At the checkout, I feel like I am in line at Seinfeld's Soup Nazi. Everyone queues patiently...as we pass in front of the smoked glass, raised office. I understand we are all trying to reduce our carbon footprint, but when I buy 2 four-packs and a six-pack of ale, I don't like getting a negative comment or sour puss when I ask for a box or bag...(hey, they are reused and then I recycled the box). The staff at the checkout seem robotic and try as best as possible to get one through the buying process ASAP. (Yes, when I go they often are busy.)...at the end of the work-day. I've never had anyone ask me if I needed help, unlike some other liquor stores. Some stores have employees in the aisles that one can ask for help...not here...only seemingly disinterested/uninspired stock people. Why do I go here? It's close to work and home, and it has a fair variety of beer...some of the craft beers are cold, which is good. BUT you MUST check the dates on the product. Management does NOT check them. Once I brought a six-pack a year old to the counter and I was met with "I don't see what's the problem"? For now, I have stopped bringing out-of-date beer to the counter - the staff doesn't seem to have a clue what to do. Parking is never a problem. (There is a bank next door.) I have no comment as to their wines or spirits because don't buy these. They have good bargains, so check it out, One weird minor detail...their new beer arrival section is NOT that...what they put there is certainly a capricious decision: I cannot figure out why they put those beers there...no clue. This establishment is in it SOLELY for the $$$. At least some places employ people who have an interest in beer and are glad to help...not so, here. I go to other liquor stores where there are people have a sincere passion about beer (problem, is that they're not as close as this place). One must go here often, keeping up on product that is fresh. Sometimes I do find something very fresh. Again, beware of the "best-by" dates or dates when the beers were bottled/canned. They do accept the NJCB (New Jersey Craft Beer) card for a 10% discount. But you must meet their criteria of buying a case worth of craft beer. I once bought a couple 4-packs and some 750ml bottles which totaled over $80. Management would not budge on the "case" requirement: 4 six-packs. That's it. read more

You'll find all the mainstream spirits, wine and brew just fine - just don't ask the help to locate a more elusive bottle as product knowledge is virtually nil. The older woman behind the counter is utterly appalling!!! She has all the child seats on the cart zip tied. So when I went in with my toddler I had no where safe to put him while I shopped. She told me to put him in the main basket WITH my wine bottles. Any parent knows that would result in wine bottles being thrown out of the cart by a toddler. When I asked for accommodations to shop safely for myself, toddler as other patrons. Her response was - this is a liquor store we don't care about parents you should leave you kid at home! In my opinion, this joint is A-OK, if you know what you want, aren't a fancy wine or beer drinker, and just want to pick up a case of Budwiser or a bottle of Yellowtail and be in and out, like the Flash ;) The store isn't huge, so do not expect a huge selection of wine like Joe Canals, but they have a decent collection. I've bought some really good red Sicilian and Bordeaux wines here at a fair price. They also always have a sale on a bottle of Robert Mondavi, J Lohr, or McManis, which are notable wines but nothing fancy. As far as beer, selection isn't huge, but they have domestic and craft beer. My dad comes here at least once a week though and buys a random case. Schaefer is his favorite, my grandpa used to drink it often. It's not bad, seriously! I've also seen him buy Busch, Budweiser, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Corona. My father is a simple man and keeps his beer selection quite simple, and cheap. If you are anything like my dad, this liquor store will do the trick for you. Hard alcohol is here too, but once again, the selection is small, and in my mind, a bit too small. I wouldn't come here looking for a trendy or fancy vodka. If they do carry it, I'm sure you can find it cheaper elsewhere, as liquor here is on the pricey side. If you are down the shore though and want to make a drink with Captain Morgan's rum or Smirnoff vodka they have it. If you are like me, buy your belvedere elsewhere! haha! They won't have it or if they do, you will be paying way too much. However, the basics are here. As far as service, I've would not say the employees are rude, but they are certainly not friendly. The are very direct and to the point. I also feel like they rush you, and by the time you try to put the money back in your wallet they are waving on the next person. If you are a no frills, keep it simple type of drinker, and just want to be in and out with your purchase, this is your store. Every once in a blue moon, I come to this liquor store when I'm trying to find something in particular (usually hunting for a specific beer that other liquor stores don't carry). Every time I do this, I'm reminded why I generally avoid this liquor store like the plague. If you're looking for craft beer, this is certainly one of the last stops I'd suggest. It isn't that they don't have any craft here; moreso that what they do have is usually quite old and stale (past its best buy date). That said, the selection isn't exactly huge, and seems to cater to the typical Budweiser drinker / "craft-lite" crowd that buys things like Blue Moon and Stella Artois. Every time I go here, I usually end up staring at the coolers filled with generic mass-produced beers before begrudgingly selecting a six pack of something that isn't past its prime / is actually interesting. Not a ton of local craft beer in stock either. The other issue here is the employees, sadly. I wouldn't call them rude, but they aren't exactly friendly either. It honestly feels like they just want you out of the store as fast as possible, and as other reviewers have said - are very direct and blunt. I get it - retail sucks to work in, I did it for years myself. I don't expect people to be gleefully smiling at every moment and putting on a fake appearance, but it feels real crappy to go up to pay, trying to be friendly to the cashier, only to be shoved along and rushed out the door without even a shred of courtesy. If you're looking for cheap beer (PBR, Coors, Bud, Blue Moon, and every other big-name mass produced thing), they probably have it here. There are 2 register, the place was empty and I stand in front of register #2, he came from the rear and stand in front of register #1 and did not said a word. Unless you can't find what you want in another Liquor Store don't patronise this location. When you go into the store there is an employee by a table that has a box of LATEX gloves on it. He is telling everyone that you need to wear gloves to go into the store and if you don't have any you MUST buy a pair of theirs for Fifty Cents. First of all the NJ Regulations according to nj.covid.gov only require employees to wear gloves. Customers and Employees are required to wear masks according to this section of the site Require workers and customers to wear cloth face coverings, and require workers to wear gloves. A business must provide, at its own expense, these face coverings and gloves for employees. Customers may be exempted if it would inhibit their health, or if under two years of age. If a customer refuses, they must be denied entry, unless the business is providing medication, medical supplies, or food, in which case another method of pickup should be provided. Nowhere does that say that CUSTOMERS must wear gloves Since I did not have gloves I had to buy theirs. This meant I had to put my hand in a box and remove two gloves. Everyone before me had to remove them too. These gloves were LATEX. I don't have a Latex allergy but what about those that do? Additionally, let's say you have your own gloves. Chances are you are NOT removing them and discarding them every time you go somewhere else. Most likely you are putting them on when you leave the house and then taking them off at home. That means any germs you pick up you are spreading on the cart and any bottles you touch and do not take with you. The CDC's own advice does not mention gloves. It does mention washing your hands and cleaning items that are touched. I requested that they write on the receipt that the fee charged is for using the gloves they had and they refused to. I wonder if that is because they are concerned they will get in trouble to charging too much for gloves. Until this location changes their policy I strongly suggest visiting another Liquor Store. read more

