You know what they don't have in China? Frozen Yogurt! Sure, there's ice cream, but less than a week after having returned to California, it was a nice treat to find a frozen yogurt shop, complete with peanut butter flavor. I can do without the gas prices, but it's admittedly nice to be able to get peanut butter frozen yogurt! read more

Buttercups Cool Treats - Peanut Butter - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Oxnard, California

We've been here a few times now, and it's such a cute little spot. It's tucked away, very clean, and has a great atmosphere. The prices seemed a bit higher than some other places, but the quality and taste definitely make it worth it. They also offer a larger variety of toppings than most places, which is a big plus. The only downside is that the ice cream selection is a little smaller, and on two of the three visits we've made, one or two of the ice cream machines weren't working. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it was a little disappointing. The customer service has always been great, and everyone has been friendly and helpful. We also purchased some of the packaged candy they sell and took it home. Unfortunately, it was quite hard when we opened it. Considering it was more expensive than what you'd find at a typical store, I wasn't thrilled with that purchase. Overall, though, we've had a positive experience and will definitely be back. We'll just be sticking to the frozen treats and skipping the candy next time! read more

Buttercups Cool Treats - My Fav! - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Oxnard, California

Buttercups is a staple for frozen yogurt in Oxnard and I have always enjoyed their sweet treats. Located in the Seabridge Vons shopping center, it is always welcoming people through their doors especially on those warm summer days. I am especially thankful that they are open til 10pm to curve those late night munchies. The price definitely adds up fast especially if you get heavier toppings since they charge per ounce (around 82 cents I believe), so I try not to get so much although it is hard because it is so good. On this particular visit I got dark chocolate peanut butter and salted caramel tiramisu, both absolutely wowing me, with some mini chocolate chips on top. They have rotating flavors, but I know that I can always find something I like. I definitely recommend it to anyone in the area and I will for sure be back! read more

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with warm and welcoming customer service, which immediately set the tone for a great visit. The shop itself is beautifully detailed and thoughtfully designed--so much so that I couldn't resist taking pictures of the space. It has a fun, inviting atmosphere that really adds to the overall experience. The ice cream was excellent, and the variety of flavors made it difficult to choose just one. Everything tasted fresh and high quality, and they offer an impressive selection of toppings so you can fully customize your dessert. This was my first time visiting, and it definitely lived up to the hype. If you're spending time at Seabridge and find yourself craving something sweet, this spot is absolutely worth the stop. Looking forward to coming back and trying more flavors next time. read more

Best frozen yogurt hands down. Always super clean and the employees are so nice and friendly. Love the flavor selection and how fresh the froyo always is! read more

Was looking for a frozen yoghurt place looked up there page was excited about the amount of flavors until I saw they only had 8 flavors bummer. Also the strawberry cheesecake tasted so artificial. read more

I was craving some frozen yogurt on the south side of town and remembered I had yet to check out Buttercups! It's a cute spot and I liked the to-go treats option in the fridge. I also appreciated the fully stocked toppings bar and the variety of flavors to choose from for my base frozen yogurt. Checking out was super easy and the female cashier was friendly. However what I did notice was the other person working behind the counter had their feet up on the counter, which I found a bit off putting. Like it was too casual of an atmosphere when the place is full of customers, you should be in your feet. read more

This is a small shop but the frozen yogurt is delicious. They offer fro yo and also sorbet. I had the pomegranate raspberry sorbet and I got lots of different toppings. They also sell other candies and treats. The cashier was very nice and took care of us quickly. Otherwise this place is self serve and the price paid is by weight of your cup. It's close to the harbor so grab a cup and go sit by the water. I'll be back to try the other flavors. read more

Freezing for Oxnardian standards and by the marina butttt I don't care!!! Cravings must be satisfied when they come up. In true foodie spirit I headed over with a beanie, double socks and a huge coat. Brrrrr and so good! Great customer service!!! Love my original tart. Today, I topped it with strawberries, PB and almonds. Yogurt per oz has gone up but I prefer frozen yogurt over regular ice cream! So happy this place is still around! We only have two frozen yogurt places left in Oxnard! This is my fave. Despite the cold, I saw people coming in! Us frozen yogurt lovers, won't be stopped! I always tell myself that the frozen yogurt promotes great gut health for all my other foodie adventures ;) Come support this locally owned spot and keep 'em in business!!! read more

Cute little place similar to Menchie's. They offer a lot of no sugar added frozen yogurts which I appreciated. I got the sea salt pretzel (regular frozen yogurt) and cherry amaretto (no sugar added). They have a lot of toppings to choose from but I always get my staples of mochi and cheesecake bites. I also added blueberry boba and cream sandwich cookies. It was a bit more expensive than Menchie's. They sell pint containers for $9,99 and that was cheaper than my concoction. They also sell ice cream pies for $19.99 which would be fun. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. read more

