Didn't clean the inside of the fridge. They "wipe" surfaces but don't scrub. This includes floors. They plugged my sink so I had to call a plumber. Threw away my personal cleaning supplies. Threw away personal items. Told me, a permanently disabled invalid, that she could return to do more cleaning and that would cure me. All these 5 star reviews must be fake. Total no show cost me $475 I booked a scheduled "move out clean" on December 12th for December 30th after they assured me they had staff available and working that day. I was told I had to pay $300+ cash upfront which I agreed to. They were scheduled to arrive at 3 PM so I arrived at 2 PM and sat in the floor of my empty apartment waiting for them. For 4 hours! Noone was answering the phone or returning my voicemail. I was unable to clean the place by myself which is why I hired them in the first place. I was also unable to hire an alternate on such short notice (on New Years Eve.) I had to leave the place dirty and lost my damage deposit of $475. Boy do I regret calling them! %&#$@! [Follow up edit] 3 months later now and I wanted to let people know that to this day I never heard a peep from them. No phone call, email, apology, or explanation. We hired them for a move out clean. Two people showed up: Rosa (the older woman in the photo on the website) and a man. They told us they would call 30min before they were done so that I could meet them and pay them. Ummm... they called the wrong number and so couldn't get a hold of me. When I finally contacted them, the woman screamed me on the phone - saying that they lost another job because I didn't answer my phone and that the police were coming to the condo. When I arrived at the condo (with my husband in tow because I was feeling afraid), she continued with the hysterics until we asked her to show us her phone and which number she called.... at which time she looked at her phone and then refused to show us. After we gave her $300 cash, for the 2hours they cleaned and the two they claimed to have wasted,(she asked for $285, but we didn't have change), she apologised and left. Now that she is gone, and I am feeling calmer, I can see that they didn't actually move the loveseat or chair to clean underneath and they also missed most of the baseboards. When I first met them, they seemed so friendly and I really can't believe how stressful the day has been for us. We hired them on the advice of a friend, but we never will again. I just want to add that as I was tidying up after the cleaners, I kept smelling cigarettes... I don't know which of the two of them smokes, but that person left ashes on the balcony and 2 cigarette butts in the garbage under the sink. read more

This company left because they couldn't find parking while we were waiting at the front door for a move out clean. we are not their valet. when I called they were "on their way to their next job" how did they have another job booked when they were booked on mine. when I finally got through, the owner was condescending and patronizing and hung up on me. I have never left a bad review but these people were so horrible that I had to. I spoke to Erika on the phone and arranged for two cleaners to come to my place and clean. Two ladies came and I took them to my underground parking and let them park for free. From the get go, the older lady (Erika's mom) was rude and wasn't there to work. They took my dishes out of the dishwasher, cleaned the bathrooms and charged me $170. That's all they did I am not over exaggerating! When I asked if they vacuumed they lied to me and said yes but it was my vacuum that didn't work. I have a top of the line Miele vacuum! They barely vacuumed and mopped. She again lied to me about mopping, they just spot mopped. I asked them to vacuum under my bed she lied and said she did. After she left I had a look and it was full of dust. They were there for a little over an hour. All they wanted to do was get out of there. I asked how much I owed her she said $175 including tax. I said how much was it without tax she said $150. $150 plus 14% tax is 171$. She lied to me again! On top of that she refused to give me a receipt. She asked for cash, she charged me tax and didn't give me a receipt. They were horrible!! Absolutely horrible! Do not, DO NOT hire these people. They don't care, they just want to rip you off and get out. They don't even deserve that one star! These people should have their business license taken away. read more

Sent an e-mail to Erika on Friday to review the scope of work for a large 11 unit scope of work project. She was the only one when I called before giving her e-mail address to send the quote who asked me appropriate follow up questions as well as volunteered some company highlights. Obviously someone who is confident and knows how to brand herself and the company. I appreciate these type of people, therefore, right off the bat she won points with me. Speaking with her was a far cry from the other lady that I spoke with from a different company who was a bit brash on the phone. I received a very detailed e-mail for more detail. They followed up by asking the right questions which is appreciated as communication is very very important. Erika had some legitamite concerns which hopefully myself and my colleague addressed. The problem was that how the questions were addressed and how they came across. I understand that this company may have had trust issues with payment and working with clients and they're just looking out for their best interest which is appreciated, however, it was the way that this was conveyed and delivered that struck a nerve with us, especially since we want to work with the right people. read more

