When I first arrived, the young lady at the front desk was not very welcoming. As the first-person patients interact with, the front desk sets the tone for the entire visit. A warm greeting and good customer service can make a significant difference, and I hope additional customer service training is considered. On a much more positive note, the dental assistant--a young Jamaican woman whose name I unfortunately cannot remember--was exceptional. She was knowledgeable, thorough, and took the time to explain everything in detail. She made me feel comfortable and was genuinely easy to talk to. She was the highlight of my visit, and I truly appreciate the level of care and professionalism she provided. The dentist was also kind and pleasant. However, the dental hygienist seemed rushed and disorganized, although I understand it may have been a busy day. The most disappointing part of my visit involved the treatment plan. My appointment was confirmed as including a cleaning, yet I never received one. I also have two dental insurance plans, and it appeared that both were not fully verified. When I asked about the cleaning, I was told that even though I had been scheduled for one, I might only receive a partial cleaning and would need to return later to have the rest of my mouth cleaned. I found this explanation difficult to understand. As someone who works in medical billing and coding, this raised serious concerns for me. There was nothing on my X-rays indicating a condition that would justify this approach, so it left me questioning whether the recommendation was medically necessary or financially motivated. Patients work hard for their money and deserve honest, transparent communication about their care and costs. Experiences like this can be especially confusing and concerning for older adults or anyone unfamiliar with dental billing practices. While I genuinely appreciated the professionalism of the dental assistant and the kindness of the dentist, the issues with the front desk, insurance verification, scheduling, and treatment recommendations left me with little confidence in the overall practice. I researched and really liked the "feel" of Atlanta Dental Spa. Their "No Judgement" attitude is what I liked the most. I walked in the front door (BIG step) and Tiara took such great care of me. She is so sweet!! After x-rays and scans, I met with Dr. Gandhi who was very understanding of my fear. He was gentle and explained everything that needed to be done and what those options were. It was scary looking at all that was needed, but they offer sedation dentistry and that's what I did. After a good couple of hours of being "consciously knocked out", Dr. Gandhi, Whitney and Britney got the work done! I left being able to smile showing my teeth for the first time in years! But more so, correcting the things that could affect the rest of my health. After I got home I did NOT have ANY pain which is saying a lot as I had a ton of work done. They said that days 3-4 might be the worst for pain, but there was NONE. And that's taking nothing but ibuprofen. The advancement of dentistry is amazing. More than that, finding a dental office that treats you like family, sees you at your scheduled time, offers you neck warmers, blankets, headphones with your choice of music...but most of all truly cares about your patient experience. Wednesday I went to a new holistic dentist and my xrays showed a cavity and possible need for root canal but they recommended at CT to confirm. Well I'm glad I did because then she confirmed the tooth in question was healthy it was the one next to it that had a big cavity on the gum line, hence my excruciating pain. My new dentist said she could extract it the follow week but my best friend and several family had teeth extractions from Dr Brady so I called their office and Naz got me in that morning (I was leaving the country the following week and was afraid of having an absess on an island plus wanted to have enough time to heal and not be on a soft foods diet on vacation). Everyone in the office is super friendly and helpful. Dr Brady walked in the room and from the door spotted the problem child tooth, explaining why a root canal/crown wasn't an option. I loved that you could see the entire xrays on a huge screen and see the problem for yourself in 2D. My surgery team had great bedside manner - Luke is phenomenal and was able to get blood out of my arm with ease, even while dehydrated (for surgery prep). I have issues with phlebotomist drawing blood out of my arms but Luke nailed it and grabbed 2 vials like a pro. Ken was my other great surgical tech and they keep me as calm as possible pre-op. Dr. Brady was fantastic, friendly and we joked around before surgery and the next thing I knew, I was done. I only needed 2 advil complete - I never really had much pain. Without reservation, I would highly recommend Dr. Gordon Brady and the staff at Oral Surgery Associations in Buckhead. Ya'll are the BEST!
