All I have to say is WOW! Seriously, I was in the area for work, so I got out my Yelp app and Butcher Bobs came up. I was NOT DISAPPOINTED. One of the best BBQ places in all of PA. I ordered a half rack of ribs, side of mac and cornbread. OMG. The ribs were tender, with an amazing dry rub and BBQ on the side. They were a nice size with a great smoke flavor. Speaking of smoke, next time I go, I'm getting the bucket of mac. Creamy, smokey, spoons full of comfort. Finally the cornbread. Probably one of the best cornbreads I've ever had; it is more in line with a pound cake. I could eat an entire loaf. Smooth and sweet. I got my order to go. Great customer service! read more

I've been here.... back in 2021/2022. I was driving up to Wilkes for WHATEVER reason and it was early April. I recognize the inside, the deck and the smoker outside. I was on 309 North and passed it (it was on the left hand side). So, I pull a u-ey (is that how one abbreviates U turn). I was excited because I saw the smoker outside with a ton of smoke coming out of the chimney. I go in, order a full rack of ribs (why not? There was that smoker outside pumping out smoke). I was SO disappointed by how hard the ribs were. They were not tender AT ALL. Maybe I just got a bad batch, but I definitely have had WAY better ribs. I would not recommend this place. It has the look. Smoker out front rolling, quaint looking restaurant, but that is about it. Pulled pork and chicken were dry. Mac and cheese ok. No brewed tea, no pickle and onions with bbq. I consider bbq staples. Bbq sauce was good. Should have read the room 12:15 pm and one person eating in restaurant. Drove up the road after lunch and a couple of other local restaurants were packed. I noticed on some of responses the owner said that customers should have said something. Like, please serve us the moist bbq and not left over dry bbq? I think two half eaten lunches should have spoken volumes. I am a robust 285 and rarely leave an unfinished lunch even a mediocre one. Still searching for those hidden gems. I guess I am just spoiled with western KY bbq. Reply to response Don't worry about blessing my heart. Let's pray for a blessing on the bbq chef. Also I don't think Texas barbecue wants your dry bbq compared to theirs. I have eaten at multiple bbq joints in Texas and never had bbq that dry. Western KY bbq is not sauced, the meat 100% stands on its own. In fact I don't care for much of the sauce there. I don't live there but it is always worth the trip for the bbq. Ok ok Central PA, y'all can smoke some meat. Recommendations would be for a variety of sauces. Sauce was needed because some of the meat was a bit dry, but still tasty. Still gave them a 5. Ordered thru GrubHub. Oddly Uber Eats was requiring me to buy sausage. Eh en. Cole slaw was on point. Whether you like vinegary or sweet it hits you right in the middle of perfection. Beans were tasty. I got a sampler and didn't try the chicken. Full from 1 rib, one brisket slice and a couple of spoons of pulled pork. Made a stop on a trip and found this spot. Not sure but there might be a few sites listing an old address so check on this. Food ordered: burnt ends, Texas brisket sandwich, pulled port sandwich, sampler. Food was very good, brisket fell apart, burnt ends had a great sauce (recommend the family size to share) the sampler had ribs,brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and kielbasa. Plus you get 2 sides. Sampler was great mix and quite a bit of food. The sides were very small and I think the focus was on the meat. BBQ sauces. There were a number of them to choose from - Carolina , Kansas City, bbq , garlic bbq, honey bbq, habanero bbq, and I am sure a few others. Not sure if they are homemade or not but it did give you options. Scenery- small place but clean. Great smell of the bbq from outside. I would recommend. Best of luck. read more

Barbecue is not one of my favorite types of food. I do not enjoy getting messy when I eat and I'm a bit OCD when it come to wiping my hands. Which barbecue does not allow for clean eating. Just because I do not enjoy eating barbecue does not mean that I cannot appreciate it every so often. Just so we are clear I partook of this via their food truck. When I did, I was able to select between two meats and two sides. Not a bad deal in my opinion. With that I do have to say it was not necessarily my favorite choices of meat. I ended up with baby back ribs and brisket. For my sides I opted for the mac n cheese and cole slaw. Again, I hate getting messy while I eat, so I went at this with utensils. Was it a hard task to go about? Yes. Did I look a bit silly doing so? Yes. Was it less messy? No. What I really appreciated with this is that flavor of the barbecue. It was amazing. Of course you smelt it before you even saw it. Once I had the food in front of me it looked like a heaping pile of mess. I had to dig through the meats and pick out the tastiest pieces first. But I did little more than just devour the sides. They, to me, were the stars of the show. The mac n cheese had the right consistency so that you weren't overwhelmed by it. The cole slaw was a nice cool element that brought you back to reality while eating this. Definitely a decent meal to be had. The staff were upbeat and