What started as an optimistic try turned into a giant ball of disappointment. First and last time here. Drive thru at 3pm, just so you know we were the only car there, and still missed an entire order. It's not that they got the order wrong, it's that they just completely missed it. Not the end of the world, we'll share what they did give us. But that's probably our mistake- for the last 24hrs my wife and 2yr old son have had food poisoning and have been violently ill since eating here. Quality checks apparently were decommissioned when they closed down 90% of their locations.

The bacon was undercooked, the burger itself seemed undercooked, and everything looked like it had just been thrown together. For the price, I expected much better quality and presentation. I also ordered the organic house tea thinking it was sweet tea, but it wasn't. On top of that, it came with no ice. The staff did remake it when I asked, so I appreciate that. The reason this review is so difficult is because, despite all of those issues, the burger actually tasted really good. The flavor was there, which made me overlook some of the negatives while I was eating it. That's why I can't rate it any lower than three stars. If this is how it's normally prepared, I wasn't impressed. But if this was just an off day, I'd be willing to give Shake Shack another chance because the taste definitely has potential. Freddy's however, is NOT that type of fast food joint, and it's incredible. Walking in, they kept the place fairly spotless. The decor is a modern take on a 50's aesthetic, with red and polished metal fixtures. The menu, as expected, is fairly 'Americana' in nature with burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and shakes / sundaes. I opted for the 'prime rib steakburger combo' with shoestring fries. A few minutes later the food came out, and let me tell you - I was blown away by the flavor and quality. Perfect maillard reaction on the burger (which I believe is of the "smashed" variety), excellently caramelized onions and mushrooms, as well as a decent cheese. EASILY the best fast food burger I've had in the past decade. If I had to compare the flavor, I'd say it's as if Five Guys and Smashburger collaborated to make something actually decent. Best of both worlds. Finally, the combo was PLENTY of food, and I left quite full. This place rules, I'll be back again!
