Go somewhere else. Don't bother. It used to be really good, but now they DO NOT answer the phone literally daily. You can call for weeks and not get ahold of anyone. They also don't return voicemails so don't bother leaving those either. So , now after years of going here I have to switch my kids to a different dentist when they are used to this one. Don't set yourself up for this issue, go somewhere else from the beginning. I even had to check if they are still in business, thats crazy for a dentist. Smh. read more

This place is so cheerful, colorful and really welcoming for adults and kids alike. The building itself is not the most eye appealing at first glance, but they've done a great job inside with the decor and paint. They have kid friendly movies playing in the lobby on a flat screen TV which is mounted to the wall safely and securely. Dr. Ghafghazi's staff are super friendly, patient and professional. Before the kids leave the clinic they receive a couple of tokens and they get to choose a few trinkets from the various gum ball machines next to the receptionist. Of course they also go home with toothpaste and a new toothbrush. No food or drinks in the lobby, which I don't think is an unreasonable request at all. They want to keep their clinic clean and probably avoid any child(ren) getting hurt around hot beverages. But for whatever their reason is... it's totally fine in my book. read more

Both of my children love going to see Dr. G. One son has had severe issues with cavities since he was a baby. Unlike a previous commenter experienced, I was never made to feel like it was due to my breastfeeding him. They asked me lots of questions about his habits, diet, etc. Some kids are just prone to tooth decay whether they are breastfed, bottle-fed or both. I never felt like we were being judged. This same child has had to be put under for fillings and crowns, sedated for repairs to his crowns due to falls and has been sedated for fillings. A few times the office has even absorbed some of the costs because our child has so many issues with his teeth. Dr G and his staff have always been great with my kids. Making them feel comfortable and welcome. Being a pediatric dentist is a tough job and we love going to this office. read more

I have never had any complaints about anything here since 2010 until my 18month olds appointment. The assistant was sweet & made my son feel comfortable & let her do everything. The dentist lady came in (asian lady) and started checking my sons teeth. He has cavities & some decay. She told me how could I have not noticed? I told her he doesn't open his mouth when I brush, I have to just stick the tooth brush in there. Then she basically said its because of me breastfeeding! I was very nervous about coming to a new dentist for my son, but the entire visit was smooth and easy. My son(5) was not the easiest patient, but they handled it very professionally and with kindness. The dental assistant made sure to check in with me often to make sure we were doing ok. read more

I was very disappointed with this office and dentist. They scheduled my son for a serious procedure requiring General Anesthesia which, when my son was examined by another pediatric dentist, turned out to be **unnecessary** because there was actually no cavitiy!! When i first brought my son, staff seemed nice, I began to worry though when scheduling my 4 yr old for general anesthesia to fill a "cavity" which had "penetrated through the enamel to the root". General anesthesia was to be performed in their office, but I was leery because of several mistakes made by the office staff (transposed numbers on my address, promised letters/follow up which never happened). The staff seemed a little sloppy/unprofessional. As general anesthesia is a big deal (there's always a small chance the patient might not wake up ), a sloppy office staff with preventable mistakes, well, the slight chance of a poor outcome increases. Because I was worried to put my child under general anesthesia in this office, I began to make arrangements to have my child brought to Children's Hospital to have general anesthesia performed in a hospital setting. In the process of doing this **a second dentist examined my son's teeth, and could find no trace of a cavity.** This dentist took a second x-ray of the area of the mouth with the cavity, and there was absolutely no evidence of a cavity on the x-ray. When this x-ray was compared to the original x-ray from Burien Children's Dentistr/Dr. Ghafghazi's office, it became apparent That the x-ray from Burien Children's Dentistry/Dr. Ghafghazi's office had been sloppily done, and a blur on the x-ray made it appear that my son's tooth had a deep ("to the root") cavity. What brings this from a point of sloppy negligence to a questionable practice is the second dentist determined there was no cavity while examining my son's mouth with a dental tool, and then took a second x-ray to clarify why no cavity was being found (BECAUSE THERE WAS NO CAVITY!) I strongly question Dr. Ghafghazi's competency. It also is cruel to perform serious surgeries that are unnecessary. I did try to give him the benefit of the doubt at the time of this incident, but he never returned my 2 calls to his office (one of his staff spoke to me (very defensively) once, and only because I called again). While I can not presume on his ethics in this situation, I do question his communication skills (customer service in circumstances that warranted it: zero), and his general competency (the second dentist determined there was no cavity before she even took the second x-ray). Not impressed with this office or this dentist. I was so upset at this incident (and the potential for harm to my son from an unnecessary procedure), that I called our insurance company (which had Burien Children's Dentistry on a preferred provider list) to report the incident. Unbelievably, the insurance company refused to take any action or report because Burien Children's Dentistry/Dr. Dr. Ghafghazi' had not actually performed the unnecessary surgery on my son's mouth (BECAUSE I HAD GOTTEN A SECOND INDEPENDENT OPINION). It made me wonder how an unnecessary procedure could ever be determined once the surgery had occurred. By then, any evidence of no cavity/unnecessary surgery would be gone and healthy teeth replaced by a filling. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place. After a few visits they sent a letter to me letting me know that my special needs behaviorial issues(Autistic) child is not welcome there. The letter also said that me as the mom lacks discipline for my child. Yeah he's hyper but this is a children's dentist they should be use to all kids not just the well behaved. They didn't introduce the tools to him which he needs to feel comfortable. My son needed caps on his teeth so they needed to put him to sleep to do this and they gave me a time of 11am but no food or drinks after midnight the day before---even an adult wouldn't be able to do this with ease! Now that he's in school SeaMar goes there and he has no cavities! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My 3yo went here for his 2nd dentist appt b/c they were so close to our new house. I'll admit their shiny new building was enticing, but their lackluster performance with children was a deal breaker. The women who attempted to clean my sons teeth was rude, insulting, impatient, and rough. She tried and failed miserably to get his x-rays. I do not know if the bite wings she was using were not small enough, but she kept trying to cram them into the back of his throat practically. He let her try about 3 times before he completely refused to open his mouth and try again, I could not blame him it all, I was surprised he didn't yell at her more. He said it hurt and he did not want to do it anymore :( After she failed at the xrays she tried to clean his teeth. She kept complaining he wasn't staying put in the chair where she needed him, but it was not his fault, the chair was to damn big and he kept sliding down towards the center of the chair. He was trying to stay put, but she kept hurting him and he would move or fidget as a reaction. She had the nerve to look at me and ask "is he always this hyper?" Wow, just wow. I had to turn my mom filter on real fast to make sure I didn't set a bad example (@#%$#$%#$ you lady!). I suggested maybe she go find a pillow to help prop him up and he could stay put. It's not like he was trying to climb out of the chair and run away, I know my kid, he was being REALLY patient for her. After she went and found a pillow she went back to trying to clean and floss him again. She looks over at me and gives me the usual guilt trip about brushing and flossing and then tells me I really need to pay better attention to his teeth b/c he has so much plaque and tarter build up. I am just smiling and nodding at this point, grateful my son is not crying and being so well behaved despite her rude accusations, patiently waiting for the actual dentist to come in. When he finally does come in, he does not try the xrays again or do much of anything but look in his mouth. I kind of expected a pediatric dentist to have a little more compassion for the younger patients and experience, but I just felt like a number on paper here. He also gave me the same load of crap about plaque on his teeth. We patiently finished up our appointment and never looked back. How do I know they sucked so bad? We went somewhere else 6 mos before and 6 mos after with completely different results, I waited to post this review until we had seen another dentist. The Kids Dentist in Renton had no problem getting his xrays both times, on the first attempt. The assistant cleaned his teeth quickly and painlessly, was very sweet and patient. When the dentist came over, he told me my son had great teeth, try to floss more as the gaps begin to close in on his teeth and everything looked great. No mention of plaque or tarter either time and I did not change our brushing habits in the year between all these appointments. My son was a a great little patient and had no problems with the dentist or his staff unlike at Burien Children's dentistry. They left a sour taste in my mouth, I apologized profusely to my son and told him I would never make him go back there and those people were just bad at their job. Please don't take your child here, especially if it is their first dentist appt, you could scar them for life :( read more

