I've been going to Dr. Butera for over two years and I love her. I first went in for chiropractic care but then I tried Reiki and followed the metabolic-balance program. I am very happy with all these services. I will write a little more about the Metabolic balance below, under a separate heading. As far as the chiropractic care, I need to go regularly for back adjustments, but I have been problems with my leg and lower back as well. So far, I always feel the improvement after the first session, but sometimes, depending on the problem, I need to follow up with additional sessions. In the over all I wouldn't trade Dr. Butera with anyone: I will be moving out of Bay Ridge soon, but I have no intentions of switching doctor. :) My experience with the Metabolic Balance. Finally, a program that really works for me! With this diet I overachieved my goal! I lost an additional 14 pounds. This happen in the most natural way because the diet allows your body to find its natural balanced metabolism. I kept on loosing weight until I reached a specific weight. As I was reaching my target weight I was loosing at a slower rate, but continued to loose some weight until I stopped the strict conversion phase. After the plan was over I went back to my everyday life habits. After 5 months I am doing very well and went through the holiday season without imposing particular constraints and enjoying all the holiday meals, work parties and luncheons. The diet allowed me to balance the excesses without having to go back to Dr. Butera for advice: this was the diet I have been looking for for the longest time. I was not getting better, they wanted to do surgery on me and I honestly wanted to stop taking so many medications. I had never considered chiropractic care - who wants to get cracked and have to go to treatment forever right? Wrong!! Dr. Butera was the only Doctor who actually sat down and did a consultation with me. I mean a REAL consultation. She actually wanted to see the x-ray and MRI films not just the reports. She asked me if I really understood my spinal and nerve conditions and I really did not. She put up my films on the view box, took out some illustrations and spent time explaining everything to me. She explained my conditions, what treatments she could offer, and what my treatment protocol would be. She also tested me for various supplements through muscle testing. I did not quite believe it initially and just thought she was trying to make a buck off me. Well, her natural anti inflammatory worked better than my Flexoril. She also gave me something for my ligaments which worked like a charm. She suggested a water pillow and back support. Again, I thought "oh sure" but I did buy them and they really, really helped. I have been very happy with Dr. Butera, and her staff Maria and Ally. They are really down to earth, friendly, helpful and funny. They always have a pot of coffee on, bars to eat and plenty of tea to drink. They really do care for their patients. I have been seeing Dr. Butera for over 15 years now. I absolutely love her and the office. She is gentle, effective, knowledgeable and very dedicated to her patients. In addition to Chiropractic care for my neck, shoulder and lower back pain, I have also used her for Reiki sessions for relaxation and some quiet time. In addition, Dr. Butera also helped me through her supplements. I was suffering with a high count of HPV for several years. My OB told me there was nothing I could do for it. HPV is a virus that can be active or dormant, however it has been linked to cervical cancer. I did nothing for it and every pap smear came back positive for it. One day, I happened to mention it to Dr. Butera and she checked me. She put me on something for viruses. I took it for almost 2 years. I have long stopped taking the supplement. Just wanted to leave my feedback. I have been a patient of this practice for many years. I have received treatment from both Dr. Butera and Dr. Moscowitz. They are both amazing and do a great job. Sometimes, there is a wait, but nothing terrible. The staff is friendly and very outgoing. Whenever I have had an issue, they have always gone out of their way to accommodate me. I have been going to Dr. B for several years. She is very knowledgeable and takes her time with her patients. I like the fact that even though her treatments are gentle, they are very effective. I do not like the "cracking" of my neck. She uses her hands and also has hand held devices that she uses to manipulate the spine.
