I've used Burkitt for a number of projects in the Crestline area and they are excellent. My parents have a cabin in Running Springs, and my cousin was using the cabin and he locked the keys in the house. He call this company and they came out and opened up the cabin...WITHOUT VERIFYING that he was in fact our cousin using the cabin and get the okay to open it up. They didn't call my parents to make sure it was okay for them to unlock the door!! What kind of company does that! The worst part is when my mom called them she left her name and number with the gal who answered the phone told her to have the owner call back and she hasn't heard anything. It's been 2 weeks!! Never using them again. Can't believe they wouldn't verify that it was okay to open the door. Stupid. read more

The woman who answered the phone was incredibly rude. The day of the appointment; I got a call that they needed to reschedule, because the owner's son did the schedule wrong. Two people had already taken time off work to be there to meet the locksmith, including someone coming from Los Angeles, and when I said so, the woman on the phone said snidely ,"your tenant in crestline lives in LA?", to which I had to clarify for her it was a friend who was going out to meet them as a favor to me, since I am currently out of state. There was something wrong with the lock on the door, but the details were not clear and that's why I scheduled the appointment for someone to take a look and let me know what needed to be fixed. Then the woman on the phone told me the "don't just go out to tell you what's wrong"...I said they had installed the lock a year before, and she interrupted, "WE DONT OFFER WARRANTIES", which is not what I asked for; I was hoping since they installed the lock, they would know best how to fix the problem, and I told her so. THEN she refused to reschedule a time with my tenant because she said I refused to give a credit card number. Since this woman didn't seem to want to help or want our business, we eventually decided to try somewhere else. Never before did I have to try and justify why I made an appointment for a repair before; it was truly bizarre. read more

We had two front door handles / locks replaced at our home at Lake Arrowhead and he did an excellent job. The handles were a perfect fit to the ones from 30 years ago. He arrived at the time he promised the first day to survey the project and did the same two days later when he returned with the new handles. A real treat for many of us in the mountains! The price was right and as promised. The only flaw in the work was one of the handles was in a damaged box. While nothing appeared damaged at first glance, about 20 minutes after he left we noticed a "dent" in the one interior knob. A quick phone call and he was back the next day with a new handle. I hope he got a credit from his vendor. I would definitely use him again. read more

7 months after giving my tenant a 60 day notice I finally received a lock out at 6:01 4-5-18. I asked Dan at Seeley's Heating & Air Conditioning who to use; and one professional referred another. After calling to set up an off hour appointment, the nicest lady arranged for all this to happen. Burkitt's Lock & Key. I had a bad experience with this company. I called them and arranged for my home to be re-keyed. The lady answering the phone, quoted a price for the services I requested. Fair enough. I got a call from the same person the next day informing me the project was completed. The locksmith changed the locks I requested plus 3 additional doors, not requested, at $15 each. I mailed the check the next morning because at the time of the quote, the company informed me their credit card device was broken, hence the check. The next Friday I called the company again inquiring into the keys and to confirm payment. She stated that she did not receive a check. This was 8 days after the completion of the job. I informed her of this and asked if the keys were with her. She would check with the locksmith. She calls back and tells me the keys were mailed on Wednesday. No tracking number. I told her I would check for the keys on Saturday and get back to her. Maybe, I offered, I could drive by the office and pay them. She agreed. I called the next 3 days and no answer at the company number. No call back after contact info left on the messages. I had a friend call and she arranged to have the locksmith open the door at another charge of $65 Plus $20 for the key on top of the $145 for the previous work. I had to hire another company to open the door to my home and rekey the locks. I wouldn't advise you use this company. read more

We went to the mountains the weekend after Christmas to play in the snow. To make a long story short, our car keys were lost (most likely somewhere in the snow). We were in a high school parking lot and were told we had to be out of the lot by 3pm because it would be locked up. I called AAA sometime shortly after noon and was told they could send a locksmith. After several calls with them back & forth, I was told the locksmith couldn't help & they couldn't even tow us home for at least 2 DAYS (because they were swamped with calls). I tried calling a towing service on my own, and he recommended I try another locksmith and gave me the number for Burkitt's. I called, explained where we were and what happened. He came to us immediately and spent almost 3 hours trying to make a key for my car. It was difficult because of the security on the car, but he didn't give up and was finally able to make a key that worked! We were fortunate enough to find him...I would highly recommend Mr. Burkitt!!! read more
