we just moved here to Wake Forest from Austin, where I did OT and was part of a studio. the vibe at…read morethis studio is disappointing. The front desk attitude comes across high and mighty rather than helpful and accommodating. I was 6 minutes late the day after it snowed not used to needing to scrub ice off my car and as a mom of 3 small children it takes a lot to get out to exercise. I was greeted with "you're past the 5 minute mark". Even though I explained (and was unaware of this 5 minute mark since the studio I came from does not have this rule), I was sent away. We just moved and amidst weeks of unpacking I really needed to move my body. the first time I came I explained we just moved and I couldn't find my monitor. I was met with "we will give you one this time but we charge next time $10." Not a warm welcome. Quite the contrast from my studio in Austin and frankly I'm not sure I will stay with OT though I do enjoy the workouts because this is the only close studio and I'm a busy mom of 3 who is sometimes a little late and when I'm paying a fortune to be part of a class expect to be treated with kindness.

I participate in the Crossfit and Jiu-jitsu program, but we' ve all done every program offered at one point or another. Many people don't know that this was the original crossfit gym in Raleigh. The combined years of experience and level of expertise by the staff is unmatched by any other local gym. In fact many of the owners and trainers from the competing local gyms got their start at Forged when it was CrossfitNC. If you're serious about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, or Crossfit training this is the best to begin your journey. The environment is friendly, family oriented, and laidback. Doesn't matter if you're a beginner or have years of experience this gym will challenge you and instruct you at the level that's right for you. In the six years I've been a member I have personally seen many of my training partners make amazing transformations in body and mind. I've also been fortunate enough to train with some of the most respected high level jiu-jitsu instructors and competitors in the area and from all over. The kids program is equally highly regarded and the most effective as proven in competition. Come out and meet the crew if you're in the area. You won't regret it.

So I don't even know where to start!! The phones didn't work for one, then I went up there and…read morewanted to inquire about a membership and still couldn't talk to anyone. So finally someone contacted me, I went in the next day for a 1hr consultation and a body scan. I got there and the gentleman was all over the place then the body scan wasn't even set up. He had to call someone and it literally looked like the scale I have at home that I ordered off Amazon. Fast forward to the actual class yes I was a little late but there was no communication to even call to see if I could still join the class even if I was 2 minutes late. I got there and tried to sign in on the tablet and my phone number didn't even match. The instructor just looked at me and didn't even stick her head out the door to tell me to either come back or just joined in. So I just left and I probably will not return. I honestly wanted to join this gym but the service was absolutely horrible and unorganized!!!

I wish I could give RockBox Fitness Wake Forest a positive review because I really wanted to love…read moreit. This is a long review because I want to share my experiences so that readers will understand what can possibly happen if they sign up. I am an active senior who has done non-contact boxing/cross-training/weight-training for over a year and recently moved to the area. I signed up in February 2025 for the "special 4-month program" that they offered. Here is my experience with some helpful advice thrown in: (1) THE CONTRACT. Read your contract prior to signing it! Don't be rushed! They may tell you that it's a 4-month program but their software signs you up for a 6-month contract because their software doesn't allow them to do a 4-month contract. ‍ And you still have to give a 30-day WRITTEN notice to end your contract or it will automatically continue and you will be charged. (2) THE CONTRACT. (Yes, I repeated myself ) Read your LONG contract prior to signing! (Sorry for being redundant but I cannot emphasize this enough.) I was so excited after the recruitment session that I didn't and I lived to regret it. If you have an injury and can't box for an extended period and provide a doctor's letter, they will release you from your contract ONLY if your letter states that you cannot box for a YEAR or more. When I signed up, I didn't even have a chance to watch a class because the gym wasn't even open for a week...and you only have 3 days to cancel your contract if you don't think it's gonna work for you. I'm not great at math, but the timeline put me at a disadvantage. (3) GETTING COACHED. You will be told that you can show up 30 minutes prior to class and one of their "coaches" will instruct you on punches and kicks. The first time I showed up 30 minutes prior to class, the doors were locked. I knocked. Nothing. I ended up messaging the Studio Coordinator and finally the "coach" came to open the doors. I wanted help with the kicks and got a hurried lesson. This happened at least one other time. (4) THE "COACHES". I am using quotes for a reason. One of the coaches was legit and helpful. Her name was Anna. (She has written a 5-star review on this site. Perhaps she wrote it prior to becoming a coach; perhaps not.) The other "coaches" were not awesome. (5) STUDIO OPEN HOURS. Limited. This is not a place that offers an open boxing gym. You can only box when they offer their classes: between 1x daily (weekends) and 3-4x daily (weekdays) for around 50 minutes (early morning and late afternoon/evening). (6) TIME IN CLASS. The classes consist of ~5 minutes of stretching, 20 minutes of boxing and during which the "coach" reads the instructions of the punches/kicks from a paper, 20 minutes of cross-training where you rotate stations and follow whatever is demonstrated on the tablets, and ~5 minutes of stretching. The music is loud and I loved that, except it prevented me from hearing all of the boxing instructions because the fidelity of the speakers was not great. Each class, I had to remind the "coach" to lower the volume of the music during instructions and then turn it back louder. They often forgot and I gave up trying to manage this. (7) YOU CAN MODIFY ANY EXERCISE THAT YOU NEED TO, BUT the round-robin cross-training moves so quickly that you barely can watch the demo and try it, and if you need help from the coach to modify, the time will be up before you need to move to the next station. Also, the cross-training exercises change daily: great for variety and not great for learning them. One last thing, sometimes the "coach" will forget to turn on 1 or more of the tablets and by the time you're able to get their attention to turn them on, it's time to switch to the next station and you will miss the exercise. This happened to me and was the final straw for me. (8) THIRSTY? You have to drink on your own time and that will cause you to miss class time. And of course you have to wipe down the stations with a rag before moving on to the next station but no time is allotted for that. (9) YOU CAN MESSAGE THE STUDIO COORDINATOR if you have any concerns. And I did. Twice. After waiting several days for a response and sending reminders, I was met with excuses pretty much telling me that I just needed to make my needs known. (See comments above about how quickly class moves or the doors not being unlocked before class). I am pretty sure that my review will get a response; just know that everything said in this review actually happened to me. Of course, your mileage may vary, but this was an expensive and frustrating experience for me.
