VENUE Pros: + Floor to ceiling windows in the Ventana Ballroom + Beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge + Second level with internal balcony for a nice view of the entire ballroom + stage + Additional halls on either side that can be used for whatever you want (we used one for cocktail hour and the other to serve buffet-style dinner) + Modern bridal suite that could be used to get away for a bit Cons: - The Prince Room, where grooms + groomsmen could get ready, doesn't have much privacy because of the large, outward facing windows - Wood dance floor is a bit roughed up and could use some refinishing - 10% Presidio Administration Vendor Fee for onsite external vendors (if you book their preferred/partnered vendors, this fee doesn't apply) Okay, now that we have that out of the way, let's go back to the overall Wedgewood Weddings package and team at the Golden Gate Club. Simply put, they're amazing at what they do. Jordan was our wedding coordinator and she listened to our initial vision, helped brainstorm with us, provided all the details we needed to help make food/decor/cake/decor choices, ebbed and flowed with us as we coordinated external vendors and some DIY decor, kept in close communication with us every step of the way, and when our wedding day finally arrived, she made sure that every small little detail was taken care of. She provided ample signage (e.g. bar, gifts, etc.), anticipated windy/rainy weather, had contingency plans in place, and communicated with the officiant, banquet captain, DJ, and others to make sure everything ran smoothly. We are so thankful for her because she lifted so much of the wedding planning stress off of our shoulders. Gigi and Kiley worked in tandem with Jordan throughout the night to coordinate logistics and food service. Jordan worked with Steve (our officiant with Officially Yours!!), DJ Big Kev (our DJ with iMobileDJs), and all our external vendors so effortlessly. Everyone was amazing and played a big part in making our wedding day so special and I would recommend working with any of these amazing human beings to anyone!

Needless to say, it's beautiful, and well managed. The food was really good, they had two bar stations, and allowed outside vendors to assist which was very cool. It has a beautiful view of Golden Gate and the food actually was decent. Resident DJ seemed to know how to run things and keep the reception going and that's always great to see. Don't expect to see more weddings at my age here, but it definitely is a beautiful place and worth the pictures if you are a photography junkie.

We wanted someone who we felt really understood who we are as individuals and together. Well, our original wedding date was scheduled for early May 2020, so that didn't happen. When we were finally able to reschedule, it was still before people were freely traveling internationally, so our friend was out of the picture and we had no second choice. Defeated, we looked through the recommendations from our wedding planner and only one piqued my interest -- Elizabeth River. I was convinced that she was the best choice just from going through her website, but I was still reluctant that someone we didn't even know could get to know enough about us in just a couple months to be able to create a ceremony that felt personal and reflected who we are. Proceeding the wedding, our Zoom prep meetings with Elizabeth were so much fun! She was effortless to talk to and made us feel so at ease. It was like we were talking to someone we had known a long time. At this point, I absolutely knew that Elizabeth was the right choice, but given every wedding ceremony I've ever sat through, I wasn't expecting anything too original. Well I was dead wrong. The first draft of the ceremony that Elizabeth sent us was so beautiful and captured everything we could've hoped for and more! After the ceremony on our wedding day, several guests asked us who Elizabeth was to us and how long we had known her. Most people assumed she must have been a longtime family friend because of how perfectly the ceremony represented us. It was personal, funny, deeply meaningful, and perfectly tailored to us and what we wanted to express to each other and to our guests. Before we met Elizabeth we didn't put too much importance on the ceremony, but it ended up being just as magical as the rest of our day. Even now, I'm still in disbelief over how special our ceremony was. After our wedding, I wanted to print out our vows to frame but hadn't gotten around to it. On our one year anniversary, Elizabeth sent us a beautiful keepsake copy that we will use to frame! I am so proud of our vows -- they are word for word what my husband and I would like to remind each other of through the good and bad. We are forever grateful to Elizabeth for creating a ceremony for us that surpassed anything we ever thought possible. It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway -- I love my friend, but I am eternally thankful that we had the honor of Elizabeth creating and officiating our wedding ceremony for us. My wife and I were married in Bodega Bay on May 18th, 2024 and Elizabeth was such a huge reason why our wedding was so special. She got to know my wife and I and was patient with us while we reflected on our relationship. She provided us with insight and examples of ceremony ideas, which really helped us figure out what was important to us. Elizabeth created a story that truly captured my wife and I, and we could not be more grateful for her! She even made copies of our ceremony for us and our moms. During our ceremony, we had a brother read song lyrics, Elizabeth read a poem, and together my wife and I planted a tree using soil from our childhood homes, and Elizabeth made sure everything ran smoothly. We still have people tell us that our ceremony was special, and we have Elizabeth to thank for that. She is wonderful and we highly recommend!

