What is offered? Ferns, flowering plants for indoor and outdoor, herbs, succulents, annuals, perennials, even orchids...the selection may vary from Saturday to Saturday, but the health and quality of the plants are second to none. The prices? Easily beating those at local nurseries and big box stores. (Actually, we did find Boston Fern at a local grocer for one dollar less, but of lesser quality, in our honest opinions). And if the plants offered are not enough of an inducement, just ask Maria's advice for growing and maintenance of plants. Don't be misled by her down home, and sometimes brassy personality. She is only at this location on Saturday mornings, and all her plants fly by in just HOURS. I believe she sets up at 7am, and I've seen people waiting for her at that time. Usually by noon, most of her plants have already sold and you only get the not-so-pretty plants. All the plants I've purchased from her have been doing amazing and are pest free. Last time I visited she was only accepting cash, so I would recommend taking some bills in case she is still doing that. Highly recommending visiting her if you are looking for a new plant baby!

They have a big shop with a lot of gardening themed tools and items, and they sell plants as well. They have a cafeteria with tables and chairs that sells your standard fast food options, and they sell things like homemade salsa, jam, and of course bottles of wine in there too. The thing I like most about Wildseed: they have a path you can walk around that stretches between their vineyards and ends at a little fence facing the mass of wildflower fields that bloom in the spring with red, blue, and yellow wildflowers. If you go at the time it's in bloom, you'll be blessed with SUCH an incredible view, and all the little butterflies and bees zoom around while you walk the little trail/path. I think it's so lovely that it's been around/available to walk all these years. They do also have a little garden aspect at the beginning of the trail with a pond etc. that you can look at. It's mad cute. Definitely pay this spot a visit if you're passing through Fredericksburg!

But, it's basically that (although there wasn't much of it yet, just some flowers to see) and garden decor, pots, gifts, wine, pickled things, plants and LOTS of wildflower seeds to plant at home. The plants, some were decently priced, most were a little pricier. Just depends on which ones. Majority of the ones we wanted were a little better price wise vs going to home depot, at least we think so! We walked around the adventure trail (since it was free) to get some steps in and have the kids burn some of their energy out while roaming around (minus my toddler, she would want to run away and fast haha so I changed my mind on that idea). The trail itself was open, spacious and a great way to get some fresh air. You can be lucky enough to catch some glimpses of some flowers that could be sprouting out even though there's not much! The shops: they had different types of store fronts, one for food/snack/pickled items alongside a small cafe where you can order beer and wine, another for more accessories, clothing and some planting items too! They had standing wine tasting area near the trail walking area if you want to walk around with some wine. Parking: so much parking, so definitely not to worry although I can image it being more difficult when the flowers really bloom in their field.

As a first-time customer, we had no means of knowing that the outdoor plants shouldn't be brought inside for purchase. There was no clear signage or anything on the door that would help guide us to where we needed to go or the process to check out. We didn't appreciate how snappy Angie got with us when we made the mistake of bringing the items indoors for purchase. I had also grabbed a few items that were reserved for other customers (again no clear signage or roping was used to differentiate the areas where reserved items and up for sale items were). Again, we got a bit of a scolding from the owner because of this honest mistake. I believe with more clear signage and directions for new customers, a lot of this confusion can be avoided to help make it a better shopping experience for all. Ultimately though sales is not only about what you have to sell, but how you sell it.

I do think some of the instructions might be overwhelming/confusing to someone if it's busy or you're in a hurry and just skim over them, but I get why they have their process and it probably helps with efficiency, avoiding damage/contamination, and keeping costs to a minimum, which benefits the customer because their prices are phenomenal. I will happily follow some hand written directions when the result is I can fill my entire garden bed for less than a hundred dollars, yes please. I love the selection of native plants.
