There are only so many gluten free delivery options in this city so I ordered from here again despite it being disappointing and this will be my last time. The pork was one solid chunk on the top of the bowl and wasn't "pulled" and cooked properly. the vegetables were watery. I should have thrown it out when it tasted off but someone bought it for me so I ate it anyway and now i'm sick. Absolutely disgusting! read more

I used to love Burrito Jax including this location. But it's gone so far down hill. The chicken is BONE DRY and the consistency of year old jerky. It's inedible. The sour cream is watered down. And the smashed beans are disgusting most of the time. They keep it in a warm tray so they have to keep adding water so it doesn't dry out but the result most of the time is 99% brown water. Absolutely revolting. I stopped going a few years ago when I noticed the quality going down hill but just tried it again tonight and it's somehow gotten even worse. The burrito bowl I paid $15 was tasteless, dry, chewy, and just flat out disgusting. I couldn't finish it. I dumped half of it in the trash... where it belongs. read more

Nice staff, awesome Burritos- I always get the pulled pork sans spicy stuff with veggies and the cranberry salsa- primo!! They even have a cute kids meal now - like a quesadilla with chips and salsa, juice box and cookies for like $5.99 - your budget and kids will love you! read more

Burrito Jax is just sort of "okay". They offer GIGANTIC burritos that are so big they'd probably break the rear axle on a dump truck, but quantity does not always equal quality. I find the burritos to just be pretty average here in terms of taste, pretty decent but nothing special. You have lots of options on what you want to have included in your burrito, which is nice. Of the several burritos I've had from this location in the past, I can say that roughly half of them had "temperature issues", meaning everything inside wasn't a nice and consistent temperature. Burrito Jax is sort of like the Subway of burritos. Their offerings are okay, but you can probably do a lot better yourself at home. read more

Wish there was a 2.5 star option. Was there twice in past week. And one of the times I had to leave because my order wasn't taken after 10 minutes waiting in line! I got the Jax Chicken burrito with the cranberry salsa based on other reviews. The ingred were fresh, and it is a nice lunch alternative to subway, but I it didn't have any heat in it even with plenty of the "stoopid hot" , hot sauce. For close to $10 for a stand up lunch I was left wanting. It took a painful 15 minutes to get my order the first time. A friend who works at Young Tower said to give it another chance and try one of the pulled meat option.... (heh I said pulled and meat heh) I stopped by today thinking I wouldn't have as long as wait... wrong! I had to leave after 10 minutes and not having my order taken. I think the store just opened and they are really busy being at the hub of the North end business district and military base which is great. However they have wrinkles to work out. For one thing, the staff are all over the place and seem flustered a lot of the time. Maybe it is just me, but shouldn't you have one person taking the orders, one person making the burritos and one person on the grill? read more

Burrito Jax - About as close as I got to one of their burritos today :( - Tex-Mex Near Me - Halifax, Nova Scotia

I opted for delivery as I'm a 14 day isolation and new to Halifax. The burrito bowl I ordered looked great but everything was cold and the coke I ordered was warm. Also ordered a side of Chips and salsa and got what looks and tastes like store bought salsa and a small bag of Old Dutch Restaurante tortilla chips. Disappointing read more

Upgrading this joint to four stars, based almost entirely on the service of a young, dark-haired and ponytailed gentleman. He's clearly elevated burrito construction to fine art - the sweep of the knife as he spread the guacamole, the delicate smattering of rice decorating the rolling mounds of black beans and sweet potato, the swirling drizzles of mole and burrito sauce, the way he folded that burrito up like an origami shishou...I take my hat off to you, good sir. Whatever else you may be, you have the heart and soul of a true gourmet. The burrito was most excellent and worth braving the frightening parking lot. read more

You know what. Besides not being really toasted. This was great. Full of the ingredients I ordered. Spicy and just overall delicious. I will be back.!!! read more

Burrito Jax - Ke mehnnuuuu - Tex-Mex Near Me - Halifax, Nova Scotia

I enjoy make your own burritos places! Unfortunately I have yet to find one I plan on frequenting in Halifax. I came here this evening and ordered a large vegetarian burrito. They have all your standard toppings but I found they had less to offer than most other burrito places i've been to. I got sweet potato, 2 types of beans, cheese, green pepper, cilantro, green onion, hot salsa, and "buckin hot sauce". They had a decent variety of sauces, including mole, cranberry salsa, different hot sauces and salsas of varying degrees of spicy. I found that a lot of the sauces had a sweet component to it which I didn't exactly like. My burrito was ok. I thought it was too sweet, which I don't think I expected/wanted in a burrito. It was good and spicy thankfully so theres a plus. They were pretty skimpy on the veggies, I thought they'd go all out since I got the vegetarian burrito, I would like to see more beans or some type of protein.. My favourite burrito place in Ottawa has a tofu option which is awesome. Oh, one more thing: turn that awful music down. My god. They had horrible screamo stuff blaring to the point that I couldn't hear them. My hunt for a decent burrito place continues. Maybe the downtown location is better? read more