excited to be there. It's almost impossible to say enough good things about this simple, off-the-highway, out-of-the-way piece of BBQ heaven. We ordered way too much for takeout. And after diving into it, way too little. Every single lightly-smoked bite was way beyond good and we're still doling out teeny-tiny tastes of the plentiful sauces. Nothing is haphazard here. It's all well-studied and carefully-crafted. I was so happy I stumbled upon this place coming back from a hike at Ricketts Glen! This rivals any BBQ I've had down south. Wow, the pulled pork was fantastic, juicy and tender, but not overly saucy which I enjoyed. Loved the collard greens and baked beans as sides! Extremely friendly and accommodating staff that willed my dog Judy and I to sit outside on a beautiful October afternoon and enjoy the pulled pork together! What a spoiled girl. Man, what a spot. From the second you walk in the door you feel like you're hanging out at a family bbq. Super friendly staff, quaint setting, and the smell, oh the smell. Most BBQ needs sauce to complete the meal, at Butcher Bob's the meat is so flavorful you'll forget to put it on till the end (I did). Threw some of their house made Carolina style sauce on and it somehow made it even better. The coleslaw was super fresh and crisp, as well as the pickles. We are BBQ fans and visited last night and were very pleased. There were 5 of us so we tried pulled pork, brisket, chicken, brisket chili, ribs and burnt ends! Everything was fantastic! Seasonings were excellent and the smoke flavor was just right. Mac and cheese side was flavorful and creamy and good portion. The fries were seasoned and crispy. The burnt ends were like candy! It's ok bbq. I got the sampler I tried everything. The ribs were over cooked and dry. I understand that happens. The chicken wasn't very good. The brisket was ok. And the pulled pork was as well. I travel alot so I guess PA isn't the best for smoked bbq, but it is edible if your driving through. Stick to the pulled pork and brisket! They accommodated my requests to swap chicken leg with wings. So, I had ribs - delicious fall off the bone! Smoke flavor from that Cherry wood was amazing. This was an amazing find, a little off the highway. We were greeted by the delicious smells from the smoker next to the restaurant. The indoor area is small and cozy, but the deck was perfect on a sunny day. The food was amazing, you can tell the chef is devoted to his craft! I had the meatloaf sandwich-it was smoky, moist, tender and savory. The coleslaw was even remarkable and delicious! My husband had the brisket sandwich, and it was piled high, tender and juicy. My wife and I actually live in Maryland and we were on our our way home from the Thanksgiving weekend in the Poconos and stopped in for a quick lunch which was absolutely delicious. Decor: In regards to the decor, you get a very homie vibe and it just feels very welcoming. Even though the restaurant was small, there are about 6 or 7 tables inside which are all spaced out well and comfortably within the restaurant. We spoke to the head chef Sean who said they had only been open 5 months and do have outside seating as well once it warms up again. Service: Our waitress was super nice and very attentive to our table throughout our whole meal. The head Chef Sean even came out to chat with us about all of the different meat and other dishes they offer as well as a little bit about his experience. Food: My wife and I both ordered the smoked rack of ribs which were prepared with a dry rub and literally fell off the bone. The house BBQ they provide on each table is also amazing and tangy and not overpoweringly sweet which still allows the smokiness of the ribs to shine through. Sean also brought us out a sample of their ribeye sandwich which was served on a light fluffy roll and had melted cheese on top. The ribeye was perfectly smoked and literally melts in your mouth! We also got try try a sample of the pulled pork and coleslaw which were both equally amazing. The pulled pork also melted in your mouth and was perfectly smoked and tangy as well. Portion Size: Huge portions! I was so stuffed and couldn't finish the full rack so don't worry about leaving hungry. TL/DR: 11/10 best BBQ in the mountains! It's been a while since I posted a review and this spot in Mountain Top (off Rt.309) is just want our area was missing. Will follow my normal format: Parking: ample parking for the size of the restaurant (it's not big, will post pictures) Service: Owner, cook and waitress were all engaging and pleasant. You could tell they wanted us to come back. It was a cool day and you could feel it. Not sure heat was turned down as we arrived late on Sunday. Think it was strange that BBQ would close at 6PM on a Sunday (maybe they will reconsider as most don't go out to eat until that time). Food: Is it the best BBQ ever? No. Is it the best in the area? YES!!! The sauce and dry rub were delicious. Pulled pork was not dry. Burgers were made to order and perfect temperature. The meats aren't all local but you can taste the quality and freshness. Baked beans were delicious and so was the Mac and cheese. Price: Comparable to BBQ joints down south. I would say things were reasonably priced. Verdict: PRINCESS LOVED THE RIBS!!!!
