Special enough for our Sixth Form Leaving Prom/ Do/ Party - us dressed up to the nines in our Karen Millen or Jane Norman sparkly dresses and the boys in suits posing for photos on those steps... The room is pretty big - a really good size for a dancefloor for a couple of hundred people, with some dancing like loons on the stage. Another time I have been and there were lots of big round tables for groups as it was more of a dinner. The bar is at the far side and set in, to allow those bar flies to stay safe from all the dancing hordes. And the stage is big enough for a performance or two if that is what the night entails. Upstairs, there are a few other rooms - I remember one was used as a makeshift photographer's studio, another for the massive buffet in one case. The Elizabeth Suite is one of those gorgeous civic spaces: shabby but still fairly grand in its own way.

If there is any Irish in you, then you will love the Irish Heritage Centre. This pub is one of the…read moreliveliest pubs, and does very well out of its Irish heritage. It also consistently schedules a fantastic range of live music, from Irish folk bands, to more modern Indie style groups who perform a range of covers. I once ended up joining a group of drunken Irish - such memories. Definitely have a look in though - you never know what will happen.

Not too dissimilar to the aforementioned this place has a function room or events and is of the buffet restaurant variety. The food is of decent quality, much better than those student chinese buffet style scenarios (I know that's not saying much but still..) My personal fav were the chicken pakoras... not too oily and the meat was very tender and delicious. Not much else to say apart from the fact that there's ample parking space behind joint. Definitely place to go if you're starving and don't want to fork out more than £20 for a hearty filling meal.

This place is trying to be the upmarket place to be in Bolton. It tends to attract 'weekend…read moremillionaires' drinking Grey Goose etc. In fairness it is actually an ok bar if you look beyond those trying to show everyone how cool they are. It is a little out of place in the centre of Bolton and if you've been in more than once then you recognise the majority of people in there. If you're looking to go to an upmarket bar I would recommend Bolton Train Station just around the corner and get off in Manchester!

The music is very good banging out rnb on fridays and saturdays with ralph on friday and darren on saturday who are both really cool guys all the staff where legands if I do say myself but ive not been in for a while but im sure theyre still rocking it. For me I loved making my cocktails and had loads of regulars which is what that place is built on. Being the only top end city centre venue really it attracts boltons wealthy cool and stylish who come back week after week. Just love this place was my favorite job to date :)

There is an authentic rural feel here as the winding roads have restricted speeds and there are no street lights. The Well Barn courtyard is easily located off the main street and houses a diverse mix of shops including: a craft shop, a holistic therapy and well being store, Corinthian furniture and a plumbing company. The stableyard itself is often used s an event space for community gatherings such as the recent summer fete. It's a really beautiful area with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The Well Barn is easily accessed from Liverpool or Southport but retains the peace of the countryside.

Instead, it has enough cool places to keep you occupied for years but at the same time mean you can become a regular places with fomo. Plus, it still keeps surprising you. Manchester has some of the coolest event venues I've ever been to, such as Victoria Warehouse and the gorgeous Albert Hall. The Victorian Gothic Monastery perhaps out impresses even those venues. A Franciscan church and friary from the 1860s, it was formerly on the top 100 most endangered monuments in the world. Now beautifully restored, I entered through the lovely cloisters and was stunned entering the soaring nave, made even more striking with coloured lighting plus an aerialist display! I attended for a large work party of about 250 people. It's a really huge space so any less than this and it might feel a bit empty - imagine how big the weddings here are! We really enjoyed our salmon starter, which had a well-balanced lemon and caper dressing. The chicken supreme was standard but not dry at all and I thought good for a catered meal. The lemon tart for dessert was very nice, although too large portion for most If you're looking for somewhere really special to have an event, this has to be on your list.

They are available with first class service. I once performed here with my school for the mayor, and yes I was nervous but I kept getting lost as the place is soooo big. A map would be helpful! There is also a museum inside this gigantic building. It is the museum of the Manchester Regiment. They have many things on offer and lots of school kids go and have a wander and learn about what their grandad did etc. It is fun to go and look at all the history! The added bonus is that it is free to get in so HIGH FIVE! If you are thinking of having a wedding reception here.
