The legends are true. I thought it was odd the way people discussed the Busy Bee... its food, its bathrooms, its awesome gifts, and its awesome staff. I finally stopped by while traveling across the state. The billboards praising their bathrooms don't do them justice. It is a little unexpected to see neon lights highlighting the bathroom's entrance - but their there, and the bathrooms are remarkably clean, spacious, and private. The gift shop has something for everybody, and got me to buy things I didn't need. The staff were all friendly and seemed to take pride in their work. If you are going to have to stop along I10 east of Tallahassee - this should be that stop. read more

Friends long have told me, if in Live Oak, I need to go by the Busy Bee. A friend's mom in Branford came home before Christmas with bags of items and declared she'd done most of her Christmas shopping . . . at the gas station. At the Busy Bee. Local politicians will declare that if the county government could just run half as well as the Busy Bee how nice it would be. Things like that: the Busy Bee is legendary in Suwannee and Madison counties. So, when visiting with a friend in Live Oak, I decided to drive up to the Busy Bee, fill up the tank, and see what the big deal was. I'm glad I did. Basically it's a gas station, yes, but instead they have a Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, and a wealth of country crafts and foodstuffs under their own label--jams, marmalades, honey, things like that. They carry the Berry Patch syrups from Thomasville and a lot of other regional foodstuffs, too. They are utterly famous for their fudge so I had to get some--they have quite an array of flavors but I just got some chocolate walnut and some maple walnut. Both were very good as well. The chocolate fudge especially tasted homemade. I think why the Busy Bee has so many five-star reviews is it does really wow the customer. We're used to gas stations being mundane if not downright grimy places. This one isn't, it's sparkling clean and there's an effort to be corporate, cohesive, and an almost Disney-level of fascination with image: the fudge in example is packed in boxes that say on them things like "Hey honey, it's bee-licious fudge!". Obviously, those boxes are for fudge alone. Nothing appears to be an afterthought but coordinated to a high degree. It's impressive and all the foodstuffs I bought have been really good as well. Stopped here to charge the Tesla. They had 12 super chargers. There was also quite a few gas pumps. The store is an upscale take on a gas station. It's like a mega convenience store with everything you could possibly think of. There were souvenirs, clothes, food, snacks, bakery, fudge, jerky, smokes, make your own ice sundae, boiled peanuts, a Dunkin Donuts and a Burger King. The bathrooms were amazing! Who knew one could be so happy to walk into a gas station! All gas stations should use as their model when building/reconfiguring in the future! Literally the best gas station. PLENTY of gas pumps, drive thru Dunkin Donuts, and I believe a Burger King as well. The inside is what you would find from a typical gas station, as well as a souvenir shop, and then some fun goodies spread throughout (my personal favorite is their flavored popcorn - while expensive at $8 a bag, the white cheddar ranch is what popcorn dreams are made of)!!! First stop on the way to New Orleans. This place was packed. Parked a good ways from the gas pumps and went in to use their restrooms and the kids grabbed some snacks. We love Busy Bees and have stopped at the one a few exits East near White Springs several times. Always clean. Friendly service. We turned in and the area was positively buzzing with activity. While I filled the gas, my Queen took the little workers into the hive to hit the necessaries. Restrooms were the bees knees, both huge and very clean! But Honey... there's so much more! There were two fast food establishments inside along with a virtual cornucopia of food and snack options. We steered the little ones away from the sugar stations this time but will undoubtedly have to give in on our next stop. No reason to get stung with so many great options available! It's not often that a truck stop makes me think "I have to do a review", but this one did. Walking into the location, one sees fresh coffee and drinks, fun merchandise, quality clothing. The only other location I could compare it to would be the Cracker Barrel General Store. Walking into the ladies restroom was a WoW! The bathrooms are exceptionally clean with spacious toilet areas. Years ago, my husband was a truck-driver, so I have experience visiting truck stops all over the country. Some truck stops were great - and others were definitely NOT great. The Busy Bee is a top of the line rest stop. The location is perfect for driving down into Florida from the panhandle. Or stopping in off the turnpike to get back onto the Florida panhandle. To describe this place we'd have to start with a small list of what they don't have and trust it would be small because this place has so much to offer travelers. Similar to the other stop which highlights a beaver, here you have an upscale adventure in the bathroom. It's elegant and sleek and always clean, never a wait. There is a Burger King within where you can dine like the King and Queen you are and rest your weary driving legs. If you need a sugar pep they have a plethora of candy goods with a full candy shop. You can always get your sweet fix at the in house Dunkin' Donuts where they offer everything on the menu. There are countless baked goods even full pies that would be great for that last minute gift or for the road. The gift shop is incredible with one of a kind exclusive finds from babies to kitchens to just spoiling yourself or those you love, including pets. This is hands down the best gas station I have ever been to! Want expensive coolers or thermoses, donuts, Burger King, plates, blankets, or twenty different types of jerky? This is the place! As soon as I walked in the door I was blown away by the selection of jerky and then I realized that they have three times more than the original display I was so impressed with! They have a billion different drinks that are bottled and canned in the big beer hive. I perused the beer selection but got a milk to go with my box of donuts from Dunkin Donuts! What really got me was the super nice bathroom! I haven't been in a nicer bathroom, especially at a gas station. I agree with all the other reviewers on the bathrooms - the restrooms are comparable to what you would see in a nice restaurant or hotel. It's not your typical cruddy gas station where you would leave feeling like you needed to bathe in a tub of hand sanitizer. The kids loved the taffy, sweets & icee selection (with a topping bar!), there's also an assortment of gifts, decor, honey, seasonings, jams, olive oil, truffle and fudge. I picked an assortment of jerkey for the road ($1.99 oz/beef & turkey) or $3.99/oz for elk & others). All were pretty good - teriyaki, BBQ, ancho chili, garlic. If you need to take a tinkle, make sure to stop here. It's also a good stop for your 4-legged friends to stretch their legs - there is a pet-friendly water fountain by the bagged ice bins outside the front door! read more