Happy to see the new Burrito Jax at the corner of Kempt Road and Young. I have eaten at the one in Lower Sackville, and the one downtown, but this one is easier for me to get to! It is decorated just like the other two branches. I normally order the veggie burrito. It is crammed full of stuff, from the white rice and smashed beans, through the sweet potato and guac, the cranberry salsa, to the sour cream burrito sauce, and everything in between! Fresh, colourful, tasty and plentiful ingredients. Then your big burrito is toasted on both sides on the grill while you wait. I took mine to go. Wow. Every bite is a taste explosion in your mouth! $5.89 for a small, and to me, it is huge! The place was busy, and quite a few people ordered the bowls which also looked yummy. read more

Finally made it over to the new Burrito Jax this week. I've been meaning to stop in, since I love the other two locations, but it took a little while to be in that part of town! I got there and it was busy, but they were moving quickly and I was served in a few minutes. I ordered my usual chicken burrito bowl with guac and proceeded to the toppings. I was the only one getting a bowl, everyone else was getting burritos, so I got through a little quicker. The girl taking my order was lovely but I could barely hear her. No matter, this old pro knew what she wanted! Once I got my food, I headed to a table to enjoy it. And it was pretty good. I have to say that I was disappointed in the chicken - this chicken was dry, barely warm and just kinda eh. The rest was delicious - smashed beans were warm and tasty. The veggies were fresh and it had just the right amount of everything. Must have been a bad chicken day! Overall, great lunch and I'll be back again. Hopefully the chicken will be better! read more

I am reallly into Burrito Jax' veggie burrito bowl. I live near to the kempt road location and go there often. The other stuff is likely very good as well, but I have food allergies and the burrito bowl is the safest option...and did I mention it's freaking delicious? The lettuce though, could be a little fresher. Maybe it is at other locations. I can tell the Kepmt road store is rather slow and perhaps that is the reason both the lettuce and the staff seem a little wilted and apathetic. The place is really clean, although not very friendly for eating in. I still go there and will continue to when I'm feeling a little Tex Mex. Great food, okay store. The lettuce needs special attention, however. read more

So I am a long time customer of Burrito Jax, been going since the downtown location opened up. I went to the Clayton park location (since there closer to where I live) up until they closed recently. This location, the quality is not good and is very inconsistent. Four times I've been here and the rice was hard and crunchy, during the day and night. I'm currently sitting here eating my usual, a Large Jax chicken on the whole wheat with guac, everything on it. This burrito took 4 bites. I kid you not. Whereas I normally need to take my time to eat my burritos because they're so big and juicy. This one is lacklustre and it feels like I've ate nothing. I almost forgot I just ate. This is supposed to be a large burrito. For a burrito that costs 12$, this is way overpriced for a bite size roll. I'm pretty disappointed and will not be returning to this location anytime soon. read more

I was awaiting chimichangas but I wasn't able to find a place that sold them nearby. So I was like hey "burritos! That's pretty close. Eh" my Canadian jokes are amazing but keep listening. I went into Burrito Jax today (bad initials for a store), And the quality of the food is amazingly Beautiful. Comes second best to chimichangas. Great food when you've gotta beat up the bad dudes in 15 minutes and you need something fresh and fast. I got my burrito in 15minutes and was out the door. Only suggestion is I want to see more red and black to match my suit because after all I am amazing. None of that yellow and white. Red and black is in. Love, Deadpool read more

By far one of our favorite places to eat. If you havent gone here for your burrito fix then you are missing out. The freshness of the ingredients is unmatched and the staff is always friendly. The music leaves something to be desired but hey, who am I to question anyones music taste when mine is...well...what it is. This place is NOT a fast food joint like taco bell, but a perfect assembly of taste, quality and value. When we were here I got a large burrito and by the time I was done I didnt need to eat the rest of the day. Yea its that big. read more

Great food! I've been here a few times but never had a chance to give them a review. Food is fresh and the service is always fast!

