The programming and coaching at Waukee is top-notch. Coaches take time to get to know the members and coach them on proper technique and member's goals. The programming is constantly varied, challenging, and can always be scaled to an individual's fitness level. The community at Waukee is what sets this box apart from others. I've visited several boxes, and while I have enjoyed every single community, this one is a group of real people who Crossfit. Every member is friendly, welcoming of new faces, and genuinely wants to get to know and help others. I used to be intimidated by partner WODs (workout of the day in CF speak), because I'm not the best athlete, and there hasn't been a single time at Waukee that I haven't been asked to be someone's partner almost immediately. I also have visited all of the various class times, and have felt welcome in each class. Speaking of class times, this box offers a variety of class options throughout the day, leaving lots of options and no excuse for not making it to a workout. I come from a running background, and I was also looking for a HIIT gym to help me cross-train. Since joining Title last Fall, I have pretty much ditched my running because I get so much out of the workouts. I am there 6-7 days a week. The workout is like this: About six minutes of warming up, calisthenics, shadow boxing, getting your muscles loosened up. Then you go thru eight three-minute rounds, punching the heavy bag, with a minute break in between rounds. At the end of the workout, you have a six minute core workout. So you are hitting every muscle group in those 45 minutes. They offer early morning (5:30) workouts, a 12:15PM that is shortened to 30 mins, then regular 4:45PM and 6:15PM regular workouts. Also, they do Saturday and Sunday mornings. Whatever fitness level you are at, I am sure you will enjoy Title.

Quarterly belt promotions keeps her motivated and the occasional parents night out event allows us to sneak away for a few hours while they keep the kids active with games, pizza and a movie. Both my father in law and sister in law lost weight, built muscle and now live a healthier lifestyle thanks to their 10 week fitness program. I get the appeal of some of that, but for me, I just need a decent place with good equipment and I'll handle the rest. In general, people are there to work out and work out hard. Decent equipment and love their music selections. Very high energy. This gym is powerlifting-friendly and has its own area for chalk. It's nice to see a place that not only allows deadlifts, but has a platform and doesn't blink at chalk-use. Also, I love the mural on one of the main walls painted by a local artist. Very nice work. If I lived in DM, I would get a membership here.

He canceled in December 2024 and several months still were taking money out of my account for his membership which should have been done end of year. My son canceled it 3 times on line and said membership canceled everytime. They said he never filled out the form. Can't cancel in person had to do it online. They gave me one month refund should had three according to an email. So if you are planning on joining be aware canceling isn't easy. Son liked the gym otherwise.

I also appreciate the clean folks that are keeping the place spotless. I also appreciate some of the equipment being bolted down to the floor so people can't make a mess with them. Now, I wish they would clean up the weights for the lifters who can't seem to do the math and end up mixing up the weights all over. e.g. there is no need to have 3 5 lbs and a 2.5 lb hanging on the side of the squat rack. The other equipment is normally worse. If all the weights were labeled with where they belong, and cleaned up and organized once a week it would be great and it would be even nicer. The rest of this still stands.

This is not that. Well, not quite... The Garage (formerly located in the East Village) is a fresh operation staffed by knowledgable and friendly coaches eager to share their enthusiasm for all that CrossFit can provide. The focus for training starts with an emphasis on good form/mechanics (safety) followed by consistency and then intensity. Workouts are varied each time to really drive toward a goal of truly functional fitness. I am a long way from Spartan warriorhood, but all the moves and exercises that make up each workout of the day (WOD) can be scaled to my current ability and strength. While many of the members here have carved themselves to elite fitness status, the attitude is far from elitist. I have not walked in once and not been greeted by random gym-goers. There really is a sense of community and support at this gym. If you're looking for a safe way to find your physical potential, The Garage is well worth checking out. This "box," as the CrossFit community calls the gym, is easy access off of Keo Way, just south of I-235 and North and is located where Owen Crist Towing used to be.

This gym has a decent amount of cardio machines, along with several squat racks (three of em) and a couple of pulley machines. For bench pressing, there's no conventional bench presses, rather, they have racks, where you can place barbell holders at and move over a bench so you have an impromptu bench press. They also have a decent amount of dumbbells. I really liked the crossfit area as they got racks to perform them silly kip pullups along with medicine balls and Olympic plates. They also have a decent padded section where you can do stretches. BATHROOM REVIEW: This is more about the locker room. Pretty decent, with no naked old men walking around air-drying their nether regions. That's great in my book. Sit or squat? Squat.... it's still a locker room :-P

Since no place is perfect though, I would like to say it would be nice if some new equipment were being cycled in soon, it keeps the vibe higher if customers see improvement and change for the better since isnt that the whole reason most people go to the gym is to improve and change for the better....
