I called two different companies in the W-S area to have a key fob programmed. I VERY CLEARLY stated I was just calling for a price. The first place I called ("company x"), told me a representative for my area would call me back. The second place I called- Burnhams (I talked to Cameron), gave me the pricing right away and explained options. A rep for "company x" called me back. My husband and I called Burnhams on Thursday to set up an appointment for a truck key replacement. They scheduled an appointment for us Friday, the next day for between 3pm and 3 30 pm. We were glad to get this problem solved before the weekend. We received a text to confirm the appointment which we did. By 3 40, we became concerned and reached out to the company. We were told that our appointment had been bumped because they were prioritizing a lock out call over us, but would be with us immediately after they answered the other service call. Being the patient people that we are, agreed to wait on them. By 5 30 pm we had heard nothing back from them and they were not returning any of our calls or text. We missed several errands that we are not be able to take care of until the new work week. Burnham' s lack of communication and unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable. If they will do this to us, they could do it to you. The key to getting any job done is communication and simply showing up. Whatever you do, don't use this company--they are scammers! My daughter lost her keys and needed an ignition key replacement. She called Burnhams and was quoted $250. When the technician arrived, he inexplicably proceeded to make a door key, even though no one requested it and the doors were never locked. He was informed that it's a separate key for the door and the ignition, but he insisted he was the professional and continued anyway. The technician was unable to make the ignition key and then suggested tearing out the ignition, offering a discount price of $485 for this service. When we declined, he demanded $176 for the door key, which we never asked for. I ended up giving him $100 for his time, but he kept the key. I shouldn't have given him anything! He tried to take advantage of my minor daughter, and when things didn't go his way, he called the police and lied, saying we threatened him. It was all on video--we never threatened him. read more

This is a story about "the Back Door Lock that refused to UNLOCK". Called Burnham's on a Sunday for help with a back door lock that would not "unlock"- not by using the key on the outside nor the knob's turn latch on the inside. Dave answered, was very professional and courteous and scheduled my appointment for Monday a.m. to avoid an emergency charge for a Sunday appointment. The next morning, my technician Zack arrived and had to work on several game plans to "unlock my lock". 1.5 hours later, the lock finally disengaged! [Yay!!...Whew!!!] Mission accomplished- Zack informed my lock situation was a rare occurence and apparently for him, a teachable moment. He was tenacious and very patient as he found the right solution to first fix the existing lock, then replace the old parts with a new doorknob and lock, while being careful not to harm my doorframe. [Thank you Zack!] I will lastly share, Burnhams normally has two hour appointment windows; however, if they have to redirect for an emergency call, the appointment window could be extended at the last minute. I was in a parking location that was somewhat difficult to find due to road construction, but Zack called me and stayed on the phone with me until he found my location. This company saved my life today! I have an Airbnb and discovered four hours before the next guest was due to check in that the antique lock was not allowing a key to be inserted. I had an issue with keys and locks on my 13 year old pickup truck that I bought used. It was difficult for me to tell if my issue was strictly with the keys or if I had cylinder lock problems. I did not want to just order new keys from the dealer, or have keys made from the existing keys because they were badly worn and there could be problems with more than just the keys. I wanted a professional to investigate and apply a solution that would give me completely reliable operation. I contacted Burnhams Locksmith and they made an appointment that afternoon. When David arrived, I explained in detail what I had learned from my troubleshooting and he took that information and did a review of my existing ignition, driver door and passenger door locks and confirmed they were not damaged and worked properly. He has the precision equipment to do that right in his van. Then he was able to make me two keys to replace the bad ones using the equipment installed in his van. He had everything he needed to test the locks and the keys, and a massive stock of tools and key blanks to get my issues resolved on the spot. In the future I will contact Burnhams Locksmith exclusively for any lock and key needs. David is very personable and professional, as well as highly knowledgeable. He listened carefully as I explained all the steps I had taken and shared my concern that I might have problems beyond just the keys. I am an engineer by trade so I asked a LOT of questions, and he patiently explained to me exactly what his plan was to work through the issues. I am so glad he was able to first confirm I have no issues with the locks themselves. That gives me peace of mind that the entire problem is resolved. I called A1 Locksmith in Clemmons, NC, and Brad said they were booked and referred me to Burnhams. I was thrilled that they said they could order two key fobs and keys and come to my home. We had a few phone conversations, a couple due to the truck delivering the fobs and keys broke down in WV, and Zack, the technician, and the woman who answered the phone, were consistently friendly and reassuring. Here we are in a pandemic where most everyone is still not back to work I'm selling a vehicle for extra money and I called this service to have a key made. I had my adult son to handle this for me because I was in the hospital. They are nice they are polite and they are friendly - he was unable to program my vehicle but he charged me $181.26 to make a key that does not work - that do you call that. Out the hospital I called POP-a-Lock who came out 2x's to try to resolve the issue, but educated me on what I needed to do and did not charge me a dime - This happened on 7/9/20 and here it is 7/13/20 and David still don't think they did anything wrong. read more