Not breast feeding friendly. I was told the reason my one year old had a cavity on the front of her eye tooth was from me breast feeding her at night. Much research shows this is not the case. I did bring this up to the dentist (with printed research) and he did not seem convinced. There is research (by dentists) that shows breast milk alone does not cause cavities. My own dentist who is in the top 10 in King County and teaches at UW said that breast milk alone cannot cause cavities. It seems as if this office does not see a lot of exclusively breast fed children. At the first visit I was asked if she still takes a bottle. When I responded that she had never had a bottle and was breast fed the dentist said "never?". I am assuming I am the first person to answer that way. Aside from this the staff is very friendly and my children enjoy their visits. read more

I have a 5 and 3 year old. My kids love this place. We've been coming here for almost 2 years now. As soon as we walk in, we are greeted by name and that shows to care and are attentive. They shower my kids with goodies and keep my kids comfortable and entertained. Love this place. Dinosaur theme is a bonus, haha. read more

We love going here! My son is 11 and my daughter is 5 and they've been going here since they were each 1 year old! We have no complaints! Dr. G and staff are AMAZING! Totally kid friendly and very clean place! Definitely recommend them if you're looking for a children's dentist! Parents need to take responsibility for the condition of THEIR children's teeth! Don't be offended when they tell you that you need to help brush your child's teeth! It's common sense that a child isn't going to get them sparkling clean! I still have to once a week help my 11 year old... its called being a parent!! read more

If I could give negative stars to this place, I would. I want to start out by saying, we gave this place a few chances, and it never ever got better, if anything the service began to get worse. First of all, there is a blonde woman, who I have no idea what her role is in the office other than doing patient intake who is INCREDIBLY rude, condescending and dressed TOTALLY inappropriately to be working in a CHILDRENS dentist office, see through pants, tops, high heels, and cleavage are not the first thing I think of when I think of "wholesome family dentistry". She makes the entire waiting experience so uncomfortable from the moment you walk in the door. She is incredibly condescending to the parents and guardians, and treats everyone that walks through the door as if they are beneath her. She is argumentative and ignorant, and you could be the nicest person in the entire world, shes still going to be horrible to you. Second, the first HUGE red sign at this office was that they DO not allow parents in the rooms for procedures etc and everything is closed doors. There have been WAY too many incidences of dental office abuse towards children for me to even comprehend why a "credible" dentist office would think its ok to say " your not allowed in the room and if you don't like it, you can find another office" Third, my daughter was 3 years old when she had to have one of her front teeth capped and another pulled. Dr. G capped her tooth with an adult sized tooth. She couldn't even eat and it was almost hanging over her bottom lip. We then had to come in again for it to be changed. How does that even happen? its a front tooth, you can see EXACTLY what size tooth you need without having to do much digging or observing! My thoughts on this place are, theyre horrible people that capitalize off of government funded patients and because 90% of their clientele are DSHS recipients im sure they think their clients and children don't deserve to be treated any better. They are not gentle or nurturing towards the young patients nor do they want to allow the parents or guardians to be either. With that all being said, Southcenter Pediatric Dentistry is where we have moved and it is POLAR opposites from Burien Children's. My child is actually excited when she gets to see her dentist and guess what, that's the way it should be. read more
