It was our first time at Bury the Hatchet and we had a wonderful time! To start, they have you sign-in on easy to use tablets and wait until the rest of your group arrives. Once complete, Bri (our phenomenal Axe Master) brought us over to the cage where we would actually get to throw axes! She was super helpful with her instructions and made sure our whole group (strangers before the session) got to know each other! I have to admit, I was a bit nervous before I first threw an axe, but once I threw my first I just kept wanting to throw more! The session is actually a round robin, which gives everyone a fair to chance to move on in the tournament. Don't worry, the competition is friendly! Definitely bring your own food, drinks and cash for tip! Ask for Bri if you want your group or event to have a great time! They also have a mini refrigerators and an atm just in case.

This was truly a great time!! I've been wanting to try this for a while so when a friend decided to do this for her birthday I was more excited than she was lol Myself and three other ladies attended on a Sunday afternoon and our axemaster was very helpful. He was funny and did his best to stress the importance of safety in a non obnoxious way. The four of us were paired with a couple on a date which was unexpected but not awful. Next time however we will bring enough people so we can have a lane to ourselves. I was lucky enough to get a kill shot!! I came in second place out of the six of us. I was defeated by the guy on the date. Womp womp It's also BYOB & you can bring your own food so make a great night of it I'll definitely be back.

Had a great experience throwing at this location! It's a little hidden so make sure you use google maps to find the place. It wasn't packed when we went so we we're rushed to stop throwing. Definitely will return to throw some axes!

Ax throwing awesomeness!

Who knew throwing axes would be so much fun!? This was my 3rd time (at a different place each time) and this has been the best experience yet! The Axe Masters X and April were both a blast! Super encouraging and great with tips! Everyone was able to actually hit the target more than once with their help! I, personally have never done that well, but they taught me different ways to throw that helped immensely! I'm from Philly but they made it so much fun that I would gladly drive over to jersey just to go to this location! Friendly people win every time in my book. The atmosphere in the place was overall happy, the front desk people were very welcoming and you felt like it was a cool place to just chill.

This Place is Mad Fun i wanted to try something new my sister recommend Axe throwing, i must admit i was quite impressed. The staff was very friendly and the environment was cool, you also can B.Y.O.B which is cool. This place is good for date nights friend groups and couples i will definitely return here again the Staff was Friendly and very helpful when instructing us on the reals and how to throw axes. This place is a go to.

What a great time! In town for board meeting and we ended the day with hatching throwing! Josh, the Axe Master, was super cool fun and knowledgeable, offering tips a long the way. BYOB is a great plus. It is harder then it looks but you come out feeling like a professional. Can you make a kill shot?! One our teammates did!!

Really great interactive game for groups of different ages and skills. We got to bring our own food and drinks which made for a nice picnic experience. Our axe master Chris gave me the tips I needed to go from missing the board to making a bulls eye! Overall fun way to spend with friends and family while being active

Robin and Kate are awesome Axe masters. They kept us laughing and loving the whole time . If you come in make sure you request them because they definitely made our night memorable! This is awesome activity for a big group. BYOB was great, too. The staff were friendly and the intake process seamless.

Great fun throwing hatchets. BYOB and byofood. Minor disorganization when checking in, they try to fill lanes but nothing too crazy. Gets hot when it's crowded. Great staff helps you along the way the entire time.

Oh wow ! Is my awesome but lack of a better term. I went here on 8/5/18 and had the most amazing time. For many who are unaware .. the best way to explain it is like darts .. but with axe's ! The whole experience from entering had me so excited as I had purchased this trip initially through Groupon. I accidentally picked the wrong location but when I called and spoke to Ryan at the Bloomfield NJ location he was more that helpful to switch my location to Cherryhill NJ. We arrived for our scheduled time @230 .. getting there like right on time. I suggest you arrive 20 minutes prior to register which you can also do online. We were met by our hostess Sierra.. who was pleasant and full of liveliness when we approached the counter to check in during which time she explained to us something's about the experience and was amazing! She also was very informative on the next venture to Bury the hatchet. We were given our area which was number one whereas there were an additional 3 people assigned who were great along with myself and party of 3... as we waited for our instructor Axe Master Dan .. we threw back a couple of beers .. oh did I mention it BYOB and food !!! .. some will say .. hmmmm throwing axes and drinking .. it was done responsibly ! We were finally met by our instructor (Dan) who gave us the run down with the house and safety rules .. which he was also very informative as this was our first time. We then engaged in some practice throws .. which I admit I was horrible at but worked my way up to hit the target .. he took the time to work with each and everyone of us and with patience while keeping us laughing and entertained .. then it was on ! As we played and scored up ... I did come in first during the first round but got too happy during the semi finals and went for the kill shot ! And whomp whomp whomp ! lol ... we munched on warm buttered popcorn brought to us and other snacks that they provide and tossed a couple more back ! They have TV's around the lanes and some good tunes of music throughout to keep you jamming as well. This is a great place for family outings and couples to enjoy in the sport and have some good laughs. You are given wrist bands for those who are of drinking age so no one has to worry about underage drinking as they keep a close monitor which I love. They even offer refrigerators near your spot to keep your perishables cold. I would highly recommend this location if in the area as they also have other location just visit their website ! Thanks so much again to Dan and Sierra along with other staff members of Bury The Hatchet . I so look forward to the next outing and can't wait to wear my shirt that I purchased so people can ask me what is that!

