I have been a customer for nearly 2 years. My heat was not working and it was a Sunday. I called and the driver told me on the phone that he would have to collect a check with a $200.00 service call charge but if I called on Monday morning and explained the situation they would waive the charge. When he came he also told me to say to tell them that my gauge was not working. He said they waive this all the time and it wouldn't be a problem. Surprise0it was a problem! They refused to waive it and the driver lied and said he didn't tell me that. This is awful to do when a customer is in such a vulnerable situation. This is poor customer care. Also when I called, office manager Danielle indicated that I can always find another company if I wasn't happy. This was awkward and didn't leave me feeling valued as a customer. read more

I called Buxton at 7:20am because our oil had run out and of course now we didn't have any heat. By 8:10am Buxton's driver came out, filled the tank, started up the furnace again and was back out on the road. The driver (sorry I didn't get his name) showed me an issue with the furnace as well to have that checked out. SO grateful that he noticed because it has to do with the shutter for the Co2 exhaust! Absolutely the worst customer service. I called on a Tuesday and was told my oil would be delivered that week. I called again on Friday after they did not show up, and was told by the manager Danielle that I was told next week. Did not happen. She insisted it did, even though it was an after-hours person who answered. I was running very low on oil, so I would have pushed back if I were told next week. I ran out late on Saturday, and was charged a $250 fee for emergency delivery and re-lighting the boiler. Stay away! They refuse to take responsibility for their mistakes! read more

The service of this company was fine when delivering oil or propane. Just do not attempt to call the office staff and get a hold of incompetent Diane. She believes that a few bucks is more important that a customer and even so much to spend multiple minutes arguing, cutting me off, calling me a liar in not so many words, putting me on an intentional hold, etc. I am glad she is not my wife or neighbor and unless her husband is the owner, I think the owner should fire her. Got oil as promised. The truck left us a slip. The slip was yellow. Yelp is making me write a longer review than I wanted to.

Well, when I bought my home, I called around and 'interviewed' a couple of home heating oil delivery companies and wasn't impressed. Then, I did a web search for the lowest prices, which lead to a few more calls- still- not impressed. But, then I asked some friends, neighbors, etc. and they all recommended Buxton Oil. So, I sent an e-mail, and, called for current pricing- which was within a penny or two of the lowest price.to boot. When I called, they referred me to a heating system professional- best people as well, but, I promised not to tell anyone, because they already have too many customers! Anyways, I finally stopped checking prices, as I have found- invariably- that they are either the lowest, or, within a penny of the cheapest price within 30 miles of the house. Finally, they deliver extremely quickly. For example, I requested a delivery this morning at say, 7:30AM. When I was leaving my house at 9am, the truck was coming down my street to deliver! I stopped to ask if he was going to... and, he responded "How's THAT for service?" It's very impressive, and, it has been very consistent over the last 2 years. So, not only are they very responsive to my home heating oil needs, they maintain a good sense of humor, in an otherwise dull business. I have had nothing but fun dealing with all of the people- every call, every e-mail- all communication has always resulte in a good laugh. So, if you want great service, a friendly voice, quick delivery AND the lowest prices, sign up with Buxton Oil- they really are that good! Cheap, fast & friendly- that's what I want, and, I get the satisfaction of using yet another local (to me) company! The best of all worlds. read more

I have been a customer of Buxton's for several years. With all the confusion and things to do over the long Christmas weekend, I forgot to check my oil tank and I ran out of oil. My bad. I called Buxton first thing Tuesday morning, as they only deliver to my town on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I explained my story and requested a delivery...luckily on the day that they are in my town. I was told that they could make the delivery, however there would be an additional charge of $125.00!!!! I urge anyone considering an oil company to strongly take this into consideration. Nothing like kicking a customer to the ground when there's an opportunity to make a few extra bucks. Merry Christmas Buxton. I will never do business with you again. read more

For the second time this heating season and several times last heating season I screwed up and failed to call until late Monday / early Tuesday for a Tuesday delivery in Chester, NH. On several occasions my late call has prompted a Thursday delivery schedule but when I explained I was nearly out of oil, the reply has always been "we' will find a way to get it done on Tuesday"...and there has never been any mention of an additional fee. They always ask for my name and delivery address AFTER the commitment to get me a Tuesday delivery so they really had no idea if I was new customer or a +5 year customer. Yes, there is an individual on the staff that seems quite rude and non-caring. You need only ask for another service rep when you encounter that individual. Bottom line: Great company dedicated to great customer service. read more