This is the worst experience I've ever had with any business. We hired them to do our move out cleaning, as we didn't have time ourselves. We were moving to the states in a week so really relied on this to go well. They first told me they would be at my apartment between 12-2. The day before I told them I would not be there but the key and money was with our concierge(big mistake) On the day of I wake up to multiple calls from them at 8:30 in the morning. They didn't know our apt number so I called the concierge and dealt with that. They were so rude about it, saying they had already lost so much time, well I wasn't expecting them to show up over 3hrs early, so I don't think they needed to be rude. Then they needed parking, so I told them my spot number hoping that was the end of that. They called me half way down the parking garage saying they didn't see it, well the numbers do go up so eventually it will be there. I didn't hear from them until 4hrs later saying they were done and the place looks great, but they lost 2hrs trying to park and I didn't tell them they would have to walk to an elevator. I should have told them since they came to help me. Since when is paying someone $350 for a service, helping me. I show up on the day of my move out inspection and you could barely tell they had been there. You couldn't tell they shampooed our carpets at all,there was dust all along the baseboards, the bathroom was awful. They cleaned the fridge but not the freezers, there was dust and lint in the laundry room. It was unreal. Took us 4hrs to re clean it all. On top of this they never gave us a receipt which we asked for. Never answers our messages or calls. Never ever hire these people. Rude and don't know what they are doing. read more

I highly recommend Erika, the young lady who manages this family cleaning business. They were available with short notice, as I called Friday afternoon and they opened up a spot early Saturday morning for me. They offered a fixed price for my Studio + Solarium, and I couldn't have been more thrilled with their service. Erika and her team showed up early, cleaned for four hours, and my place looked brand new after. Her company supplies a personal guarantee and reminds her customers that it is an important part of her business. Paid cash at the end of job. On the Monday, I was meeting with my landlord at the apartment to go over the lease agreement and finalize my moving out, my landlord spotted some areas that had been missed (in her experienced eyes). And she was right, the wooden shutter blinds were dusty, some of the corners and window wills seem to have been missed. My landlord was very worked up about it, and was adamant that most cleaning services will purposely skip areas to save time and just "clean the surface". I was a bit shocked to hear all of this, because Erika seemed like a very honest and nice lady, along with her mother and another cleaner that helped. I had no reason to suspect that this was on purpose. At this point, I remembered Erika's guarantee card she had left behind so I contacted her to notify her about the comments of my landlord; She responded within a half hour, thanked me for notifying her and that she will happily arrange to come the next day to touch-up any missed spots!! I was absolutely amazed at how open and honest she was to fulfill her guarantee. Erika coordinated a time with my landlord and came in the next day. I should let it be known that I have a bi weekly cleaner that comes regularly so, my home is not unkept, or unusually dirty by any means. We needed to have the place cleaned without much notice and our regular cleaner wasn't available so we hired Butterfly cleaning services. Set fee was $185 plus tax cash or cheque. Out of everything I listed further down, HERE IS WHAT WAS NOT COMPLETE: The underside of one of the toilets was clearly NOT cleaned -the two small couches were NOT Vacuumed, swiftered or swept in any way underneath -some baseboards/window sills were NOT wiped (all of which were easily accessible) -The shower floor and toilet basin had (their) hair strands in it, along with the shower floor having bits of dust specs. Also, very lightly cleaned, soap residue still left. -the floor had very visible marks that were so easy for me to clean it was surprising they didn't attempt it. - some easy to clean marks on the counters were not wiped. When they had arrived I was very specific and requested that they focus on the: kitchen /bathroom,wipe baseboards ledges and window sills, floors , and "if" they had time to do some light housework additional dusting and some light housework things like making the beds up (even though sheet were cleaned and on and just needed to be fluffed. All of this is not even including things like the closets not being vacuumed,cupboard under the sink not being cleaned, garbages not emptied, which to be honest wouldn't bother me IF they had completed the other things. They called after 1hour and 45 minuted to say they were done early, and since I couldn't make it back much earlier than 15 minutes, I requested that they do a few more things while they waited for me. (I was paying a flat fee so it made sense) I will say that they came back later that day when I called to express my concerns, but Rosa was clearly irritated and ended up saying, "that's enough, we have done enough", and left quite rudely. All in all, for the price the quality was very disappointing and we have yet to hear back from Erika regarding our experience. read more

