Nobody is confusing this place with the Disney World of gas stations. But Busy Bee absolutely wants you to know it studied the Buc-ee's playbook in great detail and copied enough homework to pass the class. And honestly? Respect. After hours on the road, I pulled in needing gas, caffeine, food, a restroom, and probably some emotional reassurance from the highway gods. Busy Bee delivered on most of it. First off, the bathrooms were clean. Not "gas station clean." Actually clean. That alone immediately moves a roadside stop up at least one full star in America's travel grading system. Then came the snack exploration phase. They had homemade jerky, specialty snacks, random road trip impulse purchases, and enough "well I wasn't planning to buy this but here we are" items to keep me wandering around longer than intended. It's the kind of place where you walk in for a drink and somehow leave holding candied pecans, smoked sausage, and a giant bag of pork rinds you'll later regret in silence. The overall vibe was solid too. Convenient. Clean. Easy stop. Good energy from the place itself. The employees though? Let's just say the staff had the collective facial expression of people who may have originally applied at Buc-ee's and ended up here after the universe made other plans. Nobody was rude. But there was definitely an emotional support shift happening behind the counter. Still, for a highway stop, Busy Bee absolutely gets the job done. It's a good place to refuel both your gas tank and your stomach before heading back into the chaos of interstate survival. This is probably a true three-and-a-half star stop if we're getting technical about it. But Yelp refuses to acknowledge the beauty of nuance, and I'm feeling generous today. So four stars it is for the little roadside gas station that looked at Buc-ee's empire and said, we can absolutely make a run at this thing.

How they operate in a town as small as live oak where your reputation is everything.... I don't know. Listen... Mr.Reese seemed like a kind man, I had a truck towed there. The driver of the truck said the tow would be $95. I get to Reese's to pick up the truck... ($170 to replace x1 plug, and to 'clean' x1 small connector piece in the battery ) He says (Mr.Reese, the owner) "Well I don't know what happened... that tow truck guy told me to charge y'all $135. Little fat guy. Must've had a hell of a time getting that thing on the truck! Them guys are always trying to make money" Hm. I paid Mr. Reese ($301, for the now $135 tow and $170 plug replacement) I ask for the tow truck company number... I am just curious as to where the $45 surplus from the tow truck came from. I call them.... And they say 'no Ma'am, we charge $95-105 for that tow. Reese charged you the rest" I was like what.... So I go back inside to confront him.... He said "Ma'am my time is valuable and I called them for you" ahh the truth comes to light! Then why LIE he literally said that the tow truck company must be scamming me.... But it was HIM! Ohhhh Mr.Reese.... You didn't think I could call them and see what happened?? Y'all I am just shocked that what seems like a sweet old family ran small business is just a bunch of scammers... I 100% agree time is valuable, why I'm not bitching about the $170 to replace a plug and clean a piece. Ok, I'll eat that. I also called the tow truck company (Dennis Garage Inc. out of Jasper, great company) to let them know what Reese was saying. He is up charging and then blaming them for it...

I stopped here on a recent business trip up north and found this gas station a bit better priced…read morethan the ones just off of Interstate 10. This is only off of Interstate 10 about a half mile and has a Moe's Southwest Grill, a Krystal's burger place, a Beef O'Brady's, a Subway, a Papa John's, a Wendy's and more if you want to tie in a food stop with your gas stop. There are two separate prices, one for cash and one for credit, but that seems to be the norm with gas stations now. The inside has the usual convenience store items. The gas station was clean enough and the woman at the counter was friendly enough. Overall, this is a decent enough gas station, but nothing special.
