The entrance usually showcases the work of local society or group, which proves an interesting distraction as you enter up the small flight of steps. The library itself is spacious and full of light, with the books well ordered into distinct categories, with large sections of fiction and non-fiction factual texts. There is a copious library of audio-books and DVDs that can also be borrowed too. The internet access proves consistently popular, as do the daily newspapers and photocopying facilities. The library's upper section is totally devoted to children's books, which can be accessed by stairs or a glass lift. All in all, a great local resource.

The library has a very good selection of books set in a beautiful old building. They also loan out…read moreCDs and DVDs for a small fee. I often come here to get DVDs out. The collection isn't massive but you can still get fairly late releases at a much cheaper price than other commercial dvd hire places. There are also computers where you can access free internet. Staff are very friendly and helpful. You can reserve books online and order books from other libraries in derby and collect them at this library or another library of your choice.

Has an automatic door for disabled access and a lift for wheelchairs and prams. Has a brilliant children's section upstairs which caters for babies up to teenagers. Holds a story-time session for the under 5's on tuesdays and a cradle club for babies under 18 months, which is brilliant. Also runs bookstart passport scheme to encourage parents to share books with their babies and various challenges in conjunction with the council to encourage older children throughout the year. Has small car park outside.