We were finally heading back to Texas when we needed to stop for gas. I had never heard of Busy Bee and from the road thought we were pulling in to any other gas station/convenience store. As we pulled into the entry way, both my husband and I noticed all the bells and whistles and simultaneously said "What's Busy Bee?" Well, in a nutshell, Busy Bee is a smaller version of a Buc-ee's, but with less helpful employees. For those of you who are still confused, the best description for what we're talking about here is a travel center on steroids. The first thing I noticed, and I have to give BIG props for this, is that the space between the gas pumps is huge!!! It's amazing, you could easily fit three cars between each pump. Considering you'll have people leave their car at a pump and essentially hold cars in line behind them hostage at some places, this is genius and much appreciated! There's ample room for vehicles to move about *safely* and there were plenty of open pumps. Another thing you can count on with a travel center on steroids is that the restrooms are super clean! Seriously, extremely clean. Yay!! This one did not disappoint. There are tons of fully stocked stalls and lines are very unlikely. Also, it wouldn't be a self respecting travel center on steroids unless there was an entire aisle devoted to beef jerky. Yep, they got that here! They also have several food options (donuts, burgers, fudge, pre packaged food) and an array of Busy Bee snacks, candy, syrup, mustard and all sorts of other food products with a Busy Bee stamp. Then we come to all the extras! It's basically a little store with groceries, lots of regional gifts, clothing, jewelry, etc. Lots of stuffed gators too... and gator heads, gator stickers, gator key chains- you're in Florida. It really is a great place to stop and rest and stretch your legs. You can easily get lunch from several options, frozen yogurt, a ton of different drinks and do some shopping while you're at it. These types of concepts are great and I'm all for them! Where does this one need to improve? The training of their employees, or perhaps just better hiring guidelines. Not everyone is cut out for customer service. The first thing that made a weird impression was before I went inside. It's minor and doesn't affect the rating, but I'll mention it because perhaps I shouldn't have been so surprised by what happened later. While my husband ran in to use the restroom and pay cash for the pump, I was gathering the kind of garbage that builds up on a road trip to throw away in a trash can. As I was walking towards the trash can, an employee pulled out the bag, but before he put in the new one in his hand, turned around and had a really long conversation with the lady at a pump on the back row. Now initially I assumed she asked him a question and he was doing his job, so I stood there waiting. Around the three minute mark I heard a few words and realized the conversation had turned towards weather and less relevant topics and by this time there were two additional people juggling various refuse and also waiting for the trash can. I finally just hiked to the next trash can. I'm used to there being one per pump, but this was one in the middle of four. With the distance between the pumps, the walk was a bit far. He was still talking to the lady when I came back. Again, that was super minor, not really worth mentioning, but in retrospect, a sign of their customer service training. He was aware of the three people waiting, but didn't prioritize or multitask. When I entered, my husband was waiting in line to pay for some merchandise and the gas. I didn't witness the first interaction, because I went to use the clean restrooms and browse the products, but my husband later told me that the guy at the counter didn't even acknowledge his hello or say a single word to him during the transaction. The next part I witnessed because I'm me, so I had stopped to stare at the bakery display case next to the register, lol! My husband walked back in and told the gentleman that he did not put the money on the right pump and repeated the pump number again and the amount he had paid him. This guy actually sighs and mumbles what sounds like 'alllright.' However, he makes zero eye contact with my husband because he's carrying on with a personal, and fairly animated conversation with the staff member next to him. He was so indifferent to the customers, and friendly to the employees, it was downright rude. No apology for the inconvenience, no acknowledgement he made a mistake, no eye contact, no smile, no greeting, no thank you- none of the bare minimum attributes you expect in an interaction with a human being when you are handing them money, smh. Anyway, there's bad customer service all over the place, the gas pumps, restrooms and goodies still make this a good stop! read more