Craving Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt? Buttercups is located at Seabridge in Oxnard. Cross streets are Victoria Ave & Wooley Rd. It's currently next door to Gyromania & also adjacent to Vons. I've taken my niece & nephews here & they seem to like it. They currently aren't doing any samples at this time. They have 10 Flavors to choose from. Which makes 5 blends, so that makes 15 different Flavors. They only had 1 option in cup size. You grab your cup, self serve any flavors to your hearts desire. Just remember that they charge you on weight. And you can't forget about all the different toppings they have. Nuts, candy, chocolate, cookies, cake, sprinkles, syrup & more. When you've piled up your cup, take it to the register to pay. They have a bunch of Candy, Snacks & Toys for sale too. Pretty Nostalgic with some of the vintage candies. You can earn points by putting in your phone number when you pay or via the Clover App. I always forget, but check in on Yelp for $1 off your purchase. Floors were a bit sticky when I went & there was a rush shortly after I came in. Some customers are kind of rude... But the staff are nice! read more

This is a cute little sweets store and the only yogurt shop within miles. The only thing I would say as constructive feedback is regarding the tipping options on the screen when you pay via credit card. The lowest tip option to select is 25% and it goes up from there to 30% and 35%. I know you don't have to leave a tip or you can manually enter your own tip amount however these high pre populated percentage amounts really put a bad taste in my mouth especially because it is self serve. Thank god th yogurt was good to make up for it. read more

Couldn't say I didn't love a flavor I didn't try! Great options. Clean establishment as well. I will be back soon.

Very Fast and easy Self serving frozen yogurt spot!! Always my go-to when I need a good treat! Cashier is always nice. Only downside is that it can get cramped inside. And there's different flavors every time. read more

Ugh - THE BEST! I got the caramel pretzel flavor, coconut, and vanilla custard. All were good, but the star was the vanilla custard. I could eat a whole bowl. It was perfectly smooth and creamy. It almost tastes like hokkaido icecream!!!! I can't wait to go back! Toppings were good. The only thing they didn't have was Mochi. They also have candy for sale, Including freeze dried gummies. Really unique but a little hard to eat, but definitely not bad. Limited seating inside btw. read more

Absolutely love all the frozen yogurt options that Buttercups always has to offer along with numerous toppings including fresh fruit & can't forget the excellent customer service I receive each time I visit with friends and family! Everything is very clean including where all the toppings are! Today was just as great and the flavors change often so it's always something new. Jocelyn is very welcoming & she provided exceptional & friendly service. I sat inside with my daughter to enjoy our yogurt & admired watching Jocelyn answer all the customers questions. She's very patient & professional! Love the ambiance and the indoor & outdoor seating areas. I enjoy having a high quality frozen yogurt shop in such a convenient location and highly recommend Buttercups if you're looking for perfectly delicious frozen yogurt, candies or fun toys. I was debating to post, but if you're having your staff closed at 9 pm then change your hours on Yelp, your website, and store front. It's so unprofessional that you can't seem to change them, but your staff has to tell customers when there's a bright sign still reflecting your old hours. Please do your due diligence to your customers and update your hours. So frustrating when management doesn't do their part and makes their employees look like the bad guys. read more

The past few months have been dictated by seeking non-dairy options for food, including desserts. We'd been out at Channel Islands Harbor for a seafood lunch and were looking for a light, sweet treat afterward. Thanks to fellow Yelpers this cute indy fro-yo place bubbled up in a search. They did offer several dairy free flavors, which were still of a consistency that wasn't too icy and held together without melting immediately. Saying this because many non-dairy frozen desserts from the grocery store seem to melt really quickly. Buttercups features a lot of very fresh fruit toppings - photo evidence provided. We enjoyed sitting out front enjoying the breeze from the nearby inland harbor. We'll gladly check it out again the next time we're in the C.I. area. read more

Your typical Frozen Yogurt vibe! Multiple flavors to choose from (plain vanilla to various fruits). Awesome assortment of toppings (cereal, candy, boba and much more). Only one size of container so don't be too quick to make it full because the price will shock you. Not saying it's expensive because it is fairly priced; purchase 3 cups with toppings and it only cost me $21 approx. Limited seating so if your intention is to eat and sit then I wouldn't go around peak hours. If you decide to take it home, they do give you a cap. Overall very pleased and would go back. read more

Just needed a little something sweet to chase the savory dinner of next door Mediterranean shop. This place is cute and has an ample supply of sugary toppings. Lots of teens came in while we were there so it must be a local fan fav among the young at heart. Plus it was fun to see some of the nostalgic candies. I usually prefer nondairy options but decided to stray after trying my sister's mountain of deliciousness with the Sea Salt Pretzel as the base. These type of build-your-own dessert bars aren't for me, I don't see the point of piling up a ton of toppings to pay twenty dollar for ice cream. I get why kids love it but my practical adult brain says it's not worth the price. However I would've definitely preferred to grab a pre packed of the Sea Salt Pretzel and eat with cookies instead of a spoon. If only we weren't traveling... and had a freezer to keep it in. read more