We hired these people to clean a 640 sq ft apartment in the west end after we moved out after selling our home. Part of the sale negotiations were to have the place "professionally" cleaned. When I spoke to Erika at Butterfly she claimed they were different from all other cleaning services because they actually moved and cleaned behind the refrigerator. Our realtor dropped by as they were cleaning and was not impressed with the service, to the point she made them aware of things the cleaners had missed. The crew leader got a little upset with being told that some things needed to be cleaned again and seemed to be more interested in getting out of the place and onto the next job. After the cleaners left the realtor came back in and called to say the cleaners had still not cleaned behind the refrigerator and did a poor job inside the refrigerator itself. She took some photos and sent them to us and then proceeded to clean up some of the areas herself. She called us and sent the photos and when we saw the area around the fridge we decided to go back and clean it ourselves. No way were we going to let the new owner have to deal with the mess behind the fridge. We pulled the refrigerator out from the wall easily and cleaned the back and the floor area. Someone from Butterfly called us to say that they could not move the fridge because it was to heavy and awkward. IT WAS ON ROLLERS and my 130 lb wife pulled it out. I only helped her to make sure the water line did not get damaged. When I talked to the crew leader she was more interested in defending her work than making the situation right. Obviously these people do not know how to deal with customers who simply want the service they paid for. They offered to go back, but what was the point, we had already cleaned up the mess they did not clean properly. Erika contacted me saying she wanted to make things right and when I asked for a partial refund to compensate us for driving from South Surrey back to the West End to clean up what they missed, my query to this day has been unanswered. On cleaning day, four women arrived promptly and immediately got down to work. They were very friendly and most importantly did an incredible job cleaning...they pulled all the shelves and drawers out of the fridge to clean, and even got stains out of carpets that had been there for 3 years! I have never written a poor review for a company/organization but after the experience I had with Butterfly Cleaning I feel obligated to warn future customers. I was very pleased with the initial contact with one of Butterfly Cleaning owners, Erika, and felt very comfortable with the stated service I would receive. Erika was specific in asking that I provide a detailed list of all things I would like done as she was committed to meeting her client's needs and didn't want anything to be missed. The service agreed upon was an initial deep clean for a set price (not an hourly rate), which would provide not only a baseline deep clean, but the opportunity for the Butterfly Cleaning to understand the needs of the client. I was quoted $195-200 for the initial deep clean. For a basic clean of a 1200 sq ft suite, with one bathroom, this price seemed high but for a deep clean it seemed reasonable. When Butterfly cleaning employees (Erika and her Mom) arrived, I provided, as requested, my detailed list of all areas I would like clean. I then left the suite while they provided the cleaning service. I was contacted 1.5 hours after they arrived to say they were close to being finished. Upon arriving home, I did a quick scan of the suite and things did appear tidy. I asked about specific areas that were to be included in the deep clean and was assured that they were done. I trusted in their professional experience, and their word, that all areas had been done and that their confirmation of "clean" met reasonable expectation i.e. dirt and grime no longer present. I then paid $200 for the 2-hour cleaning session. Once I had time to look more closely, many areas appeared as though they had not been touched (eg. baseboards, bathroom mirror, cobwebs on light fixtures etc.). I contacted Erika immediately, on the same day, to explain what I had found and also sent a picture of the dirt I had wiped off the baseboards to support my claims. Her response was that I should have had a closer look before they had left. After back and forth emails and texts, and my request for the job to be completed, Erika refused to offer any compensation for not delivering on her promise of a deep cleaning service. Should anyone consider using the services of Butterfly Cleaning in the future I would highly recommend not paying for the service until a detailed look at each and every area requested clean has been completed. From this experience, the standard of clean of Butterfly Cleaning is below reasonable expectation and you will not be compensated for unfinished work. You will be told that their best is not good enough for you. read more