This store is a perfect example of how gas stations/ truck stops should look. From the gas pumps to the bathrooms everything was amazing. We travel a lot and this was the first time stopping after always seeing the sign. This location has a Dunkin doughnuts and a Burger King located inside with an array of other amazing options for snacks. From candy and vegan snacks to an ice cream wall and exotic jerky. I always say if the bathrooms are clean it's a go. Not only were the bathrooms clean but each stall is roomy and no gaps in the doors so complete privacy. I was able to find my favorite candy salt water taffy and they have a great variety of flavors to choose from. Customer service was amazing and I couldn't have asked for it to have been any better. This Busy Bee location gets my vote as the best gas station/convenience store stop along I-10 in FL, probably even go as far as saying from FL until you get to Buc-ees in TX. It's a pretty big facility. There's a separate entrance/fueling area/parking area for the big rigs on the north side. At the front, there's 28 gas pumps & 4 diesel pumps (on the ends) and plenty of room to maneuver between pumps, even while towing a 24-ft boat/trailer. Plenty of parking spots as well. There's also 12 Tesla Supercharger unit/bay on the south end parking lot. The restrooms are roomiest, cleanest restrooms you'll find in a gas station off I-10. Very well-maintained. There's a Dunkin Donuts and a Burger King inside along with great selection of chocolates, fudge, snacks, drinks and gifts. I always make this one of my stops when traveling on I-10. You'll know why when you try this station for the first time. Safe Travels!! read more

Wow. This place is magical. You can get all the standard stuff - gasoline, snacks, etc. also, good name gift goods of all stripes. Prices are a little high, but the products are so wonderful you might not mind so much. Restrooms are huge, plenty of room within each stall. Ladies room has greenery and flowers, Men's room has TVs. What in the name of Heaven is this? It is part Cracker Barrel, part Truck Stop, part Fast Food stop, and entirely entertaining. Looking for prime beef jerky or local honeys, they have you covered. Need batteries or motor oil, check that too. Want packed sandwiches, beverage or that unique alligator head paper weight, well you have found your nirvana. Need to listen to the game while you are in the restroom, well the restrooms are like private country club facilities. My husband spoke of Busy Bee as though it were the Taj Majal of gas stations. They carry a great reputation of having the cleanest bathroom stalls. While I have stumbled upon a toilet full with paper and another piece dropped on the floor, the overall appearance and cleanliness is by far one of the best I've encountered. This Busy Bee also has a candy area, Dunkin Donuts, and Burger King. Additionally, they have showers for truckers and the normal foods you would find at any convenience store (slushies, various rotating sausages or a combination of sausage and some carb-laden covering). This is also a great mid-way point between Jacksonville and Tallahassee. read more

This place is notoriously known for the most beautiful public restroom on Interstate 10. The restroom is wood floor, door, and wall panel. It has V hand blow dryer that is quick to fast dry. It is the enjoyment for the stop after a long drive. Good for the scenery, visit the shop with offer, Burger King or Dunkin donuts. This all the good stuff to enjoy. The bad - gas price is highway robbery. They are normally 10 to 20 cent more than any truck stop or city gas station. We have bad experience on the boil peanut. It gives food poison to one of my family member. The setup is good with Italian ice, frappe, or fruity drink. It does have the local cure meat with beef, turkey or wild boars jerky. Oh my word! Let's talk about Busy Bee for a little bit here, shall we? I actually came across here on accident while I was driving to Tallahassee. I usually make a pitstop every few hours and decided to pull off the side of the road after getting on I10. What a glorious decision! This is the best rest stop/gas station ever! First off, this is basically the nicest gas station you will ever visit in your life. I'm not kidding. It's pretty ritzy. The bathrooms are above some of the nicest bathrooms I've seen at pretty high-end restaurants. As far as food offerings go, you pretty much have your pick of whatever you want here. There's a full Dunkin Donuts and a Burger King inside, and then there's a beef jerky station and a fudge station. On top of that, there's a self-serve frozen yogurt area and a Slurpee area. And then there's an entire place for coffee and sandwiches. There are shirts, novelties, tons of candy and pretty much anything you can think of that you might ever need (or not need) while on a road trip. I was so thrilled by coming here that I almost feel embarrassed at how excited I was to go back, but this place was excellent.
