I'm originally from California, so I'm always on the hunt for some authentic Mexican street tacos. We decided to stop in for lunch to give this place a try and I'm really glad we did because they did not disappoint. We ordered several tacos and everything was flavorful, tender, and satisfying. Even their sauces were on point. You know a taco joint is legit when they serve not so usual taco meats, like lengua (beef tongue) and cabeza (beef cheeks). The dining atmosphere and service is very casual. They have their own parking lot, but it's a little awkward to get in. Keep in mind they close earlier than most restaurants (by like 6 or 7pm) and are closed on Sundays. I'll definitely be back for the tacos. read more

This is the taste of authentic street tacos we've been searching for since we moved to the area two months ago from Milwaukee. I was too busy talking to the manager to take pics. I admit we ate too fast. It's was great. We'll be back at least every two weeks! I had 2 Lengua and 1 beef cheek tacos. Hubs had 1 steak, 1 pork and 1 chorizo taco. We shared a steak quesadilla that was full of cheese and steak! So good. The corn tortillas are so soft and light, I wonder if they are made in-house. Can't wait to return. read more

I'm going to have to say, thank goodness for finding this place after seeing it so many years ago. About 10 years ago my wife and I deployed out of Fort McCoy WI and these guys were established as a food truck on base, now they have their own fixed location here in Sparta. Food is STILL amazing, the only problem is that since they have moved here, there is no longer a food truck service which means Soldiers of today do not even know they exist in the McCoy area. A bit of advice, while I do like having this as a secret, Guys if you bring the food truck for about 2 days a week and give out cards to your location you can bring in more business. read more

Small little Mexican food joint with a lot of heart! Went here for the first time recently after passing it everyday and let me tell you I was not disappointed! My burrito was delicious. Nothing too fancy, just a solid burrito. I have heard their tacos are great as well, but I have yet to test them out myself. Found this place while looking for a quick bite in between meetings. It's in a corridor with about 3 other Mexican restaraunts within a few blocks, and while the parking lot is kinda small it's really no worse than any of the others (where it looks like college students eat up all the spots). The inside is pretty spartan, but you won't be staying long - these dudes can whip up a burrito and tacos in minutes, cooked to order. And the food was tasty, with three different sauces to switch up while you eat. I dug it, and to go start-to-finish in 10 minutes for 10 bucks including a Jarritos totally hit the spot. Nothing about the experience was mind blowing, but the food was good, the prices were reasonable and the service was very fast. I would choose this over fast food anytime I'm in LaCrosse. read more

Seriously the best Mexican food in town. And none of that Tex Mex crap, these guys are the real deal, real authentic Mexican. Reminds me of the little Mexican stops in California that have the cheapest foods but the BEST tasting. They have a limited menu, which is great. Not too much to decide on, just meat, style and toppings. Place is clean, always well kept. Service is great, fast, and kind. There are multiple tables and booths. The one door is handicap accessible with a ramp ledge. I would recommend this to anyone in town. They do take cash and cards. One thing is, parking is limited but that's just due to location. First off we agree with what others have posted regarding the authenticity of the food here. We ordered the AlPastor, the Asada, and the Chorizo tacos. We ordered extra meat and the tacos were loaded. They came with two sauces: the green was a tomatillo sauce and was refreshing. The red sauce was a spicy Chile sauce that added a nice amount of heat The reason we selected Burrito House for lunch was because of their high safety rating :98/100. There were other places in La Crosse that had the same nimrod stars in their rating, but had up to 9 health and safety violations. Stopped in while visiting La Crosse. Walked in and was delighted to see you literally only had four options of main courses to choose from with about six different options of meat you could include in your dish. This may seem like a small detail but in a world filled with fifty different options at restaurants, my indecisive self rejoiced at the options. It also indicated to me that they were probably solid at what they offer. Started with three tacos, el pastor, pollo and chorizo. All the meats were delectably cooked and had tons of flavor. Loved it. My partner and I decided after eating our tacos we instantly needed more, not really because we were hungry but because we were not sure when we would be in town again. We split an el pastor torta and it was one of the best tortas I have ever had, and I love me some tortas. Cheese was kind of melty and creamy, avocado and tomatoes were fresh and the bread was perfectly toasty. Only wish I lived closer. read more

Finding authentic Mexican food in La Crosse after moving from CA was challenging. Burritos House is it. Everything on the menu is delicious. I prefer the asada, al pastor and chorizo, though. This is an authentic taqueria, so if you are looking for americanized mexican, this is not it. I love this little place. It is very unassuming on the outside (as it should be), Finally, I decided to stop one day for lunch. It was love at first bite. Like the other reviewers mentioned they only serve tacos, burrios, tortas (sandwiches), and quesadillas. Meat, cilantro, onion, corn tortilla - the way it should be. I love the vegetarian and shredded pork tacos. The husband loves the chicken burritos. The salsa verde is very fresh, love it. And they serve the old fashion coke/pepsi in the glass bottle as well as different mexican sodas - try the grapefruit one. Please people, I want you to eat here, so I can eat here for years to come.
