I was so relieved after I found Bushwick and Julie that I was able to give the first company the heave-ho.

To my family, what was important was the kindness of the Director and her staff's willingness to guide us through the whole plot purchasing process along with options provided. My mom passed away a few years back (f*ck cancer!) and we were not in the right headspace. We were first timers and really needed guidance and patience. Landscape, Upkeeps, Grounds are all clean. The staff are very nice. It can be quite hectic at times during traditional Chinese cultural visits like during Cheng Ming, which coincides with Easter. The staff keeps it going and are usually helpful. If you have the money, this location is best for any family living in the 5 borough. Otherwise, it's Jersey or Upstate NY. The only 2 issues I have with Cypress Hill is 1) we paid for perpetual care but often we see lots of weeds & trash around my moms' grave. So we end up cleaning it ourselves. 2) WHY is there ONLY 1 bathroom?!? It's horrible and that bathroom is quite gross... so you might want to hold your bladder... Good luck friends.

They even have trash receptacles just in case. I normally bring a large jug of water because the water spigot is a bit of a walk from where my grandmother is buried. I'd also imagine that the spigot is shut off during winter to prevent water from freezing and damaging the pipes. Normally I go to Glendale Florist about a few blocks away from the cemetery for a bouquets of flowers and cemetery cones but there are many other similar businesses in the area too. For those who might be wondering why there are large evergreen bushes planted next to graves in the Asian section, it's a symbolic cultural ritual that a number of people cherish. I respect other people's beliefs but my family and I don't participate in this particular activity. I had to ask about the beliefs behind this practice since I was not knowledgeable and also wondering. It was explained to me that these evergreen bushes are connected to the thought of eternalness which is probably why these bushes aren't shaped or pruned either. The sections are well marked. I don't know how much a plot costs because a family member made these arrangements so contact CHC for answers to your questions.

January 11, 2026 I…read morefirst started dealing with Sprung Monuments in late 2016 to make arrangements for my parents passing. My family chose to use their services again in February of 2025 after the death of my husband which was a traumatizing event. Initially, I dealt with the representative at their Wellwood Ave. location, who was pleasant and helpful. That rep left soon after and I was assigned someone else. The stone was approved by me in June with an installation date for the last week in August. I set an unveiling date for early September, and notified family and friends accordingly. As the estimated completion date approached, I called Sprung rep to find out the status, to which they were unable to give me a response. When I finally spoke to them, I was told that the "Cemetery rejected the stone." No further explanation was provided. When I then called the cemetery and spoke to Phyllis, the person in charge, I was told she had no record of Sprung notifying the cemetery that the stone had been placed, let alone that it had been rejected. After many calls to Sprung and the cemetery, it was determined that the stone setter from Sprung saw a "mistake" in the inscription and removed the stone. Mistakes happen but no one at Sprung had the decency to call or explain the issue. Instead, they continually ignored my requests for answers and told lies about why the stone was removed. Eventually, Sprung corrected and replaced the stone, however at this point we were forced to delay the unveiling multiple times, several months after the intended date, which was agonizing for our entire family. After giving myself time to recover and compose myself after the unveiling, I pushed further for an explanation from Sprung. I sent a long email explaining the whole story, complete with documentation of all the back and forth emails and the names of Sprung's main office representatives and the cemetery. Much to my surprise, as promised on his website, Adam Sprung did respond to me within 24 hours. However, it was a standard "out of office" reply. When I emailed him again, his response dated November 10, 2025 was that "the monument for {my husband} was set on September 19th, 2025, I have attached the completed photo of the monument above. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do." I responded with a scathing email. We already had the unveiling on October 19th, so I knew the stone was set. It was clear that Adam was being intentionally ignorant of the context of the issues in my email. I never heard from him again. It was insulting to me in my grief that not only would no one give me a direct answer during this time, I was lied to on multiple occasions by multiple people at Sprung. There were hours of back and forth, between several parties, with no one accepting blame or admitting to the truth. I was lied to by Sprung representatives, who never took responsibility. Mistakes do happen and that is understandable, however outright lying and deception is inexcusable. If someone at Sprung had admitted the error immediately, it would have been far more acceptable. As a business who deals with death and grief, I cannot fathom how him and his employees can be so insensitive when dealing with someone who lost their husband. The added anxiety, depression and stress this has caused me is unconscionable and appalling and the fact they knowingly lied and caused this traumatic experience is even harder to tolerate. Adam Sprung and Sprung monuments is not a family oriented company. He should have taken complete control of the situation, and responded to my desperation. Instead I was ignored! In reality, I have no legal grounds for a lawsuit and their corporate lawyers would not let you admit to any wrongdoing. However, does acknowledging my painful experience an admission of wrong doing? A simple apology would have been sufficient. Instead I am giving him an unsatisfactory rating, speaking with a lawyer and sending this letter to YELP and GOOGLE with an unsatisfactory review. LK

It was my niece first time arranging a funeral service, and I must tell you, they did an excellent job. Mrs. Cheri, has a beautiful soul and her patience with all of the demands that my neice wanted to do went through without so much as a sigh from Mrs. Cheri. The Heritage Memorial Chapel does not feel or look like a funeral home, in fact, the uncaring, cold feeling of death (sorry for the harshness) was quite the opposite, it felt as I am sitting in my living room. By the way, there is this sofa and love seat that is so comfortable that I wanted to take it home with me. I will end this by saying if you are in need of funeral (I pray not) services, community meeting, small events, then this is the place talk too. Thank you once again Mrs. C.Wlliams-Pugh and Family