Recently switched my oil and propane supplier from the exorbitantly priced Eastern to Buxton. Ron provided excellent customer service with both tank installation and propane delivery. He was professional, courteous, respectful of our property and took time to answer all my questions. Buxton is lucky to have him as an employee. The office folks were nice and helpful too. read more

I almost never review anything but I had such a terrible experience with this company that I feel compelled to say something about their poor customer service and less than honest business practices. I called and ordered a specific amount of oil to be delivered to my home. I was quoted a price and gave my credit card information to prepay. I called back about 15 minutes later to see if I could change my order to a lesser amount of oil. I spoke to the owner who said they had already run my card and placed the order and there was nothing that could be done. I agreed to the original order as I felt like it was my fault for not getting it right the in first place. The oil was to be delivered the next day. When I checked my bank statement though I noticed I was charged much more than expected. I checked my slip and found that they had had pumped oil I had not ordered. I called to ask what could be done. I spoke to the owner of the company, explained the issue and that the additional charge (almost $200) was a problem since I'm kind'a on a budget. She said they had already charged me and there was nothing that could be done. She then said I should have told her how many gallons I wanted when I had called earlier in the week. Since the card was allegedly already charged and I wasn't altering the original order I don't see how that would have been relevant information at the time of the call. No change should have been made. At no point was a higher number of gallons of oil mentioned by me or either of the people I spoke to at your company. In Buxton Oil's defense the woman made the analogy that if I was at the gas station and meant to pump $5 of gas and accidentally pumped $10 I wouldn't expect the gas station to pay for it. I pointed out that if I had accidentally pumped the extra gallons of oil into my tank I would have no problem paying for it as it would have been my mistake but since I had asked for a specific amount and had not consented to delivery of any additional oil and was not responsible for the error I expected your company to take action to correct the mistake. I presented options that I would find agreeable as a resolution, crediting my account, refunding my card and taking back the additional oil. I was told all of those things were impossible and not presented with any addition options for resolution. Again she repeated that they had already pumped the oil, to take it back she'd have to hire "two guys" and that they had already charged me for the full amount, the charge that could not be reversed and it was my fault for not telling her when I called to have the amount I had originally agreed to reduce. I asked what would have happened if I had found the error during that conversation and she said she would have cancelled the order and rerun the card. I was told on in my original call that was impossible and being repeatedly told this was impossible now. I pointed this out at which point she said you can't just "give away oil", there was nothing she could do and hung up on me mid sentence. I must have sounded frustrated but I never raised my voice or used any foul language that would have warranted being rudely disconnected. I was polite throughout this very discouraging situation and considering I was lied to, didn't consent to the delivery and was treated so poorly, I wasn't asking for anything extraordinary to be done. I found all this to be unacceptable. If you need heating oil, I suggest you call someone else. read more

12:00 Jan 1st no oil. On automatic delivery mind you! 8 hrs later no reply. 12 more hrs, no reply. 24 hrs later still no reply! Had to turn off water, drain lines and anti freeze all the drains. It's ok to be overwhelmed that's understandable, but the lack of communication is not! update: apparent snafu about the automatic delivery. 30 hrs later oil was delivered. I have been using Buxton Oil since I moved to New Hampshire. I believe for about 12 years. I ran out of oil the other night and went to the gas station to put just enough fuel in to get me through the night. In the morning I called them for a delivery. They are in my area on Mondays, the day I called them. They wanted to charge me an additional $60 dollars to come today when they are already here. I am so tired of being loyal to companies that have become to big for their own good. Rather than taking a little effort to please a long term customer, they want to charge me extra. As a company owner I go above and beyond for my own customers service and satisfaction. Today is the last day I will ever call Buxton Oil. I called Gary, the owner of Allied Fuels in Northwood NH at my daughters recommendation. He does not require a minimum delivery to lower the prices and said he will make sure he gets to my house sometime today. I would have expected that from the company I have used for 12 years. Shame on Buxton. Ill make sure I send no one their way and will let everyone know about how excellent Allied is. If I could give lower than one star I would. read more

I absolutely love Buxton oil. I have ordered on Facebook with the owner. She's a lifesaver. She brought us out oil when we ran out first thing in the morning. She always gets right back to me. She's the nicest lady and whenever I have ordered via the phone, I have been treated very well by the employees. I've never had a bad experience. The drivers are super nice too. I don't see them much but the few times I did , they were really nice. I've had them since I bought my house a long time ago and I will always use them and no one else.
