Where to start? Horrible communication. Promised start days came and went with ZERO communication. When questioning new dates, it was revealed that the Order had not been made for any of the hardware (sink, cabinet hardware). Start date remained uncommitted. Regrettably, the job was paid in full in advance of start. 1st and last time this will ever happen again with any contractor. Removes all incentive for a BS company to perform. DO NOT USE this fly by night, unprofessional, joke of company. As someone who has flipped homes for the past 20 years, I do not know where to begin. Burns was and is the worst contractor I ever dealt with. Delays, lies and poor workmanship. He tried to make us take a defective quartz slab because his crew cut the piece wrong and didn't want to lose out on the price of the material. I had to insist on a replacement Had to wait an additional month even though the manufacture acknowledged the replacement material was in stock and available for pickup. Terrible communication with the office personnel. Robert would never pick up the phone when we asked to speak with him or return a call. He ignored us when we showed up in person. If he was owed money you can be sure he would answer. Promised to show up in the am, waited all day only to have them cancel. That happened on several occasions. His employees were okay and considerate, but would only shake there heads when problems arose and were not surprised with my disgust of the lack of problem solving. Robert was only concerned about finishing up the job, moving on and looking for the next big payday. Never once did he call us up to apologize for the delays, missed calls and countless mistakes made. Whats more, he never once stepped foot in my home to see the project at any point. Even at the completion. He is a terrible business man who needs to take lessons on how to run a business. The reviews I've read have all the same issues I experienced. Have tried for 3 years to get a contractor to add a small half bath inside our existing office space, but no one wanted a small job. Robert Burns came out, looked at the ideas I had and agreed to do the job. He never drew up plans with measurements, but instead worked off a sketch. What should have been a 2 week job ended up taking 5 weeks and instead of a 25 sq foot bathroom it's now 42 sq feet. When the whole house is just under 1250 sq feet, that's huge. Never knew when someone was coming to work on the job. He agreed to put in a pocket door for access, but a 3' door will not fit in a 5' wall. So he changed the access point and then built an almost 7' wall! His framer botched the job so badly, his own sheet rock man refused to do anything until he could repair the damage. If we hadn't been trying to get this done for 3 years, would have stopped the process right then. Long story short, poor planning, poor communication, acceptance of shoddy work by his staff, constant UP pricing and refusal to accept responsibility for his own errors. Beware - this is not a reputable company. I should have listened to a couple of my friends who used them to do full kitchen and bathroom design/installs and had disastrous results with the owner Robert, customer service, and quality (which the owner did not make right). There are other reviews posted as well stating such. It is always suspect when a company needs to advertise so often and with discounted prices, rather than using word of mouth to keep them busy. But I only needed a countertop remnant and managed to find a somewhat workable piece there to match my existing countertops, which were older and therefore harder to find a match for. I first went there on 12/15 and found a piece. I was told they were too busy with the holidays to help me, and to come back afterwards. I went back on 12/28 and was told by their fabricator technician that the piece would need a seam because it was so sun-bleached from sitting out in their yard, and they would need to cut around that. Burns (Andrea) then gave me another option - that I could go to one of their suppliers about an hour away, pick out a new slab kept indoors, and Burns would give me a price. I went there that same day, found a slab, the supplier sent the information to Burns, and I followed up with Burns (Andrea) to ensure they got the info. The supplier said they could only hold the slab for 30 days. On 2/9 I called Burns again (Diane) because they still had not given me a price. On 4/18 called yet again (Madison), and was told the owner needed to do the pricing. Followed up repeatedly: 4/23 (Chrystal), 5/3 (Madison), 5/16 (Madison), 5/20 (Madison), 5/22 (Chrystal), 5/24 (Diane), 5/28 (Madison). Along the way, I contacted the supplier because I figured I could still use the slab and get a price from a different retailer instead of Burns, but by then the slab had been sold. In my final call, the owner was finally in the office, and would not talk to me directly, but through the customer service gal, gave me a price on the remnant. It was a large price considering it was an older style, sun-bleached, and would need a seam. He knocked the price down a little after I said such, but it was still too much considering what I went through. I asked that the owner contact me directly to discuss, but of course, he never did, which speaks to his character, just like what happened with my friends. I decided I would never want to work with such a company on the install component anyway, particularly since they required all money upfront. How could I ever trust them??? Beware. read more

