Children's Dance Theater is a wonderful studio, and I've been meaning to write a review for awhile…read more My daughter started with their musical theater summer camp a few years ago, only because she was mildly interested in singing and theater and it was affordable and convenient for me. By the end of the three-week camp (which was awesome), she was completely in love with dance and has been taking classes here ever since. She's now taking ballet, jazz, lyrical and hip-hop, and wants to be a professional dancer someday. :) The best thing about this place is the teachers. Ms. Stephanie, the owner, is a wonderful teacher, in addition to being an organized and communicative business owner. Ms. Krystal, Ms. Debbie and Ms. Alashia are some of the other teachers my daughter has had over the years, and I have been so impressed with them as teachers and as role models -- it's really wonderful to have all these strong, talented and caring women in my daughter's life. I'm certain that her love of dance is due in large part to these teachers sharing their own passion for dance, and being challenging yet encouraging to the kids they teach. Oh, and the office staff and even other parents are pretty great too -- it's a really friendly atmosphere, and staff and other parents have always been helpful whenever I've had a question about costumes, classes, etc. It's so nice to be in an environment where kids can be dedicated and even competitive, yet parents are welcoming and supportive of other parents and all the other kids in the studio. Anyway, that's been our experience. I think it's a great studio for beginners as well as seriously dedicated dancers -- some of the kids seem to practically live there and the performances are pretty amazing.

Good sound quality, the great Wurlitzer organ during intermission. There are table side seats up front (cost a bit more) and row seating behind. Seniors get a discount. Fun night! Gypsy jazz is what brought us to Kenyon Hall…read more They call themselves "Ranger & the Rearrangers:" a five-piece band playing the kind of music you'd expect to hear in a Parisian cafe but with the spirit of a Gypsy campsite. It was an intimate and most charming performance sprinkled with humor and wanderlust. Formerly Hokum Hall, this non-profit vaudeville-toting venue was built in 1916 and is a neighborhood treasure. Rumor has it: Eddie Vedder played a "secret" show here once. But it's really a dear man named Lou Magor whose been at the helm of this performance space for decades. He's a warm, quirky character who doubles as emcee and master musician and brings a corporate hug to the whole experience. The decor, old framed photos, hardwood floors and (the pièce de résistance) a 1920s Wurlitzer pipe organ create all kinds of nostalgia from eras gone by.. and the tickets are affordable, too. Check out their website for upcoming shows (live music, drama, silent movies, poetry readings and more!) and see why Kenyon Hall is called "West Seattle's Lighthearted Entertainment Palace."

" RDC team- i just wanted to drop a quick note to say that this years' recital was truly so so special. i volunteered backstage last year so this was my first experience in the audience. my own daughter danced only twice, near the end (i exploded inside), even still i was all but weeping the entire show. the energy that everyone brought was beyond beautiful. the joy was palpable, & it was very apparent that everybody on that stage was truly in their magic, from the teachers to students. which, as a patron, was to say the very least, is uplifting & impressive. as the mother of a dancer who is quite dedicated & passionate about the art, it was exciting & encouraging witnessing the progression through classes, & hear the graduates' testimonials. i was blown away at the level of dedicated production you brought to the entire event. 'sign of the times' had me so emotional. you deserve all your flowers!"