Rude and arrogant. There were two registers. I was waiting at the right register. A lady went up to the left register and the Indian clerk stepped up to the register and rang her up. I said is this register open? The tall Indian clerk started scolding me and said sarcastically, Do you see anyone there? All this while he glared at me with the meanest face you've ever seen. He could have said, I'll take you next or he could have stepped over to the next register. He was mean for no reason. There is no supervision so they can behave as rude as they like. When he was done with his tirade I left the two bottles I intended to purchase on the counter, pulled back my money and left. Turns out that I saved $4 by going to the Buy Rite on Chamersbridge Rd. As a customer, I expect polite treatment which I did not receive there. That's why I always check yelp reviews. I well never patronize that store again. Rude and arrogant. Sorry, I meant arrogant and rude. I know that this is in a good location, between Brick and Pt. Pleasant, but if it wasn't a liquor store, but, say, a restaurant f'instance, or any other business dependant on service, they'd be long gone. When asking for service, or say bag for a 6 pack, you've made to feel as if they're doing you a big favor. One particular incident caused me to stop patronizing them. I put a bottle on the check out counter, and realized that I forgot to get something. When I returned, they had put it back. OK, accidents happen. But when I asked what happened to the bottle, the tall slim Indian guy, instead of apologizing, proceeded to reprimand me. I reminded him that I am the customer, and he became more belligerent, saying "so what?". I don't know if he's related to the owner, or what, but they should make it clear to the employees how to behave professionally. I don't appreciate paying to be insulted. read more

I would rate Buy Rite 0 stars. This store is definitely Buy Wrong. The tall indian should not be in business. When checking out I asked what price my bottle of wine rang up at just to make sure it was not in the wrong bin. He rudely and very arrogantly said didn't you read the price. I told him don't be a wise guy just tell me the register price. He then went into a verbal tirade and I told him I would never come back to this store. His reply was good. At that point my wife came to the counter with 5 additional bottles to check out in a cart and I told her leave it in the center of the floor we are out of here. Yayyyyyyyyyyy! They had the Dailys Salted Caramel. I looked online and this was the only store in area that had it. The craft beer section is huge which my husband really enjoyed. I was able to get in and get out quickly. I will definitely shop here again. read more

New Not your fathers root beer ..I purchased it in store was told they didnt receive what they ordered on five cases..I purchase a six pack at $16 and was told it was same price all over...NOT TRUE !!
