I only got into yoga because I was looking for a workout to do with my wife. I signed up for the…read moresix month special on day one because, well...let's be honest I'm cheap. The deal was just too great to pass up. Three years later and I still can't miss a week of hot yoga. When they say that #yogaislife, it's a phrase that basically communicates that yoga helps to center all other activities in your life. The people at the Wellness Center completely understand that we are all on a journey and work at our own pace. I like that every instructor is patient with the other yogis in class. Occasionally they will push you "to your edge", and that is the place where we all see our growth and potential. After 90 minutes of 105 degree temperature your body, mind and soul will thank you for this uninterrupted time. A few things will help you have a great first class: - Bring your own yoga mat - Bring a hot yoga towel (to absorb the sweat) - Bring 20-30oz of cold water - The studio has all these things in case you forget. A couple bonuses: - Private showers available for men and women (bring a towel) - Power Shakes (smoothies) for purchase after class - Personal instructors who are not intimidating - Additional yoga and strength classes available

This studio is okay…read more I've been studying Bikram Yoga for a little over two years now and have practiced at several different studios throughout the U.S. I currently live in San Francisco and practice at Global Yoga almost everyday so even when I'm out of town, I do a search for local yoga studios so I can maintain my routine. The language that the instructors use to guide the students through each pose is almost the same; however, they alter the nuances of some of the poses just enough to make them different for me. When I'm a visitor at a studio, I try to honor the teacher's instruction as best I can, but I found that the details that this studio either omitted or altered was a little odd. Especially since out of the 6 or 7 studios I have either visited or have been a student at, it was the first time I'd ever heard of such alterations. But looking at the website again, they don't claim to be Bikram, they're hot yoga, but the 26 poses are generally the same. I'm so accustomed to the gentle, nurturing yet thorough instruction at Mary Jarvis' studio, it's hard to visit another place but this one was the hardest. The studio is fine. It's clean and there's ample space. The room's temperature was fine and in fact, could've been a little hotter. Again, if you're looking for somewhere to practice, this could be okay. But if you're working on your shoulder-to-chin connection on some of your poses or bending over pidgeon-toed, it's not the practice here. And they'll come over to correct that.

Would I ever spend hundreds of dollars to be a member here? No frickin way…read more Is it totally worth a $35 social coupon? Sure thing. The "fitness evaluation", as others have conveyed, is merely a 3.5 hour sales pitch. They seem like they have some good advice, but it's all really just BS, unless you are a super hardcore weight lifter. (For example: "Women should be eating 110g of protein a day." Yeah right!) The classes are packed, but I was able to get in for the most part. The trainers are hit-or-miss (I liked Melinda and Melissa). If you're debating whether or not to buy the groupon, I suggest you do it. But, remember, when it comes to the sales pitch- "Just say no!"

I too give it three stars. The workouts were decent and made me work harder, however, with the…read moreGroupon, they definitely oversold themselves. The website promised small group fitness training, but about 30 people were crammed into the incredibly hot room, and we had to share stations if you were in the back couple of rows. I'm sorry, but it is not acceptable to ask people to SHARE a Step for cardio activity. Especially when there are lots of bigger people there (myself included). Have you ever seen two people share a step that is 2 feet long to do major cardio activity? It's not pretty and makes it hard to focus on your workout if you are sharing. It's way too hot, and they try so hard to sell things that are necessary. If they would stop the sales pitch, get two aerobic rooms (or make the room bigger) the workout would have gotten 4 stars. I was sweaty, sore the next day, and full of happy workout endorphins, but bitter about sitting through a 2 hour sales pitch, and the constant "buy a shake, buy this pill, buy this protein bread" pushing. Way overpriced if you don't have a Groupon. If you get the Groupon rate and are not claustrophobic, give it a try. Side note: Jennifer's QVR class was great. She was sweet, firm, motivating, and seemed like she actually had a fitness background and could give alternative moves for those with injuries, and she closely watched people's forms.
