Been reading about this Michelin rated Burrito place for a while so I was STOKED that I finally got to give it a go! I love the simplicity of the menu items, why make it complicated? Meat, tortillas, YES. Tried the Birria, Chicarron and Chicken Tinga Burritos then also tried out their unique take on a quesadilla with Quince jam and butter. Quality over quantity is clearly at work here folks; the small menu is by design and it's apparent in their flavors, absolutely delicious stuff!
Solid and unique burrito spot! I got to try three of their burritos (you will need to order at least 2 to feel content and 3 to feel full-they are long but skinny). I tried their Birria, Contado (Birria with bean and cheese), and the Deshabrada (beef with potato). Out of those three the Contado was the best! The Birria sauce/flavor is on point and the bean and cheese really balance it out l! The Birria burrito by itself was also good, but get the one with bean and cheese! The deshabrada was a little bit of a letdown, the beef and potato was a little bland... Overall, really enjoyed the burritos, will be back to enjoy other flavors !
Delicious I went here because I saw it on TikTok and Instagram. Let me tell you this place is totally a must. The service was fantastic. When we walked in we were greeted with smiles. The lobby was clean. The restrooms were clean. They took our order. We didn't have to wait long for our food when we received it. It was hot. It was perfect. The combination of their beans and cheese and the tortillas are totally. it taste homemade plus they offer frozen burritos if you want to take that home and give this place thumbs up it's on the corner of Baker and Fairview in that shopping plaza
One visit in a few weeks back and I've been here probably 8 times since. Nothing truly compares to Burritos La Palma. The tortillas are absolutely incredible, but the fillings go crazy. My top 2 favorites (after trying a new one yesterday) include the Birria (add cheese) and the Deshebrada! I love how quick and easy BLP is, the team is incredible, and I love being able to show up hungry and be ready to dig in minutes later. There's lots of tables inside, but super easy to take to-go as well!
Was looking for a lunch spot and wanted Mexican food, Burritos La Palma looked good, so wanted to give them a shot. They have burritos, tortas and nachos, I believe that is it. They don't even have rice here, so pretty specific. Unique thing here is their burritos are on the smaller side, but priced accordingly, at only $4.95 (as of May 2026) so you can try a few different ones and not break the bank. Good concept and popular from the reviews. Different from the monster burrito places out there. I have to say, I have had better Mexican food, but it was pretty good overall. I liked their house salsa, good flavor, though on the mild side. I got a beef Birria and a tings chicken burrito. The beef I liked a lot, the chicken, I had mixed feelings about, it was good, but had a specific taste I could not pinpoint, but not my favorite. I also got the combo, which came with the 2 burritos, beans and a salad. The salad was plain, they do not have dressing, again, not bad, but for $15.50, I would have rather had another burrito to try vs a plain salad and beans, and would have spent less. Oh well, nice to try new things. The people there were very nice though, friendly and came around a few times to check on us. Inside was very clean, open seating and bright, lots of awards on the wall, which they earned, I just got the wrong order IMO. I would give them another shot, this time try some other flavors of burritos though. I think they have 6 styles to choose from. Enjoy!
Service was exceptionally nice. I forgot my receipt the other day and needed it for work and they knew exactly how to retrieve it for me the next day. Food came out fast. Their tortillas are amazing. Out of the three I got, honestly the plain bean and cheese was my favorite. My friend got three and his favorite was the everything burrito. When I got the one that was just meat, it had too much juice in it and I think having some bean and cheese would have done the trick. I'll get the everything next time! Food came out quick, and the space is clean. Plenty of parking in the parking lot.
The tortillas here are just perfect. My favs are the bean and cheese and the birria with beans. My only complaint is that I wish they had more salsa varieties!