Great frozen yogurt, unique flavors. I had the Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel--yum! Really good selection of toppings, much better than Yogurtland. People who work here are very nice. Went 4/25 in the PM. I immediately noticed it was particularly unclean inside, the toppings were messy and there were missing scoopers/empty bins, but whatever. We paid, I tasted my yogurt (I got vanilla custard and chocolate) and to my utter shock the vanilla custard has the MOST rancid taste. I made my sister try it and she agreed. We went back in and I asked if I could get something else because my yogurt was awful and honestly I wish I hadn't. It left a terrible taste in my mouth and I couldn't enjoy my new cup of yogurt thinking about how if one yogurt was rancid/machine wasn't clean how all the other machines and flavors would probably be in the same condition. I ate a bit then ditched it. Price was pretty steep at $7 and some change for a small cup but I never minded paying because buttercups always used to be great. Safe to say I won't be returning as it was a truly gross experience lol read more

I've never felt compelled to write a review before, positive or negative, but I do now. They used to be good, but now I'm not so sure. We went last night and they weren't open, which I get because it's New Year's Day but it wasn't posted anywhere on maps or their website. So we went again tonight at 8:30 (they close at 10) and over half of their flavors weren't working, or not there to begin with. They had sugar-free cinnamon roll, salted caramel/pumpkin pie, gingerbread, and plain tart. The plain tart was fine, it's hard to mess up. The cinnamon roll and salted caramel/pumpkin pie mix both tasted like candles in a bad way. I haven't had to eat a mint after a dessert before but the aftertaste of those was baaaad. Their mochi was rock hard stale too. Luckily I didn't get too much because it was hard to finish. read more

This review is based on dozens of pre pandemic visits. Buttercups is great! The ability to sample a flavor before committing is super, and has helped encourage me to try new flavors (some of which have become favorites). The ability to combine different flavors in a single cup, in the amounts you want, and layered as you wish, with toppings or without, offers wonderful flexibility. Lots of local dinner options mean you can have dinner and dessert at different places without driving between them. Parking is plentiful. Spaces are nice and wide. Ambiance is lovely, especially if you sit outside, next to the fountain by Coffee Bean, overlooking the water. Highly recommend, and can't wait to return! read more

After walking around the marina, I was like hmmm.... I'm a little bit warm now, I should have some frozen yogurt on this extremely cold and windy but sunny day. Being that we live in the era of Covid 19, you can't touch anything, and you tell the people working there what kind of yogurt or ice cream you want and then you let them know what kind of toppings you want as well. The two who were working there at the time were extremely nice and helpful, really apreciated their help. I had a half and half mixture of their watermelon yogurt as well as their coconut cheescake yogurt. And I added the toppings of marachino cherries, cheescake bites as well as chocolate sprinkles. Total bill came out to $10.23 at a rate of $0.69/ounce, which I think is a bit much, but I havent had froyo in a long time, so maybe not. It tasted great though. And extremely refreshing. The watermelon frozen yogurt was very good. Light, but refreshing. Great taste. Not overly sweet, but you can definitely taste the strawberry. The coconut cheesecake worked well with the strawberry yogurt. And the topping were really good with it. Probably wouldn't get the chocolate spirnkles again, it really didnt add anything to the dessert, maybe except for some crunch. The cheescake bites were really good. And who doesnt like marachino cherries? Really enjoyed this snack/dessert. I'm sure on a "hot" day (which I guess here is like 85 degrees) this would be a great place to try. read more

This is a nice clean establishment with great toppings. The only drawback was no fresh fruit. It happens, but i will be back!

I came here for the first time with my bf because we were craving some frozen yogurt and for some reason there is a lack of froyo places now... I was so happy to find this place was open. They have a good variety of flavors for the frozen yogurt and plenty of toppings to choose from. I think "plenty" isn't even doing it justice because there is A LOT. I'm doing a 4. I rounded up because the toppings were good and with many options. Very clean and bright. The coconut frozen "yogurt" was pretty watery to me. It might be the way it is created or meant to be this way but I've had some great vegan (non sorbet - I don't like fruit ice cream/yogurt) froyo or ice cream and such. This just didn't measure up. It's a super cute place and the staff were nice. Great location. I'll try maybe another type when I go next and see if it's better. read more

only putting one star because i cannot put zero. the machines were all broken with watery results, there was no signs indicating that they were not working. tried to put several flavors and they were all watery. this has not been issue before but the employee did not even let us know that the machines were broken. hopefully they fix this issue because i will not be coming back for a while. read more

Super overpriced. One full cup of frozen yogurt with no toppings will set you back $9 bucks.

Love this place! It is clean, well-kept, and the employees are wonderful. They have three different "stations." The first is where you pick your base (waffle cone, graham cracker bits, Oreo cookies, etc.). Then you pick what yogurt you want. Finally you top it off with fresh fruit, sweet treats, and/or gooey hot fudge. The yogurt is always fresh and tasty, as well as their fruit! Love how they change the flavors and also how they create cool combinations. The best flavors are chocolate peanut butter, cheesecake, and salted caramel pretzel! Knocked this place down a star because the store itself is quite small. Which is fine, however, they keep the trial cups next to the register (which is situated as soon as you walk in). So while people are trying to pay there are people walking into the store and there are people walking in between to get trial cups! I cannot even imagine how chaotic it must be during the summer months!! They also have the hot fudge under this glass top, so it is quite difficult for people to push the handle down. Other than a few errors this place is the bomb! read more