I've been a regular at the downtown location and decided to check out the new Kempt Road location - it didnt disappoint. A little bigger than the Blowers street shop, great if you're in the north end and don't want to make the trip downtown. read more

I had been going to burrito jax since they first opened up downtown. I can say for sure never again. They either got greedy and cheap or hired the wrong guy at the north end location. I had been visiting that location as well since it opened. Tonight the burrito was less then half the size of the large burritos I had in the past and my wife had a small and my god it was like 2 bites. We are both really disappointed and will not return. The guy who served us was super fast but part of that speed is he does not put anything on the burrito. I saw the owner training new guys at the downtown location but once they opened up this new shop I had not seen him around. Too bad as the staff here really needs the training. Nobody will ever care as much as the owner does. They lost my business. I will not be back. read more

I work near this location so I have had a few opportunities to try them out. The food has been a hit every time. The ordering process takes a couple of run-through's to get the hang of, but the end result so far has been thumbs up every time. The cranberry salsa is becoming a standard topping for me. I'm not sure if the order/cook process could be streamlined at all, but I definitely avoid peak rush hours, as the wait can be pretty long with even just a couple of people in front of you. read more

Awesome!I come here once a week at least. Pulled pork burritos my favorite. Get mole and burrito sauce too. The parking lot is terrible and the atmosphere leaves something to be desired ie music. (Get it to go) Some staff members have better construction skills then others but that's not a big deal. Start to finish ordering can be slow but the taste is worth it. read more

Really good. Quick and tasty, lots and lots a of variety when it comes to toppings. We wanted something different for pick-up/take home. We went to the website, picked the toppings, called it in and 20 min later we had exactly what we ordered. A refreshing change from pizza places. Highly recommended read more

Music is way way way way TOO LOUD!!! You can barely hear the person taking your order. Food is decent. Wait time at this location is unbelievable after giving your order. When I was there today, someone complained about their burrito having an ingredient that they didn't ask for and they were told that they couldn't remake it, another would have to be purchased. The person accepted that response, but I was appalled. Parking is horrible too, but not basing it on that. I can compare, as I have been to the Clayton Park location as well- that one has much more reasonable music volume, and does not take nearly as long for your food to cook. All in all, food is decent (except the sour cream is horrendous) but I would try another location if possible! read more

Worst experience yet. Rice was crunchy (uncooked) and portion sizes are way down. Also asked for some sauce, not the whole bottle... Not only have then done that but they went for cardboard boxes to plastic bowls. What a waste. It'll be Habaneros from here on out! read more

Paid 15 bucks for a large burrito and ice tea. That's an expensive lunch! Have to say; the amounts of each ingredient added to my burrito were pretty pathetic. Asking for more of anything (literally five small tomatoes cubes was considered sufficient by my server, floating in a pool of juice , and a tiny smear of sweet potato) was greeted with rolled eyes and made me feel like I was the one being ridiculous - but it's my money I'm spending. The markup on these vegetables has to be significant - so you're making a name for yourself for the wrong reasons. I think BJ has grown too big too fast and has lost touch with what it was . Boo! read more

Went here again and the food was surprisingly disappointing. I paid for extra cheese and got none. They also put the wrong kind of salsa on and no sour cream. The rice and steak (I got a steak burrito) were bland. My friends order was wrong also. Total mess up. read more

I went with my Mom and without my mother yesterday and today.. love the Burrito and bowels. I would like to comment on the New worker named Alika she is very nice and friendly with a great attitude and smile thank you again cheers! read more

all the other burrito jax are delicious and offer great portion sizes....This one does not they offer you the option of a large burrito bowl but it isnt large by any means....they actually ask you if you want lettuce. If you want a burrito go to the other locations as this one is obviously not doing so well. read more

I've loved BJax since they opened, and I've loved lobster rolls everywhere they're sold, so I was excited to see they offer one. BUT THIS IS THE LEAST LOBSTER YOU WILL GET PER DOLLAR ANYWHERE. Really outrageously overpriced, and it's not like the price of lobster is up these days/years, you know? read more

Best Burrito Jax location! Always fresh ingredients. Staff is amazing and always helpful.

Just another place that penalizes you for being a vegetarian! The tiny blob of frozen guacamole they give you as an alternate for meat is shameful. They still make sure to charge you the same amount though! Pathetic! read more

Price was OK but I have tasted much better Burritos. there was definitely a shortage of add-ons such as the beans, sauce etc.. It was not because they were too busy since we were the only ones in the restaurant read more

The food offerings are quite good for the price paid..the service on the other hand is not..upon entering a empty restaurant I waited approximately 10 minutes for any signs of the staff..once a staff member did emerge they proceeded to ignore another customer and myself and continued a phone call without any type of acknowledgement of the two people in front of them...Any business that cannot provide the most basic levels of customer service training is not worth my business or anyone else's.....no matter how good the streak burrito is. read more