Going to give a very honest review that reflects several other problems recent lower star reviews…read morehave also said they had. The BEST thing about this place is the staff. In fact we will probably come back here to do another room and we wouldn't bother if it had not been for how friendly the staff is, especially (but not exclusively) someone named Jack. Seriously, whomever owns/runs this place, take note: you need to give this man a raise, because without him and the other people working there, we would never come back. We did the horror/spooky themed room "The Estate" which is fairly high tech in many ways. Lots of really cool digital effects, in theory a very well designed room. Unfortunately our *very first* two puzzles did not function properly. One of the very first doors that is meant to spring open didn't do so; it popped open a crack but we couldn't pull it open easily and given the rules to never force things open, we didn't want to pull it HARD, which it turns out we should have. Also, after solving the very first puzzle, a door that was supposed to spring open did not do so. They have a rule that you cannot ask for a hint for the first ten minutes, so for ten minutes we milled around feeling stupid until we finally asked for a clue that literally spelled out how to solve the next major puzzle - and when we did, a door opened with a prop hidden inside that had *the way to solve the puzzle we just solved* written inside of it. So that was pretty damned frustrating. Certain other things were a bit off here and there, but the deisgn and concept were very immersive so ultimately we let it go and as a duo of only two we managed to finish with ten minutes left (but it would have been more if we hadn't wasted the first ten.) If this place could get it's sh*t together to not have broken puzzles/doors/portions, they'd probably avoid these negative reviews. My advice: come here, give it a try, but say to your gamemaster before you start "I have read some recent reviews saying that some puzzles and traps are having problems. Can you please be very attentive during our experience and make sure nothing goes wrong, and if it does, help to correct it quickly?"

For a person who have done multiple escape rooms, this would probably be my worst experience ever…read more Upon entering the building the staffs were all pleasant engaging which is why I am giving a 1 star. Overall, we escaped with lots of confusion and how things got activated. When asked, they stated that they were having lots of mechanical problems. When we asked for clues, not only did it take AWHILE for the clue, they also gave us clues that we already had solved. Very disappointed!

I didn't know what to expect when a friend bought us 4 hours as a try something new date night. We arrived and were welcomed by a super friendly staff. The place was incredibly cool filled with all sorts of activities such as giant Connect 4 and Jenga, checkers boards, original table games, and couches everywhere. We were assigned a "lane" which is basically a large room all to ourselves with hatchets, 2 target boards to throw at (or into), couches, chairs, and a coffee table. One of the staff members came over to us and gave us lessons on how to throw which wasn't as easy as we thought. The more you practice the better you'll get though and the staff member hung around for a while and assessed our throws and offered us tips. She was there whenever we needed assistance or had questions and even taught us some fun scoring games. Its also BYOB and BYO-food so we ordered in some sushi delivery and brought our own wine and beer. The staff brought our food right to us when it arrived at the front. We all can't wait to go back as this is just a fun place to go for something different. Try it. Even if you don't think ax throwing isn't for you there's plenty to do and you just might have a lot more fun than you expect. I sure did!

Very fun experience. Three axes you get to handle and throw for either a one hour or two hour…read moresession depending on which duration you pick. You have an S hook Axe (heaviest out of the three), Hatchet (Typical Axe), or the Tomahawk Axe. Close to the end of the session they bring out a Firemen Axe that you can attempt to throw at the target and is easiest the hardest to maneuver. In addition to the Axe throwing, they have a fun baskettball arcade two person competition game that you all should be familiar from the days of your childhood arcade days and many other fun games such as shuffle board, Jenga, darts etc. This is perfect if you have a large party and are waiting your turn to throw as you can play a fun game while you wait. When I think of Axe throwing I am reminded of the beginning of the movie, "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner. There is a scene where someone is trying to recruit him to take on the bodyguard job and he is leisurely lobbing an axe at a wooden stake trying to land a shot. I can now see the allure of such a skillful and cathartic experience. As always people SYOY!!!

I never knew…read morethis place existed as it's tucked away in business complex and I don't even remember if there was much signage (it was raining pretty hard and night time). The first great part is when we got out and my wife opened the trunk to reveal a packed cooler of beer! Now, I should note that while you are allowed to bring alcohol, you can't bring hard liquor and you cannot be visibly intoxicated or they will not admit you (probably a smart thing). We had to sign a waiver of course in the event we chopped a limb off (we didn't). And then we were taken back to our lanes. It was a Saturday night and most of the lanes were full, we had two towards the back. One of the employees walked everyone through how we should throw and gave a couple of pointers before everyone took their time to give it a shot. They had great music, it's a relaxed atmosphere and everyone working there was great. We had a phenomenal time and will definitely be returning!

You head to their website and make a reservation for a time, pay for said time and then take care of the required waivers that will be emailed to you. I supposed if you're coming on a slower day like Thursday, you could just show up without a reservation and take care everything once you get there. With that said, I made a reservation for an early Saturday night about an hour before showing up without issue. westecunkaxe.com/ Checking in at the front counter was very easy and before you know it, you're led to a bay to begin throwing. But, before you start throwing, they have several coaches who are all very nice-funny-gracious that take the time to make sure you know what you're doing so that you can get the most out of the experience. We had done axe throwing once prior at a place in Hershey and in comparison, the coaches here are more involved (in a good way) and that truly does make a difference. A few random notes: The place is small and when it's busy, things are very loud between all of the throwing. overhead music, laughing, etc. No problem hearing the lively vibe outside in the parking lot. Speaking of parking, there is a small lot that is shared with another business. When we showed up, there weren't many spaces left but we found one without issue. Would I recommend parking on the street somewhere close by? Caveat Emptor on that one. It is AC after all and the entire town always screams sketch. You pay for an hour of throwing/coaching time. We showed up a few minutes early so we lucked out into an extra 10 minutes that was very nice but by the time we left, the next group was definitely waiting for us to finish as it was a busy Saturday night. Overall this was a a lot of fun and now that we know it exists, I'm sure we'll be back in the near future.