Burritos La Palma is a Michelin Bib Gourmand Recommendation as an inexpensive spot for good food. Their burritos run for about $5/each and they say that they recommend 2-3 burritos per person. The burritos are fun-sized, and the star of their show is their flour tortillas that are filled with your ingredients of choice. I think the frijoles con queso (bean and cheese) are the best complement to the perfect flour tortilla; however, if you get their "con todo", it has the bean and cheese with their birria meat. This was my favorite flavor combo. We also ordered their chicken tinga, which had contrasting bites of chicken, bite sized potato, and chipotle pepper. Got the chicharron burrito; however, I'd only recommend it to you if you like the texture of a chewy chicharron, which is not what I enjoy. While the burritos are smaller and you may need a few to fill you up, I do like the ratio of tortilla to filling. The lighter burritos make it easier to appreciate their great tortillas. Salsas are thin and watery with some jalapeno flavor. The burritos were also served with a side of raw jalapeno, which was fine. Overall, I think this is a great spot for an inexpensive meal (unless you need 5-6 of them to get your fill). I'd definitely come back if I was in the area; however, I do have other options closer to me in Long Beach (Sonoratown, Joliza's tacos) that may fill the craving.
Good price good service and overall good food. The meats were juicy - it was clean and someone checked in on us multiple times. My only comment would be I wish they had other sauces. They were very sweet and accommodating overall I'd highly recommend.

The burritos were amazing, especially the burial burrito, and I'd come back just for that. However, I was disappointed after being told the combo included a salad and beans, only to receive a small side of iceberg lettuce with one tomato. The "side salad" felt very underwhelming compared to what was expected. SKIP THE COMBO. Thank me later :)
Happen to be next to the plaza where Burritos La Palma and I was craving a burrito so it was meant-to-be! It was just before noon and we were the 2nd in line but wow...there was a line out the door when we finished ordering. We ordered the following: 01. Quesadilla Con Carne $6.75 - 4 Stars - Ordered this to-go so I didn't get a photo of it. I was told it was really good. 02. Chips & Salsa $3.50 - 4 Stars - You get a different salsa than the salsa for their burritos. It's a red salsa. A good amount of chips too but I didn't get a photo of it. 03. 2-Frijol Con Queso $4.95 - 5 Stars - The beans were seasoned well and the cheese was melty. No wonder it's a fan favorite. Their flour tortillas were so soft and warm, tasted very fresh. 04. Birria $4.95 - 3.5 Stars - The flavor was good, not too robust like other Birrias. I wished they would put the Birria Consommé on the side so the tortillas wouldn't get soggy. If you dine in, the tortillas will hold up but if you take it to-go, it does get a bit too soggy. 05. Chicharron $4.95 - 2 Stars - The one we didn't like. When I think of Chicharron, I think crispy Pork Skin. Theirs was super soft, more like soggy in texture. It wasn't good, the texture made it worse. The menu says it is spicy but it wasn't at all. I prefer the pork skin to be crispy. It's just my preference. I wouldn't order this again. 06. Deshebrada $4.95 - 4 Stars - One of our fave out of the 6 Burrito options. It had the most flavor and wasn't too drenched with the sauce. We loved the Green Chile and Potato combo with the Shredded Beef. PARKING - Located in the same plaza with CVS Pharmacy and tucked in the corner. There's plenty of parking, it's a busy plaza so just watch for drivers not looking. CUSTOMER SERVICE - Staff were all so friendly. Service was fairly quick. FOODS - Their Flour Tortillas are 10/10 for us. The Burritos are skinny and small about the length of your hand (normal size hands not small hands). The Flavors of the meats is not robust or charred, think of "Crock Pot", "Slow Cooked" style. That is what came to our minds as we were eating them. They are good but not a "WOW" factor for your tastebuds. Our FAVE is the Frijol Con Queso (Bean/Cheese) and the Deshebrada (Shredded Beef). Their salsa is on the watery side but decent. The flavor was not spicy at all, more mild-medium spicy level. When you order Chips and Salsa, it's a thicker Salsa. I don't know if you could swap out the watery one for the thicker one. Will ask next time. VERDICT - I would come back to get the Frijol Con Queso and the Deshebrada burritos. It's a decent burrito, just tell yourself not to expect a big burrito so you're not in shock. Yes, they are small but tasty. Yes they are different than most burritos but good. Did you know they hold the Michelin Award 5 Years in a row? Pretty impressive for a simple concept.
