This place use to be so good but has really dropped off. The owner was always at the Portage Ave site and he was great to deal with. Now the staff limits the items for the burritos. I went there twice to give them a chance but they blew it. The meat is VERY limited compared to what it was. I get that they weigh it, but obviously the amount allowed has dropped. They skimp on toppings. Time to try new mexican restaurants. It is too bad because the owner was awesom. read more

I understand that, due to rising costs, it is very difficult for restaurants to keep their doors open. They have one of two options: 1. Raise prices 2. Reduce portions. It is unavoidable, if a restaurant wants to remain in business, they need to do one or the other. In order to ensure that we're still getting a reasonable amount of protein in our meals at Burrito Splendido we started paying for "double meat", but they've reduced their portions so much that even paying an additional $3.50 gets you practically no protein. It's gotten to the point where they're clearly taking advantage of their customers. We will no longer be supporting Burrito Splendido, which is a real shame because we ate there 2-3 times a week for years because we really appreciate that they use all locally sourced ingredients. I tried to include a picture of a beef quesadillas with "double meat"., but it unfortunately won't upload because. To give you an idea, each triangle of quesedilla had no more than five small shreds of beef. read more

Best around for this type of food shop. I like everything I've tried. Close to close I would stick with ground meat options as the rest tends to get a bit dry. But love this place read more

Burrito splendido is a great place to eat, i usually get the adobo chicken burrito and its been amazing every time. Would give five stars but the serving size is not great. When you order online they dont follow your instructions with extra stuff they do as little as possible. Always go in person if you want your food loaded and not some small kid sized burrito, even when im there in person some of them aren't that nice and try not to load up on burrito toppings. I was there getting burritos last week for cinco de Mayo and i asked the lady making it if she could add extra rice and she said " uhm only if it'll fit in the burrito" and she said it in a rude tone and when she added more rice she added about half a tablespoon and there was tons of extra room in the burrito. other than that one experience its been pretty okay and i will go there again! The restaurant is very nice and there usually isn't anybody in there (usually one table occupied) since everyone does takeout. overall my rating is pretty good they just need to load up on toppings more and i dont mean to be rude but before covid happened there was a lot of mexican's and american's working there and the burritos were so loaded they could barely close them, now all the east indian people are working there and they never put that much topping on. Sorry if that offends anyone i dont mean to im just being honest on what ive noticed in the last couple of years. read more

I have eaten there a few times, always enjoyed their burritos. Ingredients are fresh and the prices very reasonable.Recommended!

I was impressed considering that I didn't really expect much from a franchise burrito joint. But to tell you the truth I found the taste and quality of my Barbacoa burrito to be comparable to burritos I've tasted at authentic Mexican joints in places like San Francisco. This place works just like Subway but in the end you get a much tastier meal. I should note that the waitress at this location, short with dark hair, was awesome. She was helpful and very nice. She deserves a raise. read more

Burrito Splendido - a restaurant counter with a man in the background - Mexican Near Me - Winnipeg, Manitoba

I've visited Burrito Spledido quite a few times and I've almost always been impressed. It's a great option for quick food that's relatively healthy and a perfect alternative to McDonald's if you're on the way home from work. I've only had chicken burritos and they consistently (they weigh it out) give a decent amount of chicken and a good helping of the other toppings. Although for the price, a little bit more chicken would be nice. The tortillas (that are made in store) are a nice touch and have a great texture and taste good. When the burrito is done, they place it into a panini like press to lightly toast it and seal it closed. In general I've been quite happy with Burrito Splendido except for two occasions where there were chicken bones in the burrito (the first time I went back and they provided coupons as compensation). It would also be nice if they mixed the fillings together before wrapping the burrito since when I've gone I usually end up with a burrito where one bite is chicken and the other bite lettuce, rice and other things. read more

I'm from Texas and always have a hard time finding Mexican food in Canada, but this place is amazing! Tortillas remind me of the authentic places back home. I'll be back for sure! read more

Burrito Splendido - Be sure to get the queso fresco which is made in house! - Mexican Near Me - Winnipeg, Manitoba

I love this restaurant! Fresh made wraps for super packed burrito. Great take away option. Fresh ingredients, and big portions, these burritos are huge! read more