I used the move out service. I got a call at 9am from them telling me in frustration how they couldn't find parking and had lost half an hour. I thought they knew the area since they had left thier flyers on the door. I actually apologized for their unprofessionalism. When I went to see my apartment before the move out inspection I found my oven door off its hinges and I had to slam it back into place. The cleaning job was second rate too. Still dirt on the floor. I recently purchased a condo in Burnaby and I used Butterfly Cleaning for their move in service. With absolutely no hesitation, I can safely say that I will NEVER use them again nor will they be recommended to friends/family. I had been dealing with Erika over the phone and she was pleasant and informative. I gave her a quick run down of the condition of my condo (5 years old, brand new laminate flooring, newly painted walls and no furniture other than a couch that had just been delivered). Erika quoted me between $250-$275. I had done quite a bit of research, visited their website and was happy with our correspondence over the phone so decided I would move forward and confirm. The cleaning was scheduled for 8:30am but Erika and her mom, Rosa didn't show up until just after 9am. Erika took a quick walk around the apartment and told me it would take 4 hours and it would come up to $300 total because the light fixtures were quite greasy and that would be extra. I thought, okay, that's fairly pricey considering the apartment is in good condition and there's no carpet, drapes or furniture but as long as the apartment was spotless at the end then I was happy. I get a text at 1pm saying they're just finishing up so I can come over with the payment. I walk into my apartment and I'm shocked!! The apartment was still visibly incredibly dirty!! The floors and kitchen tiles had clearly only been spot cleaned, counters weren't wiped down, the exterior of a few of the kitchen cabinets were dirty, dust along the baseboard wasn't touched and the window sills weren't wiped down. The biggest shocker was that the grease on the lighting fixtures was never addressed and that was the main reason they charged me $300 in the first place! As I was walking around the apartment, noticing everything that was missed, Erika became incredibly defensive and said she was an hour behind and late for her next appointment so she needed to leave. Clearly, they were in a rush because they showed up late but my sympathy was lacking because rather than simply acknowledging that she had missed many obvious areas of the apartment, she proceeded to tell me that I was being too particular and the apartment wasn't brand new so there was going to be areas that were still dirty. I ended up grabbing a white cloth myself (that turned dark grey very quickly!) and going over these areas to prove to her that a spot clean for $300 was ridiculous and I could have done this myself. Grudgingly, they stayed for an extra 20 minutes and rushed through the areas that I mentioned. The grease remained on the lighting fixtures - I'm not sure how she thought windex and a cloth would get it off in the first place. I could have tried that! Anyhow, at this point I was incredibly upset and I was getting late for work so I paid the ladies and they left. Needless to say, it was an incredibly disappointing experience. Moving into a clean, new home should be an exciting time but unfortunately, I had to spend the entire evening going over everything that was missed. $300 later. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! They were hired to do a move out clean of a 600 sq ft apartment - a completely empty unit for $165. We explained what our expectations were and that the apartment was cleaned by our tenants but we wanted a better job done before new tenants moved in. ALL we could see they actually did was the inside of the oven (probably on self clean) and wipe down a glass front fire place, NOTHING else was touched, I am not exaggerating! Nothing. The toilet was still disgustingly dirty inside the bowl; all of the stainless steel faucet fixtures still needed to be wiped down/cleaned in the kitchen, bathroom and shower; the kitchen sink still had rust in the drain; the outside of microwave door was still dirty; there were crumbs and dirt still all over the floor throughout the unit; the California shutter blinds still needed a wipe down; the overhead ceiling fan still had a 1/4" of dust on the top of each arm; there was still a cobweb in the top corner of the ceiling of the bedroom by the window. The place just needed a good once over. It wasn't that bad to begin with, and I wasn't asking for a deep, 8 hour clean - but I did expect visible things like faucets and surfaces would all at least be wiped down, sterilized with Lysol wipes or something like that, and cleaned. When we saw the job they did and phoned to complain they apologized and insisted on coming back the next day to do a better job. When they met me to pick up the keys I asked who did the job and what they actually did for the $165 and they said "I did what was expected for such little money" and went on to say "perhaps my cleaners eyes are not as good as your eyes". They insisted on coming back that second time to "correct their mistake". The daughter, Erika, who owns the company with her Mother, Rosa (who told me she was actually the one who cleaned our apartment) claims she was "oblivious" as to the condition the unit was left after their "professional, quality" clean - even though it was her Mother who was the one to do the job, who cleans everyday. They did show up to pick up the keys to go back and do a second clean but really after leaving it in the condition it was left why trust them to do the job they were paid to do, IN ADVANCE, the first time, a second time!? I took my keys back and said forget it, just give me my money back, I will do it myself. Really, a second trip would not have been necessary if they had just done what they agreed to do, to satisfaction the first time. They originally agreed to give us a full refund after they saw our pictures of the condition it was left after their initial clean, then later argued their pictures the Mother took "paint a different story" - their pictures are of the fridge (which did not require a clean) and of the toilet, with the the seat DOWN - the inside of the toilet was still disgusting and dirty inside! I have left a complaint with the BBB as well as on their facebook page - they refuse to give any sort of refund at this point and are now "handing it over to their accountant and lawyer to handle" - sure, but why is beyond me! It's plain and simple - the job we paid for and expected to be done was simply not done. There's nothing to argue about. Either it was cleaned or it wasn't! And it was not. The fact is the apartment was not cleaned, they ripped us off, we called them out on it, they begged to come back a second time, we said yes then later refused and requested our money back and now we are out $165 and have to clean it ourselves. Unfortunately I was not overly impressed with the post-reno clean-up job the your team of three ladies did. I was under the impression they'd be arriving around 1pm they called at 1pm and said they'd be there in 1.5 hours. They arrived at 2:30pm. The cleaners agreed with the higher end of your initial quote ($250) before the job began and I ended up giving them $280 when the job was done. Big mistake! Most of the points I mention below were not noticed until after they had already left for the evening. When I received the phone call to come up and inspect the house one of the the kitchen cupboards were still marked heavily with drywall dust and although the floors were mopped they still appeared mucked up and streaky. My biggest problem was the pristine brand new stainless steel sink. There are visible deep scratches on the bottom of it. This is an expensive sink that my husband paid good money for and takes great pride in. For this reason, before the job started, I mentioned to please be cautious of not scratching the stainless sink and stainless appliances (You spend a lot of money on a new kitchen and you really put your faith in someone else cleaning it for your for the first time). The sink scratches were of course denied by your team and I realize without pictures my hands are tied and this is something that can not be proven. They assured me they used a soft cloth and liquid soap and didn't put any rough buckets in the sink. However when I walked into the kitchen when called for inspection the mop bucket was in the sink and when the job began one of your ladies immediately put Comet as well as a liquid soap into the sink (this alarmed me and this is when I mentioned to be cautious). As it turns out later that evening I was up there wiping inside and outside of cupboards that I thought were already done by your team. Still lots of post-renovation dust found on the outside ledge corners of the shaker style kitchen cupboards. The tops of the door frames were obviously not cleaned as I ran a damp cloth along them and the cloth came up white with lots of drywall dust. The master bedroom carpet did not appear to be vacuumed - and if it was, the vacuum is not powerful enough to pick up small bits in the carpet. I'm not sure if there was a misunderstanding about the en suite bathroom (bathroom is only half finished - no bathtub, just a sink and toilet) but my husband noticed the toilet still had a bit of a red ring around it as well. They sticker was not pulled off that window so I suspect it wasn't touched. One of the ladies left her rubber gloves on my living room cabinet with a bunch of plastic that had been peeled off the front door windows. The peel job was horrible, still lots of plastic left around the edges. If there were troubles removing it, it should have at least been mentioned to me. My husband found balled up window stickers thrown down the stairs as well. Overall, it seemed like a rush job. It was done by three people in less than three hours (finishing before 5:30pm). Definitely not a post-reno/move-out cleaning job. And one more thing, you should probably let your team know they should close and lock all windows when leaving, just as they were found beforehand. We do a lot in the renovation and rental unit field. It would have been useful (and beneficial for all) to have a company (such as Butterfly Cleaning) to recommend to our other friends in the field. It would have been nice to find a company that we could use for ourselves when showing our rental suite. This will not be the case with your company. read more