To start off this review I would say the burritos are good for the price. Now for the reason for my rating... I always place a phone order at this location for my work's lunch because I have hangry people waiting on me to bring their lunch and time is money. Placed an order today, came and paid and headed back. When I got back to work, I was like what the hellie, I'm missing a burrito and then the NEXT thing I noticed is that the order was wrong. I ordered 3 birria and got 3 deshebrada instead. The other two were correct. So now someone at my office ain't going to have a burrito nor the one they wanted. Luckily the hangry people were flexible but I'm still short a burrito. This location tends to make mistakes with the orders and I haven't wrote a review or complained, until today. I shouldn't have to check that my order is correct because it should already be. So, I called them and told them the situation. They wanted me to come back to get the 3 birria burritos but I wasn't about to drive all the way back there. Plus my boss was not happy with what happened. So I asked if they can refund me a burrito. Hopefully, they will. So lesson is check your orders before leaving the store.

As someone originally from Mexico, finding truly authentic burritos can be a challenge. Most Americanized burritos toss everything under the sun into one giant tortilla--that's just not how authentic Mexican burritos work! This was my first time visiting Burrito La Palma, and I was completely blown away. They specialize in traditional Zacatecas-style burritos, which might be a bit different than what the average person is used to, but it's as authentic as it gets. I really appreciate BLP staying true to tradition. The burritos are fantastic, and the salsa is packed with flavor--it pairs perfectly with the serrano peppers for that extra kick! The restaurant itself is clean and welcoming friendly staff. While it's a bit on the pricier side in my opinion, the quality and authenticity make every penny worth it. A small local joint with a small menu. The place itself is small but very clean. The menu is very small and limited. The burritos are TINY. If I get 3 of them then it will equal to a small normal size burrito. We tried two different types and it was absolutely fabulous! It was just tiny Tortas - they were amazing! This is definitely worth to getting. The combination of flavor with the pork and burnt cheese is amazing. It's a great size so definitely try this one. Nachos. I wish it had all the fixings like guacamole and etc but it had beans, choice of meat, and crème. Also there is a piece of giant tortilla on the bottom to gather all the juices. We're returned several times because we love their burritos and especially the tortillas. But there just too many negatives at this place. They're very friendly and helpful. But unlike many other Mexican food places, these guys don't offer a salsa bar and if you ask for a small cup of salsa they charge you 81 cents. And the salsa both green and red is just watery colored water with no taste. I have eaten at many Mexican restaurants but I have never seen anyone who insists that watery colored water is salsa....salsa is either red or green is thick and heavy with cut tomatoes and peppers. But these folks have a different idea and 81 cents for a small cup of juice without a real tomato or pepper is just wrong. I ordered a side of beans and their beans are very good as is their tortillas but we ordered a bean and cheese burrito with extra cheese and extra salsa and got a bean and cheese burrito with neither of those. They don't really do items to order. And this business is automated beyond any other small shop....they have a screen that shows your order as you give it to them and a pager you take back to your table that tells you when to come to the counter to pickup your food. And it's expensive. $7 for a tiny burrito and you have to get three of them to make a meal so $21 plus if you want a side of beans you're going to pay for that and I don't see rice anywhere. Seems like they focus on chicken and barria and those are good but expensive. It's an upscale Michelin Star restaurant masquerading as a small neighborhood Mexican place with high prices. First time here! The burritos were small and good. Especially great for under $5 if you have a small enough appetite for just one!! The beef birria was yum!! I didn't love the salsa but could tell it still tasted fresh, it just needed a little somethin somethin! read more
If you're looking for a birria burrito, look no further. I highly recommend that you get there. Combo burrito. Their refried beans are amazing. This is a nice little restaurant. Pretty cozy, but it still feels that it has ample space. They don't have the table super close together and there is also seating outside. I happen to try most of the burritos, the one that I recommend is the birria burrito. The other burritos are solid as well, but I felt like they could use a bit more. Now this is coming from someone whose mom is known to be the best cook in the family. So maybe I'm judging them to my standards or to my mom standards, which I know is not fair, but you can't go wrong with anything you get here. I will definitely be back if I'm in the area. read more

