I asked if that was normal since the door and website clearly say open until 9, and she nervously said, "Oh, well we stop taking orders at 8:45." Cool... except it was literally 8:40. I showed her the time, thinking maybe we'd still be seated. She walked off to "check with the kitchen," came back, and just said, "No, we're done." If you close the kitchen early based on how busy the night is, that's understandable--but be transparent. Don't list 9 PM as your closing time if you're shutting it down at 8:30. That's just bad service and worse communication. Also, when a customer asks for clarification and your only response is "I'm not sure what your problem is, ma'am"--you've got a problem. I've worked in restaurants. This wasn't about timing. It was about a staff and kitchen that didn't feel like doing their job.

He was less than apologetic. I stated the software was not the fault but his attention. He showed no interest in apologizing. I said a couple of cuss words about it's people not software that provide good customer service. Manager came over and said it was the software and I should not blame his staff. We got up and left. I think this place is hit or miss. Obviously, my wife were in the miss section. There were folks in IHOP section that seemed to have good interaction with different servers.
