These folks are amazing. I called them to get urgent help for me door-eating dog, and they came…read moreover that same day to meet him. By the end of the week they had him on a schedule, walking 3 times a week for a half hour, to train him to walk on a leash. Once he can do that (which may take a while, he's hard-headed :)) he is going to go on adventure walks with them, which are basically long hikes with 2-3 dogs at a time, that completely tire your pooch out. I have two walkers that work with my dog, and they are both awesome. They send me an email after every walk, with pictures of my dog and a progress report of how he's doing. They also are bonded and insured, and offer to keep keys to the house so they can come in while you are at work and exercise the pooch. And get this- it's $20 for the walk... and $5 for every extra 15 mins! And that is for one or two dogs... very reasonable. So much so that I can definitely afford the 3 days a week walking, and seeing my puppy so happy at the end of the day is worth it. Love these guys.

UPDATE: 7/23/17: I'm…read morewriting an update to this review 7 years later, still as a loyal client of Canine Adventure. Unfortunately, my 3 boys (Ozzy, Tyler, and Bono) have since passed away, but my 2 new pups (Cannon and Hollywood) are still regular adventurers. They get to go hiking and swimming with Marti every couple of weeks - with Cannon generally finding some enormous stick or piece of trash to keep him entertained and Holly swimming laps in the river and playing chase with other dogs. They always come home happy and tired. There is a review posted from someone named "Matin" (which I assume is made up as it is a brand new account and contains false information) that says someone from Richmond Boxer Rescue steered him away from CA. I am the founder and president of RBR and a loyal client for almost 10 years now. Many of my fosters and volunteers use them and love them as well. NO ONE from my organization knows who this person is or said anything negative about CA, so that is a blatant lie. Review from 2010: I cannot say enough good things about Josh and Canine Adventure! Aside from actually being able to sometimes make my boxer, Ozzy, slightly tired (a nearly impossible feat), Josh was always reliable, responsible and ended up being a good friend! My own dogs (Ozzy, Tyler and Bono) were lucky to get Adventure Walks with him every week! The highlight of their week was seeing Josh pull up in front of the house! In addition to working with my own dogs, Josh graciously worked with my many fosters through Richmond Boxer Rescue. He donates his time to several other local rescue groups as well. The walks and training were an invaluable asset to the foster dogs as were the AMAZING photos he would take on the walks! We moved to the west coast but would still be loyal clients if we were in Richmond! I so wish there were a service like this available here!

I cannot say enough good things about this grooming spot. The facility is always extremely clean,…read moreparking around the location is easy, and every single experience I've had here has been wonderful. The staff, the groomers, and even the other customers are always friendly -- and it truly says a lot that all the pets who come here seem just as happy and well-mannered. The groomers here are contracted out, and the groomer I personally use is Mya -- and she is absolutely amazing. She is one of the only people I fully trust with my dogs. She is kind, patient, reasonably priced, flexible with scheduling, and genuinely cares about both the pets and their owners. I have two pit bulls, and anyone with this breed knows how difficult it can be to find a groomer who is both willing to take them -- let alone take both dogs on the same day. Mya not only accommodates both of my dogs together, but she also goes above and beyond to meet their individual needs. One of my dogs is not a fan of large crowds, and Mya is incredibly understanding and accommodating by scheduling us for the very first appointment of the day before anyone else arrives. That level of consideration means everything to me. What I also love is that while one of my dogs is being groomed, my other dog gets to play with Mya's little dog that she brings with her -- and they absolutely adore each other. It makes the entire experience feel calm, personal, and stress-free. One of my dogs is older, and I truly appreciate that one of the tubs has steps so he doesn't have to be lifted or jump in. That extra thoughtfulness makes a huge difference for senior pets. Another great perk is that they offer a self-wash option where you can bathe your dog yourself using their products or bring your own. It's such a convenient option to have. Overall, this grooming spot is welcoming, clean, inclusive, and filled with people who genuinely care about animals. If you're looking for a groomer who treats your pets with patience, respect, and love -- especially if you have larger breeds or dogs with special needs -- I cannot recommend Mya and this facility enough.

Petnificent did a kind and gentle but thorough job. So glad they were there cos I just wasn't gonna do this -- I have the scars from trying to "help" previous pet cats. Reasonable prices, kept the appointment time and finished the job in about an hour. Nice people.

My daughter dropped off her dog in the morning. From the start he was not very comfortable, and…read moreshe said she didn't get a good vibe from the place, but was recommended it so she left him there. He has been groomed at PetSmart several times before, but she felt that they didn't do a good enough job with his double coat shedding. She was recommended this place. They upset him so much he got diarrhea, and when they called me the lady on the phone was exceptionally snarky about when I was taking him home because they had to give him another bath. When we got there she politely (cough, cough) reminded me again that he soiled himself at least three more times and never once said how he did otherwise, unlike the previous times where they said he was an absolute angle to groom. He wanted nothing more to do with that place and was shoving his nose through the cage slats whining to get free. When she opened the door he slinked back into the cage and when she backed off he tried to lung forward to escape his prison. This went on for several times when he finally had enough and burst past her to try to get to us through the kiddie gate. She had his harness and attempted to put it on to no avail since he wanted nothing to do with her at all. I took the harness and was easily able to get it on him despite her being right beside him. She then tried to put the bandana on him and wasn't having any luck with that either. I tried to take it so I could get it on him without traumatized further, and she scratched me several times because she was being so rough with him. He definitely did not like this person and ran out the door with my husband the moment she opened the kiddie gate. He was very traumatized by his experience, and has NEVER acted this way with his numerous visits to the PetSmart groomers. My daughter got the deshedder package and it was like they didn't even do anything to him. There's more hair in the car after being deshedded than there was before he went. The receptionist should never be allowed to rough up a dog so bad that they're willing to burst out of the front door in a panic. We will never go here again, because dogs just know bad people.
