He took time to print off several gentle stretches I can use to prevent future back pain, and he shared some great info about different types of exercise that can help. At the time, I sought many modes of treatment, none which gave me the relief I was looking for. I started looking for a chiropractor, and I ended up finding Dr. Eisen through another review site (which were stellar (?!)). I found her bedside manner pretty off-putting from the start. Unfortunately, I was in so much pain, I wanted to believe the treatments would help; I went against my instincts and committed. In retrospect it was an aggravating and wasteful experience. The treatments themselves did very little for me. And anytime I asked what my physical issues were, she'd always respond with a canned "your bone's out". On one occasion, she actually put a strain in my mid-back which I never had before. But when I think of Dr. Eisen, what I really remember is the constant complaining. It was absolutely non-stop. And she would actually be complaining about her life while she was making adjustments. I was constantly trying to steer the conversation while on her table, but man, she would not be denied. A typical conversation could go like this.... Dr. Eisen: ... and then the landlord refused to put in a new toilet! Can you believe that? Me: Er.... Have you been outside? It's really beautiful. Dr. Eisen: Who has time to go outside? I'm so busy here... Me: Uh... Yeah, but it was a really long Winter. It's nice that Spring is here.... uh... Dr. Eisen: I suppose, but my allergies are acting up. My nose won't stop running! Me: Um... You know what I like? Bears. Bears are cute. Do you like bears? Dr. Eisen: A bear recently killed his trainer in California. It was horrible! Horrible! The government should do something about all the bears.... They're... they're so dangerous!!!.. It was a little hard finding the office but once I did it was straightforward after that. For my case at least, the front desk was extremely friendly and on time. Dr. Mike is a very nice and friendly doctor. He listened to all my questions, concerns and really made me feel validated for the reasons I was going there. We were able to do a treatment the same day and I really did feel great after leaving. He took it very slow and gentle with me since I was very nervous and never went for chiropractic care before. I'm sorry to leave such a negative review of a local practice that others seem to love, but my…read moreexperience in Dr. Butera's office was pretty terrible. The receptionist was rude to me as soon as I walked in, interrogating me about why my paperwork wasn't filled out (no one had ever sent me any paperwork to fill out). Then I waited for about 30 minutes to see the doctor -- who turned out to be a DIFFERENT doctor, not Butera, because apparently Butera was out of town for the whole month, though no one had bothered to mention that to me before I came in. As I was sitting in the waiting room, the receptionist and the doctor who WAS in that day (Moskowitz?) were audibly discussing the frustration of dealing with annoying clients -- the receptionist kept sighing and complaining about the clients she'd been talking to on the phone. As Moskowitz was leading me into the exam room, she stopped to ask the receptionist to go out and buy some donuts for them. Mid-afternoon snack time, obvs! Then they discussed exactly what kind of donuts they should buy for a few awkward minutes as I hovered there, not sure what to do. (We hadn't entered the exam room yet; we were standing right outside it). When we got into the room, things continued to go south. It took Moskowitz at least 20-30 minutes to read over the forms I'd filled out in the waiting room. She asked me inappropriate questions about being single without children, and she laughed when I told her I wasn't pregnant (why that's funny, I have no idea). Then she stepped out of the room to help another patient get set up, leaving me in the room with nothing to do for about 10-15 minutes before any type of treatment had been started. Finally she came back and began the actual treatments, which were fine, except that I was inadvertently flashing her because the gown she'd given me to wear kept opening up -- the velcro had worn off the closures. (Time to invest in some new gowns, please!) All in all, I was in their office for almost 2 hours for what I'd assumed would be a simple chiropractic adjustment (I thought I'd be there for an hour, max). Plus, most of that time was spent waiting around while the doctor and receptionist gabbed about irrelevant stuff. (They continued to gab behind the desk while I was checking out.) This was the most unprofessional doctor's office I've ever been to. I don't know if Dr. Butera behaves the way the other folks in her office seem to, but I hope not!? From all the positive reviews I've seen here, I'd guess not. Maybe you just need to see Butera herself to have a good experience there.
