I'm updating my original review because people deserve to know the truth about how far this…read morepractice has fallen. The glowing reviews you'll see here are outdated--many of the doctors being praised, like Dr. Andrew, don't even work here anymore. Since the practice relocated and Dr. Koch took over, it's been a steady and disappointing decline. Dr. Koch took over the practice and it's completely gone downhill since they've moved. She hasn't personally examined my teeth in years, except for brief check-ins for orthodontic treatment. Most of my visits have been with Dr. Mondani, who completely lacks chair-side manner and shows zero warmth or connection. Every interaction now feels rushed, impersonal, and transactional. It's clear the focus is no longer on patient care--it's on moving people in and out as fast as possible. The new office space mirrors the cold, detached experience: sterile, industrial, and uninviting. It's the perfect metaphor for how the practice now operates--clinical and profit-driven, with none of the comfort or care you'd hope for in a family dental office. One of the other issues that adds to the decline of this place is that they no longer validate the parking for a full visit. They only validate for 1 hour and they have NEVER actually gotten me in and out within an hour so I have a pay a balance when I leave. It's only a few dollars but it's quite an annoyance. Another huge issue is the turnover is staff, clearly there is an issue with how they treat their employees as well because the tech turnover is insanely high. I haven't seen the same tech more than twice in a row and I'm trying to get to know a new tech each time. This used to be a dental office I trusted and recommended. Not anymore. If you're looking for a practice that values you as a patient and runs with professionalism and care, look elsewhere. This place is a shell of what it used to be.

Yes, you read that right--no sinks in the rooms. When I came in for a cleaning, there was no rinsing or spitting because they simply don't have the facilities. The issues didn't stop there. I already had braces on when I scheduled my cleaning, but when I arrived, the hygienist was upset with me for having braces during the cleaning. She claimed I should've had three separate appointments: one for removing the braces, one for the cleaning, and then another for putting the braces back on. She made her frustration very clear, which made the whole experience uncomfortable. Throughout my treatment, they switched my orthodontist multiple times with no explanation. Each time, I had to sit there while someone new reviewed my chart, which felt incredibly unprofessional and unsettling. On top of that, they kept asking if I was satisfied with how my teeth looked. How am I supposed to know what my teeth should look like? Isn't that their job to determine and fix? For context, I got braces to correct flaring and a few spaces in my teeth. While the spaces seemed closed, the flaring wasn't fixed at all. Honestly, my first round of braces 10 years ago gave me better results than this round ever did. The only reason I needed braces again was that I didn't wear my retainers back then. This time, I was determined to do everything right, but Pure Dental Health completely dropped the ball. When it came time to remove my braces, they didn't even know I was scheduled for the appointment. Worse yet, my retainers weren't ready. I had to be fitted for them after my removal appointment, which meant scheduling another visit. I had also asked about permanent retainers before my removal appointment and was told they would cost $600. I asked if I owed anything else for my braces, and they assured me I didn't. Then, on the day of removal, they suddenly told me I owed $600 for the braces removal, meaning I'd have to pay $1,200 total for both. At that point, I refused to pay for the permanent retainers and just paid for the braces removal. This back-and-forth was unprofessional, poorly communicated, and frustrating.

When I arrived at my first appointment the staff as the desk said "your insurance will probably reimburse you - please file it yourself." The next day I had the surgery. I was referred to this practice by my primary dentist, but after my experience, I have formally filed a complaint with the Georgia Board of Dentistry and notified my provider that I will no longer accept referrals to this office. I attempted to reschedule a May 21 appointment due to a tornado and power outage in my area. I was told by staff that the $200 cancellation fee would be waived under the circumstances. I have documentation confirming a power outage at my home and an email showing our call was disconnected. Yet nearly a month later, on June 12, I was billed for the full $200--without explanation, follow-up, or regard for the prior communication. When I called to reschedule, Yolanda L., the office manager, was rude, insensitive, and completely unprofessional. She told me I needed to pay my full deductible upfront just to rebook, despite the emergency situation and the previous understanding. She was aggressive on the phone, dismissive of my concerns, and offered no support or compassion for the circumstances. This is not acceptable behavior for someone in patient-facing care. What's worse is that this practice failed to meet basic pre-operative standards. I was never given lab orders, formal clearance instructions, or education about anesthesia risk--even though I disclosed recreational smoker use. No reminders, documentation, or clinical follow-up were provided in the three weeks between my consultation and scheduled surgery. This is clinically irresponsible and could have put my health at risk. After reviewing other patient experiences, it's clear I'm not alone. Many others have described this office as hostile, unsympathetic, and dismissive. The common theme is money-first, patient-second--and it shows in how they communicate, bill, and treat people during vulnerable moments. This review serves as a warning to others and documentation of my experience. I have formally reported this office to the Georgia Board of Dentistry for further investigation. I've also notified my referring dentist to remove this clinic from their list. I will never return, and I urge others to do their research before trusting this team with your care.

Tend says they "reimagined the dental experience," and that's certainly true. You book online with a slick system, and the "studio" is quite high design and appealing -- Instagram-worthy. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, from beginning to end. When you book, you choose what you want to watch on TV, and when they are working on you, you watch a screen on the ceiling with that show and headphones. But all that us not the only way they are different. Although I went in for a cleaning, there were so many diagnostics (x-rays, the depth test thing with the ruler, and photos of each tooth), I didn't even get cleaned. I'm not sure they ever intended to clean on this visit. I wish that had been clearer. So I made TWO more appointments for cleaning 1/2 of my mouth each time. They said that's how insurance pays for it, since my cleaning needs require numbing. (Admittedly, it's my first cleaning since COVID.) I liked both the hygienist and the dentist, and I'll update this after my two cleanings. Also, I didn't get the promised goodie bag, I guess bc I didn't actually get the cleaning? IDK. The jury is still out.

She has been my hygienist for more than 15 years and is the primary reason I continue to come to Tend Dental. After my cleaning, Dr. Buchanan came in to review my X-rays. During our conversation, he asked whether I was currently seeing another dentist. I explained that I was not seeing another dentist for routine care. However, he stated that notes in my chart indicated otherwise and proceeded to pull those notes up on the screen. He then asked, in what felt like an accusatory manner, "Did you not say this?" While I do see another doctor for specialized treatment when needed, I found this interaction concerning and uncomfortable. I was particularly surprised that internal chart notes were displayed and referenced in that way. The manner in which the information was presented felt more like an interrogation than a professional discussion. Dr. Buchanan also asked for the name and contact information of the other dental office so that additional X-rays would not need to be taken. While I understand the intent behind that request, the overall conversation felt unusual and unprofessional. I am scheduled to return in two weeks to have the other side of my mouth cleaned. Although I was very pleased with my hygienist and the care I received, I would prefer not to be seen by Dr. Buchanan during my next visit.