Horrible experience with this company! Had there been negative ratings, I will rate negative 25! In good faith, we have entered into a contract with Burns Woodworking to remodel master bathroom, and replacement of new floors for the living room, and Lanai area. The contract was signed in middle June 2022. Floor replacement was completed later Fall the same year, but the renovation of the master bath was not finished till June of 2023, one year later. Although there are plenty issues with the bathroom: Stolen wall tiles, broken granite pieces, chipped tiles, wrong materials ordered and used, uneven grout lines...., the floor also has its own problems, and this one is serious. So serious, that the owner, Robert Burns, came to inspect the problematic floor in Spring 2024, he totally agreed to removed all of the newly replaced floor coverings because the seams buckled and split, and that installation without proper moisture barriers didn't help either.... In Winter 2024, Burns Woodwork sent a crew to redo living room floor. The new living room looks great, but it has only a 15 yr. Warranty for product life, the original floor Burns installed has 30 yr. I think we got cheated!!! It's now March 2025, we are still awaiting for the replacement of lanai floor ....??? Since the beginning of 2025, we've made many, many attempts to see/speak with Robert Burns, but to no avail. It appeared that the staff and Mr. Burns are playing dodge ball with us. So far, they are winning. Most of Burns workers are very hardworking people, I appreciated them tremendously, and tipped them well except for the person who installed and stole my wall tiles. I have also granted Robert the freedom to use the best available materials the market has to offer. He was assured that cost is a none issue, and we've always paid him upon request without questions asked. Robert told me he is licensed and insured to do the job, but that number didn't reflect on any of my documents, I did research on line, but can't find his licenses, so I will dig deeper. I planned on getting satisfaction from this complaint, otherwise I won't hesitate to find a lawyer, or go to court over this issue. Trusting people with just their promises, and words is very foolish, I guess this is an excellent lesson learned. There existed plenty of shysters out there, next time I will take time in checking backgrounds of these people more closely to avoid this types of fraudsters. read more

We used Burns woodworking in Summerfield and Oxford. I am very picky. I remodeled 2 baths and the kitchen which has not been completed yet. I will say WITHOUT a doubt and 3 other quotes, they have done an outstanding job. Their craftsmen are superb with extensive knowledge and skills. I would highly recommend them for any remodel job. Burns Woodworking combines a unique blend of incompetence, arrogance and ignorance. The lack of professionalism starts at the top and permeates the office. It would be a mistake to choose to do business with Burns. If I knew what I was in for at the start of my granite kitchen project, I would have spent the additional money and gone to Ultimate Granite. The delays in completing the project ended up costing me more than a competent granite provider. I cannot comprehend how such a business could continue to exist. Read the other reviews and make a better choice than I did. To be fair, the installers successfully did their jobs. read more

I seldom write reviews but I was very disappointed with this company. We wanted a quote on work in our lanai; we had it closed in with glass and wanted finish work inside. The appointment was made with Robert Burns. Robert came out, we told him what we were thinking about, he added some suggestions and said he would get back to us with a quote by the end of the week. End of week came, no word. I emailed the company and a few days later, received the quote. It wasn't complete and very vague. Instead of going back and forth with emails, I asked that Robert call me in the morning and he agreed that he would. He never called. I sent an email at the end of the day and immediately received a response from his office saying he had an emergency and would be out of the office all weekend but would call me first thing Monday morning. He never called. I was disappointed that he or his office didn't have the professionalism to at least call to let me know their company didn't have an interest in doing this job which by the way was not a small job. This made my decision easy as I received another quote and will go with this other company. The fact that Burns was non responsive only tells me their work ethic was lacking and we would probably have issues with them doing the work in timely manner. read more

I know there are some who have had a great experience with Burns Woodworking and I'm happy for you. We used them for a kitchen and two bathrooms remodel. They were a nightmare to deal with but at just over 1/3 the price of other estimates I received, I ultimately got through it and was happy with the results. Less than a year later, paint on the cabinets, along the floor began to flake off. We didn't bother him with that, my husband scraped it off and repaired it. Then, one of the sinks they installed the master bath sprung a leak less than two years later. My husband went to Lowe's and Ace Hardware to try to get replacement washers but they didn't have them and couldn't order them. He went to Burns' Summerfield location and they told him we would have to buy new sinks. They said Mr. Burns would call him later that day. That was more than 2 weeks ago and we have not received a call back. My kitchen and bathrooms are gorgeous and the price was reasonable but if you want service after the sale, you can forget it with these people. read more

