We rented chairs for an outdoor wedding, and a tent, tables, chairs, dance floor and other incidentals from Burns for a wedding reception this past weekend. Working with Molly was pleasant and she was very helpful with planning what was needed. The tent itself was beautiful with a draped ceiling and lights. It provided a gorgeous atmosphere for the reception. Everything went smoothly, helping to make it a very special and memorable day. Poor communication, rude customer service, low quality rental items, late delivery of many rented items.

I rented several pieces of equipment recently. I reserved the both pieces of equipment for a four hour rental over the phone. After paying I noticed they had charged me for a twenty four hour rental. I just figured I would get it corrected when I returned the equipment which I did. I was however told emphatically that I had reserved it for 24 hours. To which I quickly replied no it was only reserved for a four rental. The young man at the counter still had to get his little snide comments in ... well because you insisted I changed the rental back to a 4 hour rental. Sometimes rental company's get a bad wrap when customers are being unrealistic or don't know how to run the equipment that they rented. Me on the other hand am always friendly, smiling and joking many times when I go in only to be treated like my being there is a hassle for them. That only applies to the young man at the front counter. Everyone else has always been professional and polite at least at an acceptable level for a rental business. I will find out the name of the young man at the counter so I can give credit where credit is due. read more

I rented a tool last Saturday and it wasn't doing the job. I called them and they said I could switch it out. So I took the tool back and picked up the other one and finished the job. Not once did he mention any additional charge, not once did they say anything other then have it back by Monday at 10 AM. They gave me no paperwork or ask for a signature. But looking at my checking account this week and they charged me full price for both tools. So I paid $130 instead of $60. I called them to ask about the charge and had to leave a voice mail. They didn't return my phone call. So if you have to use them remember their Don't ask Don't tell policy. If you don't ask they won't tell you they are charging you double. Don't get BURNED by burns rental like I did. read more

Ten minutes late with return of trencher and get charged $70 extra. Wow cut me some slack here, like you're going to rent it out for the last hour of the day. Rushed whole day to get back within 4 hours for this to happen. Was also charged $28 for equipment protection plan that i declined. read more

We rented a mini skid steer, and a trailer to get the equipment home. Skid steer was ok the trailer was completely unsafe. First we got stuck was not there fault but put us behind on delivering it back. They said they would add another 4 hour charge on it. The trailer isn't rated to the heavy skid steer. The Jack wouldn't lift the tong of the trailer, the lights wouldn't work, they said it was in good working condition. We got 6 min away from Burns, and called them telling them we now had a blow out. They said the tires were in good shape when we left so it's our responsibility to replace the tire. Note it was a blow out not a nail in the tire. There was no spare so we had to call to get it replaced. $215 later, and waiting on the side of the road till almost 5. 6 min from Burns. The tire guy said the trailer wasn't rated for that kind of weight, and the tire was rubbing on the fender well. Note the lights wouldn't work but they sent it out anyway. They said normally cops wouldn't ticket because they could see lights on the truck. The tire was old enough they don't make them anymore. So they charged me for one day and the price and time for a new tire!!! Talk about lousy customer service. 6 min away! read more

Terrible customer service. Would not recommend. We went looking for a cleaner and they send us back twice for not having the correct identification without letting us know what was necessary. But FYI if you plan on going you have to be an Indiana resident and bring your drivers license. read more

I would never recommend Burns Rent-Alls. The coordinator we worked with (Lauren) was detached and impersonal. We submitted our head count 2 weeks before the wedding (as required) and paid our balance in full. Several days later, Lauren called us back to say we had an additional charge for extra place settings that were needed and not included. Poor communication! The employees that picked up the rented items on the Monday after the event did not bother to ring the bell at the front desk for the owners (who were available on the property to unlock the barn). Subsequently, the employees left without removing the rented items. The spokesman at Burns was discourteous; she blamed the owners of our venue for not keeping watch for two hours for the Burns van. After the event we received an additional billing for items Burns said were not returned contrary to the count by our caterer. After our wedding event, I contacted the owners by email (including my phone number) to discuss our numerous concerns. I never received any reply. Seems they are interested in their profits and not their customer service. read more

I decided to use Burns for our wedding rentals because they had a good working relationship with our caterer. However, I was very disappointed in my choice. The person we worked with was not personable at all and did not communicate well with us. Two days before my wedding we were informed that if we wanted Saturday delivery (our venue required this), there would be a $500 fee. We spoke with our venue, and they said Friday delivery was fine, but that it needed to be in the morning. Burns was not able to guarantee a morning time slot unless we paid extra. We ended up paying $100 for them to drop off at 9am, per our venue request. However, they did not show up until after 9:30am. We were told that all of these fees were mentioned in the contract, but were never communicated or mentioned to us outside of this, which to me is a way to hide them until the last minute. Two days before my wedding, this was the last thing I wanted to deal with and was extremely frustrating and dissatisfying when the prices we were paying for items were already outrageous. Burns was not polite or professional to me, my family, and especially our venue owner, who they were verbally abusive to over the phone. I will never use Burns again and would NOT recommend them to anyone. The only positive thing I have to say is that they set up the tent correctly and our table linens looked nice, but this alone would not be enough for me to ever go back. read more
