TL;DR - A little bit of the Northern Quarter, up north in Whitefield…read more Well this was a pleasant surprise. It's a pretty unassuming location, on a busy main road and nearly opposite a big supermarket but as soon as you step inside the Northern Crafthouse you could be in any part of the Northern Quarter. It's got that reclaimed/vintage vibe going with lots of exposed brickwork and wood - and some rather fabulous chairs which looked like old school chairs recovered in leather. The menu isn't going to win any healthy eating awards - burgers, tacos, hot dogs and burritos make up the majority. There's also a brunch menu which is served at the start of the day. Sparky went for the BBQ beef burger, I opted for the cajun chicken burger. Each came on an enamel plate with a gingham piece of grease proof paper - again, very on-trend for the NQ! We really enjoyed our food, although my burger was a little bit on the salty side. We also polished off a bowl of fries. The crowd was fairly mixed, ranging from 20 somethings out to cure a hangover through to families with children. There was a really nice vibe to the place and it makes a really welcome addition to this part of north Manchester, showing that Prestwich isn't the only place with cool hangouts!

Very impressed with my recent visit. Highly recommend the Fried Chicken Waffles - the peppercorn…read moresauce complimented it brilliantly. Short walk from Whitefield Metrolink makes it accessible from Bury and Manchester. Can see myself coming back for a few beers and wings very soon.

A 'proper' pub, in every sense. Bank Top is a great local brewery in Bolton and popping in to the…read morepub you get to taste some of their home brews which is fantastic. They have a huge range of beers, ranging from their own cask ales, to some rather interesting craft bottles which different fruity flavours. The last time I visited was over Christmas so they had 2 different types of hot cider on. I opted for the Mulled Cider and it was absolutely spot on after getting in from the nippy Bolton weather. Don't expect fancy decor and modern interior, Bank Top is a traditional Bolton pub and I personally think that makes it better. It's not a fancy Gastro-Pub, it's an old school boozer with top quality local beer!

The Brewery Tap is Bank Top's first pub and what an outrageously good place it is too…read more As the flagship ale-house for the brewers, it won't surprise you to find that the beer is uniformly excellent. There's a great mix of Bank Top's own ales, such as the firm favourite 'Flat Cap', as well as newer additions such as 'Gold Digger' (which has a very amusing tale behind it which should only be told by the patrons and bar staff of the pub) as well as some great guest ales. It is out of town, but definitely worth a visit - a taxi from Bolton town centre should cost around £4. When a pair of fine ales cost less than that, it is well worth going along. Bank Top is Bolton's local brewer and was set up in the '90s in an old (and very handsome) tennis pavillion. Trivia fans will be pleased to know that the first pint ever poured at the brewery was by Bill Tarmey who of course played Rover's Return landlord, Jack Duckworth. The pub itself is very homely and will look better when it ages slightly (it is still a bit neat, but that's a very very small gripe). There's also a decent sized beer garden which is great on balmy days. It really is a fantastic pub and well worth the trip.

The Bolton Albert Hall will always have a special place in my heart. I have so many memories from…read morehere! Being from Bolton originally, I have seen many shows here and danced in many shows here too! The cobbled crescent area around the Albert Hall and the large steps at the front, are some of Bolton's most recognisable features and are still looking lovely to this day. The theatre itself is lovely and the stage is a standard size (I remember almost falling off it as a dancer once, so it isn't as big as other stages I've performed on :/ ) My most recent visit here was just before Christmas at my annual Pantomime visit with all my friends. Just as much fun now as when I used to see them as a child. It's a good theatre - if you get chance to see something here, do!!

A decent theatre-venue for concerts, pantomimes, plays etc. It's part of the Town Hall building,…read moreand thus is located right in the middle of town -- which actually has its disadvantages as it's a bit of a walk from the nearest car park. (That said, there's a 'turning-circle' just outside the main entrance, so it's possible to drop someone off if necessary). The venue itself is a typically proud municipal building -- impressive architecture, marble floors and columns (I think!), that sort of thing. As such it may not offer the most modern facilities, but it certainly passes muster for what it is. The staff are very friendly, pointing you in the right direction (necessary as it's quite easy to get lost inside!) and generally being helpful. All in all, a good place to go for a night out.