I used Butterfly Cleaning for my move out clean and they were great. They brought all of their own supplies so I didn't have to worry about what was packed or moved already and when they were done the place was spotless. They cleaned spots I never do, including moving the stove and finding utensils I didn't even know were missing. I will definitely use them for regularly cleaning going forward. read more

While I didn't have the services, the setup for the work didn't seem professional. A scheduled appointment was pushed back 30 minutes two minutes before scheduled and Erika required the money be put upfront before the services. I was skeptical to give my $140 without seeing the finished product, so between that and the delay I decided to cancel the services. All cleaning services are payment post-service so I would be reluctant to choose their services. read more

Butterfly Cleaning has an amazing team. They did a fantastic and thorough job of doing 2 move out cleans for us. Every inch was cleaned. They made sure I was happy and cleaned according to the tenancy move out check list. Very friendly and really care about their work. DO NOT USE BUTTERFLY CLEANING! They promise a thorough cleaning, that they are the most professional cleaners, that they will come for 3 hours for a one-bedroom apartment with two people. Firstly they were late, and they did not call me to let me know; i had to to call them to ask where they were; they showed up two hours late. And then they were in a big rush as they had another job they were late for after mine. So they stayed only 75 minutes (with 3 people), instead of at least 2-3 hours. In Summary: they did not do a thorough cleaning at all, leaving many surfaces undusted or uncleaned. They did not wash the floors under the couches in the living room and under the bed in the living-room, as they had promised. They complained that the kitchen was very dirty and required "heavy-duty" cleaning, not usually included. Anyhow, definitely not worth the $185 I paid. RIP-OFF, and dishonest service. read more