I signed a contract with Burns Cabinets on August 7, 2021. They gave me the run around for four months. They came three days before Christmas put some doors on, had to return three doors wrong size and wrong color. Waited a month for the new doors, they came with the doors wrong color again. Then the sink came it didn't fit, the second one didn't fit, finally the third sink fit, but they tore the Formica taking out old sink. The plumber left a mess under sink, had to clean up his mess. The electrician put under cabinet lights, he drilled thru the cabinets left the wire hanging and shavings laying in cabinet, had to clean his mess also. Waited eight months for a four hour job! I got good references about them. Would not recommend Burns Cabinet, they take too long and are sloppy workmen, I would not call them craftmen. Still waiting for job to be completed! read more

I hired Burns to do a renovation on my home that included a bathroom, kitchen and flooring throughout. They "finished" the job but took me having to basically nag them to get it done. At one point they even called me for final payment when they hadn't finished the job or even been to my house for over a month. Robert never came to check on the quality of the work that his guys did, even though I requested him to come out multiple times. In the end I had to accept subpar work and hire someone else to patch up/finish their work. Sadly this seems to be far too common in the industry though, as I have had similar issues with other local businesses. read more

I had my kitchen redone in 2019. The cabinets I received were not good quality. With 2 retired people living in the house - there are nicks and scratches everywhere. When Robert came to measure...I told him what I wanted (my contractor was not there for the measuring, big mistake) and he made 2 mistakes in the measuring and ordering of the cabinets. When the office manager contacted the contractor to big up the cabinets - she failed to advise him that the lazy susan for the corner cabinet was also in so he had to go back for a second trip. I watched the granite install like a hawk to ensure it was the right size and installed properly. Good thing as they ended up having to take the granite top back to their shop to make adjustments (bad measuring again??). I have shaker cabinet doors and iff liquid drips down the door...it goes into the bottom of the door because there is nothing sealed where the panel and the door trim meet. All in all - not pleased with the finished product, but not much I can do now. read more

I just had a job finish with Burns Woodworking and I'm writing this to hopefully save many people in the future from experiencing the problems we have had. Basically just DON'T USE THEM. Robert Burns, the owner will come to your house and promise you the moon and not deliver. He doesn't put everything in writing but says he will take care of it--- "don't worry". Then he forgets what he has promised you. His contractors made many mistakes that couldn't be fixed, but the things that had to be fixed and were fixed were because Robert made mistakes. I told him that seams were a big priority - they turned out awful. One side of my granite overhangs 1/2 inch and it goes over to the other side at over an inch. Totally lopsided. Robert told the office staff a name for the granite we wanted in the bathroom that was the wrong name; hence, the wrong granite was installed. He did tear it out and put something different in but it was with a grudge that he was "doing us a favor". It was to correct his mistake. He measured wrong for our granite table overhang and it came in 5" too long. He said he was doing us a favor to cut it down to the size it was supposed to be. He didn't relay messages correctly to his staff causing many delays. Our job should have taken maybe 3-4 days and it wasn't completed for almost 4 months! You can call me for more details but I wouldn't use them again if they were the last contractors on the face of the earth.! read more

Installation was terrible, they have to send someone out to fix. The granite installers scraped the cabinets and said "Woods would have to repair it". Only hire them if you are prepared to have a project that will last twice as long what they initially said. Also, after signing the contract and pay for half of the project (total project = US$ 7000 in my case), you will have to call them to execute every step. They are 100% reactive: if you don´t call them and nag, the job will never be done. And be prepared to accept cut corners and bad quality. At the end, you are so sick of them, you just want them out of your life. Oh, and did I mention the charges that show up on your final bill and that were never mentioned before? When I said nobody EVER said (nor it was in the contract) I would have to pay them to cut a sink hole in the granite I bought from them for US$ 2500 (yes, surprisingly, my kitchen does have a sink), their answer was "And who said you wouldn't?" Of course, I didn´t pay the never before mentioned "sink hole fee", but I still find their answer amusing... read more
