Took my car to Burnside Automotive after a car accident. The collision repair itself was actually pretty good--they straightened everything out properly, the panels lined up well, and the car drives straight with no issues from the structural work. They were decent with communication during the process and got it done in a reasonable time frame. If it was just body/frame fixes, I'd have no complaints there. The problem came right after pickup. They power washed the car before handing it back (which is standard, I get it), but when I got to work and looked closer, the paint on the hood and front areas was chipping and flaking off in spots. It looked like the high-pressure wash blew off sections where the adhesion wasn't strong enough--paint peeled away easily, exposing primer or bare spots. This happened basically from their own cleaning, not from me driving to work that was only 10 mins away. I went back after work . They checked it and accuse me of picking the paint and refused to take responsibility even though it was their wash that caused the chipping. No offer to touch it up, repaint the affected areas, or even cover. Just brushed it off and sent me on my way. Felt really disappointing after otherwise solid work on the accident repair. If you're dealing with a bad crash and need reliable body work, they might do okay structurally. But for owning up when their process damages it? Not impressed. I'll be going elsewhere for any touch-ups or future needs. Take before/after pics of any cleaning, and consider a shop that stands behind the full job. read more

While our insurance company gave us fits through this ordeal (it took over a month to get our car back from just a minor collision), Burnside was wonderful! The front office staff were super helpful and friendly. They also saw our issues with the insurance company and reached out to them to try and fix the issues for us. They did a great job fixing our vehicle and keeping us updated with the process. The man who worked on our vehicle (I'm sorry I forget his name), was also very friendly and kept us updated. I had my hood fly open while driving on the freeway. The hood was damaged, the arms and the hood cracked the windshield. AAA road side service recommended Burnside Body shop in Modesto. Burnside Body shop did a phenomenal job fixing and matching the paint on our 1994 Sierra Pickup truck. An added touch that really impressed us is that the shop vacuumed the interior and cleaned up all the dust and cleaned all the windows inside and out, and the mirrors. Nicole at the front desk was very helpful and knowledgable and we appreciated working with her. I would definitively recommend Burnside Body shop if anyone is looking for a body shop. Burnside was a welcome relief after getting the run around from another shop. Niel quickly assessed the damages and told me they'd do their best to get it in first thing. Sarah was able to get ahold of my insurance and get a rental car scheduled. This was all just prior to closing, but they weren't at all worried about the time. Literally the worst customer service I've ever got. Came to get a quote. First thing he tells me is "just a FYI we're on the pricy end"... ok? Im like "ok I'm just trying to get a quote." This is a family operation that has been around for years, formerly known as Wilson Lincoln Mercury. Our roof rack and luggage rocket box was damaged in a car wash (see review of Five Minute Car Wash, Modesto, CA) two days before our planned departure and long road trip back to Montana. The rocket box was critical to packing all of our stuff and we needed it done ASAP. Brandon, the owner of the car wash immediately said that they would do all that they could to have everything repaired or replaced so as we could leave on schedule. He contacted Burnside and they said to bring in the car and damaged rack & box first thing the next day. Brandon dropped off the box and I was there with the car at 8am. I could not have had a more attentive, considerate, accommodating, proficient and professional experience than I did working with manager Jerrad Krejci and owner Brent Burnside. They put one of their best men, whose name I have forgotten, who spent most of the day repairing the bent luggage rack, patching up the rocket box and insuring that the combination would be OK for the trip the next day. I usually don't post reviews, however this time I felt the need to. A lot of companies are lacking quality service and great customer service. Burnside has not only come through on my most recent repair but on the last 3, even during COVID delays. Neil has gone above and beyond with my insurance and getting my Lexus factory parts! Not once did he complain to me and ask me to argue with them on my time. He handled it all! They were completing my vehicle to the highest quality standard without even getting authorization from the insurance first. That was a huge relief and value to my time that they pressed forward with my repair to get my Lexus back to me timely. They showed me that they valued my time over their bottom line. Also my customer portion pay came in right on budget, not a penny above! Just to be clear that isn't normal customer service. I went to Kruse Lucas for an estimate only based on a push from my insurance adjuster. Not only did Eric tell me how busy he was and didn't really have time to look at my Lexus, he then preceded to tell me that I shouldn't customer pay any of it (there was a different scratch aside from the accident) that I should run it all through insurance. Then once he looked at my estimate he complained on how low the estimate was. He then told me how they only help with the insurance company but it's my responsibility and how much more expensive their prices are and I as the customer would ultimately be responsible for any difference and I would have to deal directly with the insurance company. I didn't think twice about going directly back to Burnside! I was so happy I did. Again Neil came through, fast and on my budget! He dealt directly with insurance and was still finalizing the repair but gave me back my Lexus. Anna at the front is always polite and helpful! I won't go anywhere else but there! One word: HORRIFIC. There are no words to adequately describe my situation other than they are a fix-as-they-go shop. My car was in their shop for over 2 months and upon return still had mechanical issues. We took it back and they fixed the hub and bearing (which was mentioned to them when they first got the vehicle) yet was overlooked. Unfortunately it should have been totaled out because I'm still having to get various issues fixed at my local dealership with my car. Since they are a guaranteed network shop, my insurance insisted it be towed to Burnside for a tear down to see if it was fixable or not after I was hit. Well, they started fixing it despite it having deeper issues than they acknowledged.My 5 year old CR-V, with only 32k miles (which was in like-new condition before I got hit) now drives and handles like a 15 year old vehicle with more than 200k miles. I'm utterly devastated and broken, but since they insisted on fixing it, I have to keep enduring more fixes until it gets to the point of 80% past the value of the car. The outside of the vehicle looks wonderful, but the car has more deep-seeded issues that weren't properly inspected and fixed. I will never go to this shop again. Unfortunately I'm just another person they can get money out of. But in the meantime, they also robbed me of my peace of mind when I drive my car! read more