Had lunch here today and was very tasty. They had a special item added for today only...chorizo sausage. I ordered the Large and one thing I really thought was neat and different was that they freshly pressed your tortilla then flat top grilled it. The portions were great and super fresh, also the prices were similar to Chipotle and Mucho Burrito. I would rank this spot between Mucho and Chipotle for the taste and quality of the Burrito. I usually eat larger lunches and smaller dinners so I had the Large but the regular size would have been plenty. read more

Unreal burritos. I'm from Brandon and I'm in Winnipeg for business all the time. Burrito Splendido on the way out every time. Come back from the airport, Burrito Splendido. It's that good. My only complaint is that sometimes I want a burrito before 11am, ya know? I highly recommend getting the double chocolate cookies with chillis. Funky little dessert! read more

I initially called and was greeted well and asked to come in to place my order than having it done over the phone. I saw Splendido as a nearby restaurant and said "yup I'm having burritos". I ordered the chorizo burrito and the best part was the mexi-slaw and mango chipotle salsa. Such distinct flavors and the service was amazing although the place was quite empty. Worth it!! read more

Burrito Splendido - Chorizo burrito is soo good with the slaw - Mexican Near Me - Winnipeg, Manitoba

Of all the burrito places in Winnipeg, this one has the most flavour! Their naked burritos (burritos in bowl aka salads) are super. The carnitas (pork) meat is the best. read more

I enjoyed my first burrito, it was fresh and it was served to very fast. I loved the quality of service I received. I would recommend this place to all my friends! Can't wait to go again!! read more

After a hard day of shopping was in the mood for Mexican take out. Tried the Adobe chicken salad - pretty good but not sure I would order that one again. Order the extra guacamole - it was meh. Will come again, would order the salad again just with different "topping". Fast service - I was in and on my way quite quickly. read more

honestly so delicious. we order from here all the time and they never disappoint. the local tortillas are incredible, their salsas and sauces are amazing, their portions are generous. could literally eat here every day. 10/10 would recommend read more

Always fantastic food here. I go for the Adobo Chicken Burrito, add some tasty veggies (everything is local) and salsa. Staff are always super friendly when I'm in and it's licensed so you can grab a beer (imports, I don't think I've seen any domestic) with your meal. Very enjoyable experience. read more

Love eating here! The portions are massive (burritos and salads in particular) so it's definitely worth the price.

My burrito was decent enough, but the prices are pretty high for what you get (I see more and more of "counter-service" restaurants with full service prices) and the wait for my food was pretty long despite there only being one other customer in the restaurant at the time. read more

Finally a burrito place That is doing it right they make all of their tortillas fresh when you order them hot on the grill. The meat is nice and tender and it's not sopping wet like other burrito places. They have lots of variety of fresh vegetables salsas and completely customize what you want. The staff was extremely friendly. read more

This place has great burritos and the staff are just a delight. I always get the pork burrito on whole wheat, and I've yet to be disappointed. Its fresh food, assembled quickly, and I can't recommend it enough. Beware the large burrito is a significant meal, so watch out if you're looking for a light lunch or something. read more

It's good - not authentic at all, and more 'fast-food Mexican'... The food is very good tex-mex, and likely what most people think of when they think 'Mexican'. Not bad, for what it is. read more

Every time I get a text about promos I want to eat here. I love love love the tofu it is actually amazing. The coleslaw that they add into the burritos is so yummy! I like that you can sit down and have a glass of wine after a long day. read more

Honestly I don't understand how this place is still in business given the quality of the ingredients they use. The queso looks like vomit and tastes strange. Also, the "fresh ingredients" aren't actually fresh. Been 2 or 3 times and both times were a huge disappointment. The reviews where 4 or 5 stars given is either: bogus accounts creating fake reviews to boost ratings or people who've never actually had Mexican food from SoCal or Mexico. read more

Decided to try it out the other day. Tasted great, portions were good as well. Nice to see they carry a variety of drinks, namely the fountain drink machine, nothing beats having refills. read more

I love Burrito Splendido. I move to the area about 3 years ago, and there was nothing around here except the standard fast food chains. When Burrito Splendido opened up, I knew I had found my new go to. You get to create your own Mexican dish masterpiece with the freshest of ingredients. I love the salsa options, and the mexi slaw is a perfect add on. AND who doesn't like fresh cilantro, lime and homemade guac!?! Options are endelss, and delicious! read more

This location is good, but I wanted to mention that our experience at the Transcona location leaves much to be desired. Cleanliness, customer service and operations needs drastic improvement. I understand this is not a franchise, but consistency in operation of units is obviously not being monitored close enough. read more