Good new addition to the Costa Mesa area but be warned that it is different from the other taquerias in the area. Here's what you need to know: 1. Smaller burritos but the 2-3 options are filling 2. Normally, I'm a huge chicharron person but it was a little on the fatty side (so much so I couldn't fully enjoy it) 3. The salsa on the side is quite mild 4. Jalapeños are provided 5. Mexican soda options as well 6. Indoor seats available 7. Quick service It's worth trying at least one to see if it's your cup of tea. The con todo was probably the overall favorite. read more

I ordered two burritos which was just about right. Their tortillas are nice and soft. The birria was filled with delicious meat, while the tinga is a little on the spicy side. Their salsa is not my favorite - a little on the watery side but adds a little extra something. I'm somewhere between four and five stars but the service here deserves five stars. I stopped by for a quick bite and ordered the bean and cheese, birria, and deshebrada burritos. The handmade flour tortillas were soft, chewy, and perfect. The birria and deshebrada were full of flavor, and the bean and cheese was good as well. I ordered way too much, I thought that the burritos were smaller, but I managed to eat a good amount. I would say two is very filling! One thing to note, my friend is pescatarian and couldn't try the salsa since it has meat in it. It would be great if they offered a vegetarian-friendly salsa option so everyone could enjoy. Other than that, the service was quick, the spot was clean, and I'd definitely come back. read more
Come here on a Saturday afternoon while it was busy but it was easy to find seating and the food came out fast. We ordered a birria quesadilla, a birria and deshebrada burrito. The burrito's were so yummy! I loved the tortillas and the birria but the deshebrada was my favorite! I loved the salsa they serve on the side as well. Perfect addition to enhance but not overpowering. The quesadilla was good but so wet that it got everything soggy. Clean restaurant and friendly staff. read more

Tortilla are still awarding winning grade. It holds the filling with juice very well. Torta is exceptionally well prepared with pickled jalapenos, molten cheese, and avocado. Burritos are juicy and delicious. read more

Bean and cheese burritos are such comfort food for me, but this is not that comforting :/ Tortilla helped, filling needs more flavor =============== Friendly and quick service $10ish for two small burritos, good for a snack unless you're sharing The tortilla is my fav since it was flakey when grilled, but it may be as good or a little better than the popular Mexican supermarket on harbor for less quantity. The insides of the burritos are kinda whatever which is sad cuz the menu is small, so you'd think everything yummy, but alas. Bean and cheese needed more flavor, either in salt content or cheese or bean lol Chicken tinga was less smokey and more watery with minimal potato. Simple food, extraordinary flavor! La Palma never disappoints. This isn't a sit-down or table service spot--just walk up, order, and enjoy--but the experience is still full of heart. The counter clerk provided excellent service, and we appreciated how the cooks, who are in plain sight, were quick, attentive, and genuinely kind. The staff greeted us with a "Buenos Dias " and wished us well after our meal ... small touches that go a long way. We were pleasantly surprised to find this clean, quite and spacious location open at 10am (unlike the Santa Ana one that opens at 11), which meant we could satisfy our burrito craving even earlier. As a Mexican who has grown up around tortillas and beans (both homemade and from restaurants) I can say these are beyond delicious. It takes the perfect tortilla, beans, and cheese to hit the mark, and La Palma absolutely nails it. Their burritos are always hot, never greasy, and seriously addicting. I'm a small eater now, so 1.5 is my max (lol), but if you've got the appetite, I highly recommend trying every single one on the menu. Delicious! Literally dreaming about the chicken burrito here right now! If they were open late I would be there right now enjoying every bit of it! Small but perfect sized burritos I get 2 and that's the perfect amount!! Menu is super straight to the point when I used to eat beef I died for their beef burritos but ever since I stopped eating beef I'm obsessed with their chicken and they are just so good so perfect and so authentic. I can't wait to get one for lunch tomorrow! Also they have a freezer section of frozen burritos so you can take to a family gathering or just for yourself to keep in your freezer! This is a good little burrito spot. The burritos are actually a little longer than the photos seem to portray. I thought they'd be smaller than they came out. Two filled me up. We tried the birria (had the most meat), chicken tinga (tasted good with the papa), and the frijol con queso. My favorite was honestly the bean and cheese. Reminds me of my great grandma's burritos. Very homey tasting and just.. good. I like how they check in when you're eating there to see if you need additional salsa or anything. Great service. Nice prices. read more
