Prior to coming here, I tried to do some research at home on different types of settings to no luck. Billy immediately pulls up many samples and gave me an explanation of what each settings would look like. After about 10 mins, we settled on a details and I opted to skip out on the chain until the pendant was completed. When it came time to pickup, TQ helped me decide on some chains that would compliment the pendant and I absolutely fell in love with it. We opted for the cuban link vs the rope chain. Shoppers Beware - I made (5) transactions with Billy and thought everything was good. I bought a pendant and chain from his store, repaired a bracelet, bought a grill with 12 teeth, and got a custom pendant made. The custom pendant came out nice but customer service and quality is lacking. I gave him a gold necklace to melt down and a jade piece, he quoted a price, middle of transaction he requoted and increased price by $850 due to a mistake his "factory" made. Whatever, I paid it. I wore this piece 5 times within (3) years (yes, I literally went through my selfies and counted). This is not my everyday chain/pendant and it's heavy so I hardly ever wear it. The clasp broke while I was literally holding it. Like it was Saltered fixed together instead of having a pin where the pendant can move freely. He tried to charge me to fix it for wear and tear but I pushed back based on it being a workmanship issue because regardless of how much time passed I barely wore it so there's no excuse. He even said out of his own mouth how good the pendant looked! And I said yeah because I never wear it. After back and forth he agreed to fix it at $0 cost but you can tell we were both frustrated while talking through it. I don't live in the Bay anymore so I had my stepdad pick it up. The pendant came back with (2) chips on it and a purple ink like someone literally drew on it. Photos attached. He said it wasn't like that when he gave it to my dad but the picture from my dad is right after he picked it up. I texted Billy at 330ish telling him my dad was on the way. My dad sent me a picture as soon as he got to the car from picking it up at 4ish. I didn't notice the ink in the picture because 1. I thought it was on the bag and 2. I was hyper focused on the scratch/chip near the clasp. I seen it in person which is now over a month later from getting picked up because like I mentioned I don't live in the Bay anymore. He tried to tell me he didn't give it to us like that. LOL cmon man what +65 year old man walking around with a purple marker and marking up their daughter's jewelry after driving to SJ from SFO to pick it up. Make it make sense. Whatever this is it doesn't come off easy. And the way they colored in the circle on the pendant you can tell this was intentional. My mom warned me and felt some type of way about me doing business with him. She just never trusted it. From me giving him gold to melt down, letting him repair my bracelet (which my mom swears does not look like the same gold), his prices, and even going back to him to repair the pendant. I should've listened. Find a jeweler you can trust. I would never recommend or spend $ with this company again no matter how nice the pieces look. Customer service and integrity means more to me. FYI He's in a different location now where there are a lot of other jewelers. I recommend shopping around! Prior to this incident w/ my custom piece I went to Billy to purchase a clasps for my everyday chain and he tried to charge an outrageous price like +$100 dollars. I firmly believe that integrity and accountability are essential not only in the workplace, but also in everyday life. Billy promised to obtain information to meet the client's expectations, but there was a lack of communication on his part. I can provide my conversation with Billy upon request. In his response, Billy mentioned, "Achieving an exact color match with your existing necklace, especially if it was sourced elsewhere, can be difficult due to gold variations." As a professional business, this information should have been communicated clearly. Furthermore, none of Billy's 24K necklaces matched the pendant he created. Instead, his team recommended that I purchase an 18K necklace from him, assuring me that it would match and no one would notice the difference. I found this to be odd. (I had previously mentioned this in my review.) After retrieving the pendant from Billy, he even asked if he could post the item on his social media because it featured photos of my loved ones, to which I agreed. However, this never happened. It doesn't make sense for him to promote a gold that didn't look like its variation. Furthermore, his team mentioned that they entered the industry at a young age and got played as well, and they didn't want to be like other jewelers out there (I will not disclose any names). Whether or not this is true, it's not appropriate for anyone to discredit another person, especially when I raised legitimate concerns about product. I DON'T SAY THIS LIGHTLY. These guys are the best in Bay Area. I had initially got quoted for a piece with 29g amount of gold for my wrap. After the piece was done turns out I was short a couple grams after weighing. These guys spared no time, stood on business and apologized for the mistake due to an error in book keeping. To resolve this they reimbursed me in cash for the missing gold (even though some was lost due to polishing and setting diamonds) and gave me store credit. Don't hesitate to hit up Billy at Bust Down & Co! I've gotten many custom pieces all from LA over the years, so when I saw Billy and his work on IG, right here in the Bay I was excited to hit him up for my next piece. I really wanted a chain with Dragon heads and he suggested I use one of my existing Franco chains and add some custom Dragon heads on it. I also had a diamond lock that I asked him if he could use the diamonds on the Dragon head which he said he would design something and send it to me. After a week or so he sent me the design and I was very happy with it and at that point Billy did his thing. A couple weeks later my piece was done and boy he did not disappoint! Love how my chain turned out with the Dragon Heads, it's niiice. I will definitely hit up Billy in the future! read more