The grounds were absolutely stunning and the flowers were in full bloom, and the combination of the lush outdoor ceremony space and the elegant indoor cocktail area made everything feel magical and perfectly balanced. One of our favorite touches was the grand piano, which a Paella Time (catering vendor) played during our first look, it was such a unique and emotional moment. The venue itself is a gorgeous, historic Victorian house with incredible charm. We took some of our favorite photos in front of the stained glass windows, which added so much character and warmth. My wife especially loved the bridal suite, where she shared sweet first-look moments and photos with her mom and bridesmaids. It felt intimate, relaxed, and timeless. As San Rafael locals, we were so impressed by how affordable the venue was for everything it offered. Working with Patty and the entire Falkirk team was effortless--they were kind, flexible, and truly accommodating every step of the way. We feel so lucky they had our date available. The grounds are lush, green, and beautifully maintained, with so many picturesque areas for photos. There are so many beautiful backdrops throughout the property, which gave us plenty of options for photos. We especially loved the ceremony area. It feels secluded and intimate, which created such a beautiful setting for our ceremony and made the moment feel incredibly special. The ballroom is spacious and worked wonderfully for our large wedding. We had plenty of room for our guests, dining, dancing, and reception activities without the space feeling cramped. The food was great and we had no complaints. We had the cod with grape tomato vinaigrette, roast beef, and chicken Marsala, and our guests enjoyed the meal. We also brought in some additional food from outside vendors to supplement the appetizers, which worked really well for us and gave our guests even more variety. One thing to keep in mind is that there is only one bar, so the line can get a little long during busy periods, especially with a larger wedding. An additional bar option for larger weddings would definitely be a nice addition. But the biggest highlight of our experience was our day-of coordinator, Jacoby. She was absolutely AMAZING! We loved working with her and genuinely could not have asked for a better coordinator. I had a very specific vision for our wedding and did a lot of DIY decor, and Jacoby was incredible. She set up all of our DIY decor and executed my vision flawlessly. I was able to hand everything over to her on the wedding day and completely trust that she would bring everything together exactly how I envisioned it. And she did! Seeing everything set up and beautifully executed was such an amazing feeling. Beyond the decor, Jacoby was attentive, organized, responsive, and incredibly calm throughout the entire day. She handled so many details behind the scenes and was always one step ahead. She made sure everything was where it needed to be, kept the day moving smoothly, and took care of issues before they ever became something we had to worry about. She genuinely cared about our wedding and making sure we had the day we envisioned. Having Jacoby there allowed us to actually enjoy our wedding instead of worrying about logistics. We are so grateful for all of her hard work, attention to detail, and the care she put into making our day so special. She truly went above and beyond, and she was a huge part of why our wedding day was so seamless. Once Jacoby left for the evening, Jovani took over as our captain for the night, and he was fantastic as well. Planning a wedding is a lot of work and both my hubby aren't super type A so we wanted a team that could handle most of the work for us. We found this venue 7 months before we got married and there were barely any Friday and Saturdays left, showing how popular this venue is. We selected the Wedgewood premier package and were happy with most of the vendors. One thing I'd like to point out is there are couple things that are not included in the all inclusive price that we thought were inclusive which is not a big deal but it's nice to know up front to better plan / budget. The items that were not included were most flower items, photographer. We also had to make our own guest book, welcome sign, bar sign. My hubby and I found these homework assignments brought us closer together as we still got to participate and make things for our wedding but not as much if we were to plan the whole thing ourselves. One fun thing that we did was having lion dancers enter into the reception with us. We got a 20% discount through Wedgewood. Guests thought that was dope. The dining area is great for a buffet set up or formal sit down dining. The ballroom area is downstairs. The chapel is right next door which makes it easy for guest to walk to. Side note to citizens not involved in the wedding ceremony, please take couple pictures somewhere else when you obviously see a photographer trying to get photos of the bride and her party! I had shots be completely ruined or have to be heavily edited due to activity from unknown parties taking their own random photos in the background of the chapel. They not only made it happen in the safest and most comfortable of ways, but they blew our minds with the design and beauty of the event, which they built completely outside. That's right, we hosted a three-day wedding 100% outside and it was so stunning and comfortable that we all wished the wedding had been longer. If you're looking for something similar (who isn't these days?!) and want inspiration, we bought out the Pelican Inn for our guests and had everyone take a test and commit to quarantining. Our family / friends occupied all seven rooms of the inn and enjoyed time outside of their rooms on the inn's front lawn and at Muir Beach. Molli and Annie arranged all local talent to design and set up: 1. An outdoor rehearsal dinner in Bolinas (at Eleven Wharf, which is like, beyond delicious and owned by the most wonderful woman who is a friend of Small Blue Planet's), 2. A grooms party on the beach 3. A bridal party on a Mill Valley house deck 4. An oceanfront wedding ceremony 5. An extravagant (and very reasonably priced) outdoor tented dinner and COVID safe dance party reception back at the Pelican Inn. IT WAS ALL SO MAGICAL. And what's more, Molli and Annie, after no hours of sleep and long days of running around to make everything totally seamless, were kind and good and wonderful through it all. My family now considers them a part of ours. We're so grateful we know them and can't wait for future events ahead just so we have an excuse to talk to them everyday. They are fair, very reasonably priced (which I learned is rare with wedding planners after interviewing five other vendors) and trustworthy.
