This has been the worst storage unit experience ever!!!
I came home to my house flooded with water on January 1st. I had to move immediately and needed to put my belongings in a storage unit. I contacted Bux Bear, who had a 50% off for 2 month special. They quoted me prices and told me if I had auto pay each month that I would save $20.00 EACH MONTH. They also told me and there was a sign that said if I left a Google review I would also receive a $20.00 credit. I submitted all the paperwork, insurance declaration and was assigned a storage unit. I gave movers access to my unit. When they got to my unit approx 6:30pm on January 6th, my unit had two locks on it. The office was closed and nobody would answer the phone. They had a trailer full of my belongings and my home was flooded so they could not take the items back to my house so they found the closest open unit and put my stuff in there. The next day I went into the office to complain and fix this problem. They assigned me a new unit and told me there were someone else's belongings in the unit that was originally assigned to me.
I went back to my unit on February 8th to discover a second lock on it, again. I was not late with my payment. I was told they were under new management and saw that my unit was never changed in the system and should have been empty so they locked me out of my unit.
I was in the office for hours fixing this. It was ridiculous. My house had just flooded and the previous employees had offered to keep my plants in the office and water them for me.On February 8th I was told I needed to remove them asap. Once again I left thinking everything was fixed.
I went back February 9th and my code did not work to get in. I had to go back to the office to get this fixed, again.
On March 12 I went back to my unit. When I went to leave my code would not work!!!! My children and I were locked inside and we couldn't leave. I tried to call all the phone numbers posted and online, nobody answered. I had to wait until someone was leaving so I could follow behind them.
I have been so stressed with my home flooding and having to move 4 hours away, this situation has made me furious. I've had nothing but problem after problem. They did nothing but apologize for the constant misunderstandings and mistakes.
Because of this horrible situation, I refused to pay because everything I was originally promised was not done. I ended up getting months behind and could not get caught up. They don't accept partial payments and would not work with me. They have charged me almost $200 in insane fees and charges and refuse to credit anything.
I finally paid my balance current on June 23rd and went to my unit. I found my lock cut off and did not receive notice of this until days later, and an insane $50 charge.
It is now July 11th and I tried to go to my unit and I find an orange lock on my unit, again!!!!!!! I received an email last night that said I'm 5 days late and going to be charged another late fee but if my unit is due on the 8th, and today is the 12th, that would be 4 days late. But I'm locked out of my unit already???? And of course nobody was there or answered the phones last night.
I'm told none of the fees on my account can be waived, they refused to make payment arrangements with me, they refused to take partial payments, they would not honor the autopay discount, they would not honor the review credit, I've been repeatedly locked out of my unit and have had more issues that I can handle! And they've now charged me over $200 in fees.
Do not rent from BuxBear! This has added more stress to my life and it has been the worst decision I have made. read more
