then we ordered the crab legs platter and I got the French dip. My only complaint is that the French dip didn't last longer. The meat was sooooo good, it wasn't overly bready, it was nice and hot and gooey and it came with shoe string fries. I had lunch here the other day. It's a bar/restaurant at the boardwalk; no windows, so no view, but it's a cool place. It's probably more fun at night. We had never been to Carolina Beach before this trip. We were staying at a hotel on the boardwalk, so Buzz's Roost was very convenient for us. We tried out lunch on our first day, amazing. We went back the next day for lunch AND dinner. Between the three meals we had: Crab Balls, Smoked BBQ Sliders, Mozzarella Sticks, Peel and Eat Shrimp and Lobster Tacos and fries. All of the food was very tasty and well presented. My husband enjoyed the daily beer specials they have. If we are ever in CB again, Buzz's Roost is where we will be. read more

A pretty good crabcake right next to the beach! We stopped in on a busy Saturday afternoon, hoping to grab a bit while walking out pooches. Luckily the restaurant wasn't too full and we were told to take a seat on the patio and a waitress would be with us in a moment. 15 minutes later no luck. Went back in to ask again and was told she'd be out soon. 10 more minutes and we went back in to ask once again. Finally a waitress followed us out to take our orders. Had to ask for a bowl of water for the pups but from that point on service was actually very good, she was very nice and our drinks, food and check arrived promptly! I ordered the crabcake sandwich and it was actually very yummy! It was huge and tasted fresh, though the sandwich fell apart pretty easily. The fries that came with it were hot and fresh and seasoned deliciously, and my sister's pasta salad side was very good as well. We had no complaints over the food! All in all for a crabcake sandwich and a fried fish platter it came out to a little over $20, which wasn't too bad at all. as a CB Local have visited Buzz's a number of times and twice in the past few weeks. Great location & bar staff and very good fish taco's. Not sure what is happening with the wait staff or the kitchen. In both visits the wrong food was delivered. on first visit instead of Swordfish taco he brought the Lobster Taco? which was less expensive. No explanation just sorry. When similar happened the next week - completely wrong item it became evident something is amiss; took 2 tries and 15 minutes to get it right. The Bartender offered some compensation; was apologetic and she was well tipped. hopefully the kitchen/staff communication improves. read more

I really don't have enough good things to say about this place. We chose this restaurant as we had a dog with us and it offered outdoor seating. Even though dogs are not technically allowed on the boardwalk (loosely enforced) they went out of their way to accommodate us. Right away the bartender brought our dog some water and our server was great. He gave good recommendations on the best things to order and how to get them cooked. Also, he was excellent at anticipating our needs (bringing drink refills before we even asked for them). The food was delicious and they had a wide variety of fresh seafood. We came in and our server came up and was normal at first, I and my friend ordered sweet teas, they tasted old and unsweet. We asked for different drinks. The food came out at a nice paste. They had missed one of our sides and our server brought it out But 2/4 of our plates were cold. We didn't really care, it was alright. When we got our check, we noticed the teas were on the check. & when our server "Breezy" came back, we asked her to remove them. She said that technically, we used the teas since she had to throw them out. I just said we didnt use them/like the taste (as i said they were old) so we wouldnt like to pay for something that wasnt good. She proceeded to snatch the check out of my hand and go in the back. She came back and said "here, ill just pay for them myself" and then walked away. We asked her to come back, and asked for her manager. She told us there was no manager on duty & walked away again. My friend went to the bar and asked if there was a manager and she said she was the manager. So, my friend told her and she was like okay so your good tho? so my friend just came back over. We then debated if we should even pay, since the whole experience was terrible. She came back and was like so are yall gonna pay and we said we just dont feel comfortable for paying for such a bad experience. And she was like oh so you arent gonna pay now? and i was like nobody said we weren't paying, we just arent happy with our experience and as a server its literally your job to make that the best as possible. She said she was not a server, she was actually a chef. This is even more reason to represent your store well. She amount of attitude she had, and disrespect we put up with when dealing with her. But we paid and left. My friend saw/heard her talking shit as we left & decided to flip her off. But she then decided to come out and say next time ill refuse your service! We started with some great apps, including blackened catfish bites, calamari that had a kicking 3 pepper chutney sauce and fried pickles! Our party of 8 had Mahi Mahi, Mako, soft crabs, Opah, swordfish and a burger! The fresh catch was in tacos and over salads that were very tasty as well! The taco shells were unique homemade flour ones that were firm but not crunchy like corn, but not soggy, if that makes sense. Everything was cooked perfectly and everyone wants to come back again! No offer of drink refills, no concern for our table. We waited nearly 45 minutes for our food. The tiny corn cob was ice cold, clearly frozen, not fresh. The seafood tasted ok, but the service was appallingly slow. The manager was kind and comped our meal, but it was clear that they were slammed and no one who knew what they were doing.
